I held one of these recently while trying to find my new bow for 2018. I thought it felt very top heavy, I was not used to that from my current bow.
@jcarry52143 жыл бұрын
Would you recommend this or any other Mathews dual cam for an advanced beginner shopping for their first modern compound? What I've been told is to steer clear of dual cam bows and go with older solo cams but there has to be some exceptions, Mathews doesn't only design for super experienced shooters.

I was skeptical cause i own the Halon 32 but I shot it and it is a sweet shooting, quiet, and vibration free bow. Will probably get it to hunt with and 3D shoot the 32

Curse you Mathews!... Always corrupting my traditional archery mindset with your pretty little compounds! lol, good looking little bow.
@dylangreen98197 жыл бұрын
Billythebassist Same for me. I like PSE's too. I'll stick with a modern longbow or a Wengerd custom recurve.
@Billythebassist7 жыл бұрын
Yep, it's terrible... I'm like you, think I'll just find a nice little modern recurve and trick it out.... keep the ol Grizz on the rack for awhile. I like the new Bear compounds too but..... If I ever got a compound it would have to be a Mathews.
@dylangreen98197 жыл бұрын
Billythebassist I got a 1965 Grizzly, 45 pounds. Not hanging it up yet. I like alot of the new bear compounds too. I hear they are very quiet.

I have an early 70's Grizzly 45#, Was my dads first bow, mine as well... guess that's why I'm thinking of hanging it up.... to preserve it. It's a real sweet shooter though.

Billythebassist Does it have the two tone or just green riser? Mine has a zebrawood riser and brown fiberglass.

I have an opportunity to buy a Bear Alaskan or a used Matthews Triax from my local shop. I've watched all your videos on this series and have heard some say that these new budget bows might be better than older flagships. Which one would you recommend? I really appreciate your input.

Add a damper one year take it off next year. Make it 30" one year 32 the next. Same fps as my old reezen. Still has hand shock too. I'm sticking with my old setup till they go ahead and make something worth talking about.

@mikem41627 жыл бұрын
had the halon 6 in 2016. loved that bow. barely felt any hand shock at all, compared to my pse, which might as well as felt like a gun compared to the halon. I think a lot of this is bs tho. it's basically the same exact bow with some new "technology" usually a new dampner or stabilizer. and they try to sell you on getting the new model each year.

Mathews has become the "we'll repackage anything that sells (s)cam" I'm still trying to figure out what the "real" improvements have been since the Helium days??? But keep your eyes peeled for the brand new super duper 2019 Mathews el fantazmo electri-bow!

They actually already know what their bows will be 10 or more years out. They won't come out with their newest designs because the bows would be so different from now they might not sell well being that the technology is so foreign. Also it's good policy to show steady changes in design. They know how to milk the buyers.

I own a Halon and a Halon 32. These are the best bows I’ve ever shot as well as super reliable. Thank god mathews didn’t come out with a carbon riser. A higher mass weight aids in stability and accuracy. Besides the fact carbon fiber risers warp over time. I’ve been mountain biking for years and the only material to fail me time and time again is carbon fiber. No thank you. The only way I can possibly understand why people are calling for Mathews to make a carbon fiber riser or decrease the weight of their aluminum risers is because these very people are new to archery and/or hunting. They spend more time on archery talk than they do on the range or in the woods. They have no understanding of the benefits of a higher mass weight, increased shock absorption, or greater durability. Carbon fiber is not the material I would trust to bring into the woods or on a multiple day mountain hunt. It’s a fact that when pressure is applied to carbon fiber it will bend and warp over time. Maybe these people need to hit the gym or shoot their bows more and spend less time on the computer. If Mathews did what Hoyt did and present three new $1,600+ bows and only one aluminum riser bow (that is a poor rendition of the Halon) I will be buying a Prime or a Bowtech. In my opinion Hoyt has made a mistake by listening to the people that know the least. Carbon Fiber has its benefits and its contributions to advancing technology but it’s not highly regarded for its tight tolerances which is everything in achieving accuracy in archery. There’s a reason why your carbon fiber limbs are plus or minus 3 pounds of pull weight. It’s not an exact science. Aluminum is superior in every way for a bow riser. I really hope Mathews will continue implementing and prioritizing a metal for the build of their risers.

We need a Ravin like competitor in compounds - these incumbents like Matthews and Hoyt have status quo bias -- we need someoen to really disrupt these companies who own the market share but are NOT innovating. Look what Ravin did in the crossbow market - all those companies doing the same old crap year after year got a wake up calll ... we need this in compound ...

John Doe but seriously if I had this bow at a 29 inch draw with a quiver on it and my arrows in it I may as well have a 30 inch bow. Because my arrows are gonna be hanging over the ends of the thing.
@gospeltech19267 жыл бұрын
10 Acres it will hang off the end of the limbs and that is where it bothers me. When in my stand I hold my bow during the time I’m expecting to see something and I rest the limbs on my leg. I would rather keep my quiver on my bow. I’m sure it’s a great bow but with the string angle difference I don’t want to go less than 30 ata. Besides the Halon 30 is only .1 heavier and 2 fps faster and will probably be cheaper now that this bow is out.

does anybody even make bows that ARENT dead in the hand these days? pretty much every bow on the market is nearly vibe free and once you put a stab on them they ARE vibe free. so trying to sell the idea that this bow is EXTRA vibe free as compared to like a HTR seems kinda....dumb.
@Thisshitcrazybruh7 жыл бұрын
rob clay The HTR seems like a rattle trap compared to a Halon. All bows have some vibration, they just make it less every year.
@Roamingeast7 жыл бұрын
thats a strong statement. The HTR has been the recorded quietest compound bow for 2015, 16, AND 17. id be surprised that anyone thinks its a 'rattletrap' at all.
@Thisshitcrazybruh7 жыл бұрын
rob clay I owned the HTR for a year, and "rattletrap" is a figure of speech. It's a great bow, but it lacks the solid feel of the Halon series. Great bow though.

Mathews Archery design model... Make a bow 30 inches in 2016. For 2017 add 2 inches and the following year take away 4 inches for a 28 inch bow... Wow.... Catch us if you can??? Mathews Inc.... You've been caught.... :(
@Thisshitcrazybruh7 жыл бұрын
Ean Green They have been caught??? I doubt it. Hoyt simply changes the number of loops in their risers, and gives it a different name. PSE simply repeats itself. Bowtech blows up limbs on hideous looking bows. I'm afraid Mathews, Elite, and Obsession are on top.

10 Acres Levi Morgan is also sponsored by Mathews. Therefore he has to shoot it. They are paying him big bucks, do you really think he's gonna bad mouth a new bow they're paying him to shoot? Of course not! I'm a Mathews fan myself so no hate here but I'm a little disappointed in this years bow. I really thought something big would come out from Mathews this year. :(

10 Acres I use a mission from Mathews because of the size....it just fits me better and I love it. I want an upgrade in quality as I know mission is a base model with some cheaper construction but most bows are so huge and clunky.....this looks amazing.
@theballpythonproject65987 жыл бұрын
10 Acres awesome. The dealer I got my mission from told me mostly women and teens buy the mission because of the smaller size, I'm not super short or anything for the comfort on size and my draw length had a lot to do with buying the smaller bow. He also said it's a great bow because of the size, so I definitely need to go try this bow and see what I can do about picking one up, maybe going into next season. Thanks

28"... 6" brace height... no forgiveness... no thank you
@adrenalizeoutdoorproductio96887 жыл бұрын
10 Acres Nothing to do with the gym, which I'm no stranger to btw. Lol It's about stability and forgiveness. There is a reason everyone left the tiny bow trend. You do get a fast, light, and compact bow, but lose forgiveness and stability for those awkward treestand shots that happen in less than perfect conditions. I'm sure it's a fantastic 3D bow and I would love to shoot it! But those stats make it seem more like a gimmick bow for hunters during a year when the other manufacturers have it figured out. There are some people that it'll work great for, but that's my perspective anyhow.
@adrenalizeoutdoorproductio96887 жыл бұрын
It better shoot real nice, it is a flagship bow! I completely believe you and I bet its a fantastic target bow. The brace height is a big factor to me. I also realize that the brace height isn't as much of a factor as it used to be since bows are getting faster. But there are bows on the market achieving these speeds with a more forgiving 7' brace height. From a treestand, I am going to take the 7" all day long for any forgiveness I can get in less than perfect conditions and angles with buck fever. If I'm shooting 3D/target, give me a 6". ... I think this is Mathews' exploration of that small bow trend with the use of the 2018 technology and I'm sure that they will fill a very happy niche in the industry by doing that. I would be very curious to shoot this bow given the length and see if the size and technology in this bow is here to stay for next year.

Bows are to expensive dont matter what brand
@mknight51596 жыл бұрын
Well they are when you purchase one every single year. Lucky for me, it's time for an upgrade. Been hunting with a Diamond Razor Edge for the last 8 years. Any bow works . Don't need to spend too much. A new bow every 10 years seems reasonable to me for how much hunting I do.
@ericb63905 жыл бұрын
I got the mission switch, which is made by matthews and i love the bow, its lower priced than the regular matthews bows, and verrrry adjustable, can go from 17 inch draw to 31 inch draw, and 11lbs to 70lbs draw, i got it at $399, which when looking at other greatly made bows was very well priced i thought(although am new to archery), but even my pro shop guy said how quiet and stable it was,, i shot it and no vibration and very quiet, if looking for great bows with great prices you may want to check out mission by matthews bows :)

isaacheidi What were you hoping for? This seems like the ultimate hunting bow. Short, manuverable, fast, and quiet. What more could you want?
@isaacheidi7 жыл бұрын
Libtards R Cancer I prefer a bow 32 ata or longer. I'm 6'2" with a 30 inch draw. My draw is longer than the bow. My experience is an unstable platform and poor accuracy past 30 yards with short ata bows.
@Thisshitcrazybruh7 жыл бұрын
isaacheidi I am also 6' 2" with a 30" draw. I shot the z7 xtreme very well, so I'm betting money that this bow will be rock solid. I currently have the Wake, but it's a bit much to carry in the woods.
@isaacheidi7 жыл бұрын
Libtards R Cancer Glad it works for you. Just doesn't for me. The extreme string angle causes me to tuck my head I prefer to have a steeper string angle. If they would have come out with a 34 ata bow might have given one a shot. I owned the 32 and it was nice just moved on to another bow I shoot better. I'm by no means a stuck on one company guy. Lots of good companies producing stellar bows.
@isaacheidi7 жыл бұрын
10 Acres Don't need to. They didn't change enough from last year to cause me to want to shoot. Same cable stops and same grip, the two things I don't care for. Love the draw cycle of the crosscentric cam but can't stand the grip and spungy back wall. I've shot limbstop bows too long that is what works for me.
