Im actually quite impressed at the longevity of the 3.5 twin turbo. My father bought a used 2016 F150 at around 50k, changes oil religiously, and the only major service its had was the ford reccomended "once through" at around 100k. Hes at 190k and still running perfect, not to mention none of the plentiful extras that havent failed.

It very very heavily depends on year models. People shit all over Ford and just come to the conclusion they’re all bad vehicles. Yet my dads 2005 F150 4.6 Triton is currently sitting at 272k with completely stock powertrain still runs like a top, the heat JUST went out on it finally and that is literally the most major issue it’s ever had in 15 years and almost 300k miles. 2015-2017’s are extremely solid F-150’s. Can’t say the same for same year models Silverados

I have an Expedition L (Max here in Canada). I've had several people watch in wonder as I slide full sheets of drywall or plywood into it and casually close the tailgate. I can even get 14" lengths of trim in it if I work it right. Also tow a 27ft, 7200lb trailer (though I get HORRIBLE mileage doing, less than 8mpg) with family of 4, 2 big labs and our crap inside.

They will not run their big stupid mouth like the clowns described here in the comments. When you have substantial wealth, you spend a lot of it trying to hide that fact, and trying to keep people from kidnapping your kids. Why is it whenever some Auto Enthusiast talk about Lincolns and cadillacs, they always degrade them down to be nothing more than gussied up Fords and chevys, but call an Audi a gussied up Volkswagen, or call a Porsche 911 a Volkswagen Beetle with extra horses in its ass, and the same Auto Enthusiast snobs are damn near ready to burn you at the stake for daring to come for their precious European luxury name plates, because all they ever give anything European is reference and worship. I feel like no matter what Lincoln or Cadillac does, they really can't win for losing when it comes to these badge snobs. If they made more unique and premium products, but then slap on a more premium price tag, they would be considered far too extreme and pricey just because of the brand name ( look at reactions to the new Cadillac celestiq). But then, if they keep their products as being luxury versions of their more mainstream stablemates, but have more reasonable pricing, they get shot down for being cheap, warmed over excuses for luxury. They treat these Brands like GM and Ford should just give up and discontinue them, but then we'll gladly stand the line for the next BMW with a crappy overly plastic engine, worship the ground it leaks oil on, and vehemently defend its cheaper quality by swiping back with excuses like "but it's fast and handles well! I'd rather have an exciting car that needs fixing than a boring car that's built well!" I swear, some Auto enthusiasts' biases and hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I guess you have to figure out where a brand is just sharing parts and platform, and where it becomes more like badge engineering. It's not like non-US brands don't get pilloried for the same thing among auto-snobs, though it might not be so visible to the US market. Look at how Toyota's new Supra was greeted because it was based on the BMW Z4, or the Mazda Miata-derived Fiat Spider 124 before that. Though calling a 911 a Beetle with extra horses is stretching an analogy to breaking point - I'm pretty sure they share nothing in common bar maybe some financing details :D

A few years ago, we were stuck behind one of these that was stopped at an exit booth on the Central Florida Greeneway. The toll collector walked back to us and told us that we were going to have to back up and exit the SunPass lane because the Navigator's electrical system shut down and because the gear shifter is electric, they couldn't even put it in neutral to push it out of the way, so they were having to wait for a tow truck. According to a quarter mile calculator 6800lbs takes ~468 wheel horsepower to get to a 14.2 quarter mile. The ending was excellent, love the feeling of melancholy mixed with nostalgia for things I’ve never done. If someone isn’t from America and wants to understand why we buy what we buy, and how those purchases make us feel, watch RCR episodes with very American cars. Comfort, size, anti-elitism, wealth born from good choices, pride of our past, all of it. Whether true or not, most of us feel that way, and when you step into a Yukon Denali, a Navigator, an Escalade, a town car, pickups, most Americans understand it. Even if it’s not their style or preference. RCR reminds me of our different, very silly, American car choices, and that I like the people who drive them.

You can’t bolt a solid steel roof rack directly into the frame of this thing and the engine wasn’t developed in 2001, so probably not.

I’ve never noticed that these had push button transmissions! I mean it makes sense with the Lincoln Continental of the same year having that feature. I guess I always assumed these had the Ford shift knob like in a Fusion, or a console shift like in an F-150

I have one of these. Mine has had nothing but issues, it’s comfy. But with only 68k miles on it it’s already had to have the engine completely rebuilt due to lifter failure. The reverse camera has been replaced 3 times and the lower control arms 2 times. Don’t buy one. The windshield is a rock magnet I’ve had to replace the whole thing like 6 times.

The car is great the powertrain is not. It’s faster than it has any reason to be, but the engine is problematic.

Lincoln Navigator Reserve L. The official car of freshly minted grandparents who spent more time at the lake in their mid-20s through early 40s than they did with their children's upbringing. The same people who of a sudden can't keep their grubby hands off the grandbabies because "I jUsT LLLLLAAAAAAAWWWWWVVVVVEEEE kiDS!" However, the voice inside your head knows well enough that not only are they trying to make up for lost time, you also know they want to gaslight you into thinking they were good parents, so when their flame is extinguished and it's their turn to be ushered into the chamber of memories, their legacy is solidified. But you know their legacy is about as solid as the build quality of the Ford Fusion Titanium they traded for this behemoth, which is now the same size as the lie they're desperately trying to cover up.

Totally agree with your last statement.... i'm just an average guy with an average income.. i bought a newer model S-Class Mercedes Benz as as splurge for a reasonable price. I hide the damn thing....I don't take it to work incase my coworkers were to see it, I make sure the neighbors aren't out or even the mailman isn't on the street before i even decide to take it out of the garage incase somebody were to see me in a vehicle that i zero business being in on paper. But at the end of the day, i can afford it, and the maintenance that comes along with it, so why not enjoy a little bit of comfort, even if its is my own little secret.

I rather like the looks of these Lincoln Navigators and they drive nice as well. Thank you for reviewing one of these. It is a bummer to hear that the engine on these is so temperamental and that it was not designed better. I seriously doubt any rental car company with these Lincolns is doing oil changes that frequently.

The general manager at the dealership I work at drives one of these as his demo, when he sent it down to service to get an oil change all the mechanics cringed because it’s so damn long they have to use a special rack to get it up in the air, the jack points are too far apart for a normal rack😂
