I bought one of these back in February. I had the same problem with the dodgy handling on the highway. It was very touchy and hard to keep straight. Turns out that from the factory the tires are super over-inflated. Mine were aired up to like 46 PSI. I dropped them down to 32 PSI and after that it was fine. I've since upgraded to 35x12.5" tires and with proper inflation on those it's still easier to drive on the highway than the massively over-inflated stock 33s. Also, my startup animation doesn't lag like that - you might need to have them do the UConnect update on that model. The latest update put all of the pitch and yaw and disconnect stuff in the center dash UConnect display as well.

Let off the brake in 2 hi on snow in reverse and it started spinning without hitting the throttle! Forgot the torque those 4:10 gears put to the wheels!

The Jeep Wrangler costs about 105,000CAD in India and I'm talking about the low-end variant. And that's just it's showroom price, after taxes, it would cost about 150,000CAD(approximately). Just a little information that you could've totally gone without knowing. The reason is quite apparent, the import duty on cars is humongous. Oh also, just imagine how much any sports car would cost. Being a part of the JL Wrangler Forums community, and reading about problems for months on such a new vehicle, was enough for me to abandon the prospect of JL ownership. Seriously, go to the "issues" subforum there. Quite literally endless problems. It's a damn shame--from a beauty and capability standpoint the new Wrangler is phenomenal. It's just a shame it won't reliably strut its stuff for very long.

All of those negatives (blue camera screen, laggy graphics, error messages, glitching navigation, etc) used to happen when I first got my new 2018 Wrangler JL as well. I was getting frustrated because it was such an expensive car and the tech glitched constantly and then I don’t know if it was an over the air update or what- but one day, they all just went away and they have all worked perfectly since. Weird.

I drove a 2019 Wrangler Unlimited Sport as a rental a couple weeks ago. First time ever in a Wrangler. I’m sold. I was shocked at how smooth the engine was. Drove 380 miles in it. My only complaint was the seat. My hamstrings felt like they weren’t supported enough. But seven hours in a Jeep might do that. Fooling around town it was fine. I’ll take a Rubicon as my next car. Can’t decide between the four door or a Gladiator.

Its amazing what you can do with the absolute cheapest Jeep Wrangler Sport and good tires. As long as you choose the right lines offroading you can have a helluva fun time and accomplish much more than you would think. The only other car I’d buy other than a Ford would be this Jeep Wrangler, I’m a through and through Ford guy but I have a massive soft spot for Jeeps. I really like this and I really like the Trackhawk, the Grand Cherokee in general is really nice, my dad has a 2012 Grand Cherokee and it’s part of the reason I have a soft spot for Jeeps, I’ve personally put a lot of mileage on that car and I love it just as much as my Ford. I agree, a wrangler-esque Toyota would sell like hot cakes. I suppose the closest you can get w/ Toyota is the 4Runner TRD Off Road. But that's more of an SUV.
@thatoneotherotherguy6 жыл бұрын
Affirmative, Brett. But at least in the Toyota you'll be able to really get out there... and always get home. The TRD Pro might satiate those that want the "most offroadey" variants. The Wrangler keeps beating its own sales records, and now outsells the Camry. I'd wish the better automakers would wake up to this large, lucrative market segment (large hairdressers' SUVs), and give us some more options!

I just rented a new Rubicon 2-door with soft top for three days. I liked it a lot, the interior and exterior were so much nicer than the 2013 I used to own. The automatic was great, way better than the manual I had, but the gas mileage on this new one was terrible. The top was easy to take the windows out, but they were so big and not easy to transport in the Jeep...and I didn't really have a place to leave them behind. I agree that it was hard to keep in the lane, but that might be because of the big knobby tires on the Rubicon. The turning radius was amazing, I could turn around in a neighborhood street between the curbs without making a 3-point turn. My passengers liked it and thought it rode pretty decent, but it was hard to get in and out of the backseat for adults but there were vents at the back of the console for the passengers. I thought the sound system was great and the Apple Car Play was easy to use since I had to use my phone for navigation because it didn't have factory nav. One weird thing, the backseat would not latch down when folded up, the seat just bounced around.

You get a bag (which I never use) to store the freedom tops (the two front panels) in the rear that hooks onto your rear seats. I just put them on top of each other. They fit well enough to not be seen but they do take up most of the trunk. I can put them vertically or horizontally in my JLUR, I don't think they'd fit horizontally in the 2dr, the trunks smaller. There's power canvas top and of course there's a regular manual soft canvas top option. I got the dual top (manual canvas + hardtop).
