Have had an HSE on lease for nearly two years having looked at an I-Pace and a Tesla Model 3 Performance. Tesla was faster in a straight line and cheaper but the interior reflected that using really cheap materials but what did it for me was the noticeable difference in wind and road noise, the Jaguar being way quieter. The Jaguar has been totally reliable, interior is lovely, it’s quiet at all times, is fast and handles beautifully. Only downside is that I’ve never been able to get anywhere near the 300 miles claimed range with the typical range between 230 in winter and 260 in summer.

I would say 230 to 260 is absolutely fine. After all how many cars give there true range, and if you look on the Jaguar site it gives you a very accurate forecast of what you can expect.

Tesla cars are nowhere near their advertising range. They are greatly overrated in range in comparison too the others.

I managed to get around 320 miles range on my Ipace HSE although that was in eco mode, virtually all motorway driving and keeping the speed between 55-60 all the way with full regenerative braking enabled. Barely touched the brake pedal in that 300+ miles. I've found driving at 70+ with fast acceleration instead of gentle makes a huge difference to the range. I also get about 260 range if I drive in a more aggressive fashion.

Used bargain £20k for a 3 year old with around 35/40k on the clock. It’s a great ev, it has a couple of common faults such as water ingress via the seals on the windscreen and occasional software crashes that re set upon re start etc. But a great all round car with good range and space. Drives well. Entry level on 18” wheels is the one i would recommend as it’s better for ride comfort. Rather than upgrading the wheels simply buy one with black rims as that’s a good what to make the wheels look bigger as the rim blends in with the tyre. The big bouncy tyres on the 18” help with city driving.

Great video having bought used myself - fantastic car to drive and also practical with little ones. Only quibble is to point out the dealer recall issue for some early models is not just about software but also replacing a brake harness (H288) so make sure that is done if applicable (2 days or so under warranty).

My I-pace is soon to come out of warranty. The cost of extended warranties are eye waveringly high, so bear that in mind. I'm thinking of selling and buying a Kia EV6 GT. But the I-Pace is a fantastic car. Jaguar really should offer a longer warranty.

I bought a used 2019 HSE CPO .... they gave me a longer warranty than if i had bought new - 6 year unlimited on the car, 8 year unlimited on the pack..... its a no brainer....

I have an I-Pace and the climate controls aren't difficult to use at all. Much easier than having to use a touchscreen like some EVs. I don't even have to look at the knob to use it.

agree, when you test drive it it’s intimidating but once it is your car it become intuitive and you do not even need to take you eyes off the road. Purchased my 2019 HSE FE 3 month ago and very happy with it.

Yes, you can precondition the cabin or schedule it, locate the car, check status. lock and unlock, etc from the Jaguar Remote app or 3rd party apps like WattCat. WattCat has a camping mode as an extra.

At up to 100kW it's still fast enough for most available chargers and I reckon 90% of drivers charge almost exclusively at home/work except for occasional long trips. So yes, slower than some of the latest models but not an issue for most?

I'm curious what the depreciation will be like - if you bought a 2 year old example and kept it 2 years, how much is it likely to loose? Could total cost of ownership be lower than a more "affordable" model?

I-PACE is gorgeous and drives as good as it looks. Unfortunately, the infotainment problems are legitimately bad. Also, the range/charging speed is subpar. ID4 GTX has 80% of the performance and superior range/charging.

Infotainment was improved in 2020. Much faster and better. The ID4 is not a serious competitor, different class. A regular bloke won't be able to get an EV6 for another year.

The infotainment was indeed a problem the first year... but has been resolved by updates. I have been driving 90K KM without any trouble, but right now the onboard charger died, will be replaced under warrantee. Learned I'm not the first one experiancing it, and replacing seems to be not a one day job...... But for the rest, its simply great !

We had one of the launch ‘first edition’ I-Pace cars. It was a good car but........ The range was too short, the charge speed was too slow and it relied on the public charging network which was hit and miss at best. Swapped it for a Tesla Model 3 Performance which is way (way) better in every way apart from ride quality. The Tesla even had the I-Pace beat in terms of reliability (no issues whatsoever with the Tesla) and build quality. As an aside we also have a VW ID3 and that has a better range and a faster real world charging speed than the I-Pace. I’m sorry to say there are better cars out there for the money in my humble opinion.

I imagine it depends on use... If you are charging at home 99% of the time and rarely do long journeys the charging is not so much of a problem. Personally would have the ipace all day over the Tesla. Ride quality and interior are what matters to me. Tesla interior to me is cheap and nasty.

@@seanb9530 I do agree with your point in that the ride quality is definitely better in the I-Pace and the interior looks good. However the Tesla is ‘different’ inside and the interface / functionality is better in daily use once you get used to it. Like all EV’s they have to fit your lifestyle and usage pattern and if that works for you (or anyone) then that’s a personal choice we all make. My I-Pace used to ‘chew’ through driveshafts on a regular basis too. All the best.

The real world range for the i-Pace is around 250 miles compared to 290 miles for a Tesla M3 LR, less so for the Perf. It's not that drastic considering that the i-Pace is a crossover and compares favourably to the Model X. The ID.3 has 50kw charging standard so the rapid charging rate is slower than the I-Pace.

Sadly the iPace will start to look very out of date in 2022. When other manufacturers hit the UK with their models. Especially in view of its range, charging and infotainment systems.

The rumours I'm hearing from my contacts at JLR is a fairly decent mid life changes are in the works and in test mules, with quite a bit of change planned in the interior. The system will remain a 400v system though.

I look at new Etron, EQC, iX3 and don't really see the huge gap. Also Model Y is ugly so let's not compare. For me EV6 looks like a matchbox, Ioniq5 looks cool but for me you can't really compare the two cars, 5 is more reasonable, Ipace is more luxurious. It's the same as you'd compare a VW Passat with a Ghibli. Passat is better 90% of things on paper

And also I'm very tall so model 3 seats are uncomfortable even for short trips. And I don't under that model X has nearly the same kWh except the smaller wheels

Just sold my I-Pace and bought a Tesla Model 3 Long range. This is better in almost every way and is £20,000 cheaper. On top of that there is the supercharger network and constant OTA updates which you won't get with Jaguar. Tesla trumps Jaguar by a large margin.

@@MrJtedds Jaguar provide OTA updates very rarely. I can only recall three in the two and a half years I owned mine. Tesla have already sent two updates in the six weeks I have owned my Model 3. Elon Musk has talked about opening the Supercharge network to other manufacturers in the past and it has never happened. It won't happen in the future either except to maybe small niche OEM's like Aptera or Arcimoto. Apart from the cost to the 'other' manufacturers there are no screens or payment card readers on superchargers so Tesla would have to have the email and bank details of other drivers and would then be able to aggressively market their cars to them. It's not going to happen. As for the ride, I find it considerably smoother than the Jag. As far as JLR are concerned they will be going out of business in the next five years while Tesla will have expanded the number of cars they produce from just under a million this year to five million at least. Ten times more than JLR can manage now. The game is ove,r even without factoring in self driving.

Yet by comparison, two neighbours in my street have gone other ways. One had a model 3 for 2 years, but constant problems with it, he's moved to the I-Pace after looking at mine and prefers it. The other neighbour had his M3 for just 6 weeks, but had 2 loaners already due to faults. Currently in the process of handing it back and looking at the Ioniq 5 instead.

I have Jaguar ipace 2022. It's a piece of garbage. I named it death trap. In 6 months I escaped death 4 times. Jaguar is not concerned about it. Service is zero level. If we have cars and dealer like jaguar. Trust me jaguar will not be in business in near future. Beware this car stops abruptly in the middle of nowhere 🤔. Jaguar says they're is no problem. Seriously.
