Great honest review. Hope all is well with yall. A lot of folks had issues with that carb and like you swapped it out. have heard all the KTM haters talking about how unreliable KTM is and I have had nothing but good reliable service out of my 2016 250xc. Stay safe
@DirtBikingwithDonnie4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this bike has been very reliable overall. Thanks for watching!

Great Vid! I share your opinion for your 18 and I love my 17. I must have gotten lucky because my mikuni with the jd jet and jet block gasket kit runs well.

Yeah, I think I could have spent more time working out the Mikuni but got impatient. Thanks for watching!

I have the same exact bike, love it. Were your carb problems elevation related? My bike runs great at 1500 ft. I am about to move to Colorado Springs and it’s 6500.
@DirtBikingwithDonnie4 жыл бұрын
I had the JD kit for the mikuni and jetted for my elevation, but not sure. Good luck on the move. Thanks for watching!

i know this video is old but im looking at a 2017 model of one of these and it had a rebuild on the top end at 150 hours. at what hour do you think you would do the whole bottom end if riding like this video?. its for sale for 6900 cad
@DirtBikingwithDonnie2 жыл бұрын
Those engines can go 400-500 hours on the original bottom end when maintained well.

You can explain very well in front of the camera ... respect! I thought you would need a new piston every 100 hours? LG Gerhard
@DirtBikingwithDonnie4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I had 106 hours on the original piston when I replaced it. I have about 100 on the second piston. I’m going to see if it will last 150 hours.

@@DirtBikingwithDonnie how long did the second piston last?

Hey man. What are the biggest differences you see with the XC and your new FX? I currently own an fix for 7 years now and I’m mulling it over to buy a 250XC? I ride the same terrain as you. Thoughts?
@DirtBikingwithDonnie3 жыл бұрын
Other than the 2 stoke/4 stroke differences, the chassis on my XCW is entirely different with a steel frame and PDS suspension instead of linkage. Still getting acquainted with the FX so I can compare more later. Thanks for watching.

Does Max keep those purple powerbands in stock ? I have been wanting to try one !
@DirtBikingwithDonnie4 жыл бұрын
They do keep them in stock but you have to know the secret phrase. They won’t sell them to just anybody.

Nice video, if I had one of these, I would have a great source for info! I have over 440 hours on my KTM500 EXC and 9300 miles. I've only changed oil/filters and adjusted valves 2x, but checked them a few times and its ok. I wonder if I should change the wheel bearings too? Bike seems fine :-) I wonder when the piston/rings will need attention?
