Exactly! They are so under rated. We love our Mitz vehicles, from the Lancer, to the Outlander and two Outlander Sports. The only one we no longer have is the Lancer because of an idiot driving like a nut in his black mustang, lost control and hit us and totaled the car. But we were fine, thank God. One day the Eclipse Cross will join the family too as an addition. We have no intention in trading in the ones we have. Loved them.

Mitsubishi is probably the most underrated marque in the US. My ex-girlfriend has a 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer and that thing is still running with over 250k miles. I also own a 1997 Mirage Coupe with over 170k miles and it´s still running strong and use it as a beater car. Never understood why so many americans just like hating this brand.
@choffman99156 жыл бұрын
I think a lot of people hate it is not because of the reliability but because they think they're outdated and they kind of just want Mitsubishi to stop trying. I personally am someone who just likes unique cars and I like Mitsubishi because not many people have their cars. I don't know why a lot of people think their cars are outdated, I think they look fresh inside and out. Some gripes I can understand like build quality and engine power or whatever but dealers are practically giving Mitsubishis away and with a 10 year 100k mile warranty it's a damn good deal. I wish more people knew that.

My experience. I got a 18 outlander a week ago. All reviews Ive seen asides a very select few bash everything. I came from a mk3.5 focus with the oh so reliable dual clutch transmission. Worst decision of my life the interior was crap after 20k miles and I mean everything rattled even the fan inside the dash. 10k trying to keep it reliable and soon as the warranty went out. clutch started slipping 20k miles later. Ill say few things about the outlander I don't like but its very very nice I personally like the simple interior I don't want the screen sitting on dash and the funky designs they use hoping someone will like it. Personally I love it. Mpg is great. from everyone that actually owns one I know they have been super reliable. Its not about how much horsepower you got or that 0-60 time most want a reliable a to b vehicle that's capable of everyday and good on gas. Rides like a cadilac too. I couldn't be happier and I went to honda Toyota kia ford chevy dodge jeep everyone I spent months test driving finding what I wanted and this was perfect. im 6,4 and ride very comfortable. Coming from a 16 ford focus ive upgraded in almost every way possible.also cant beat the warranty that comes with the outlander.

I think the one brand that is outdated is Toyota..they been making the Corolla since the 1980's and most companies change their models after so many years but Toyota keeps making the same sedan that does not do much. While this Outlander Sport I'm sure was not made in the 1980's. Mitsubishi makes their suvs strong and useful and capable. Toyota makes their rav4 and that model is ultra rarely 4WD and does not have much power. I love Mitsubishi and my 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander GT is really great. As of now Mitsubishi has already sold 95,000+ from September 2018... over 100,000 cars sold in the USA is almost there! ;)
@barryervin85365 жыл бұрын
You cannot seriously believe that a Toyota Corolla today is the same car as a Toyota Corolla in the 1980s? It's just a name. Like Mustang, or Corvette, or Maxima, or Mini Cooper...… As a retired auto mechanic I can assure you that none of these cars share anything whatsoever in common with their namesakes from 30+ years ago.

I don't care about how these reviews say about Mitsubishi being outdated. My 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander GT does the job great and built very well. I took it on long road trips, trips in the hot desert going camping and a off road dirt ride, and taking it up a mountain and unexpected going on a side of a mountain off road to get to a camp site. I really enjoy it and get my money worth with it;) I would buy it again, but maybe the Outlander PHEV version that just came out. I highly recommend this brand to anyone who is looking for real reliable and made in Japan.

Highly recommend! Biggest bargain out there. Have owned 4 over past 6 years with 200,000+ trouble free, carefree miles. Average 27 city/32 hwy mpg. Ok, so they aren’t fancy like some other marquee brands, but I got fabulous deals saving $10k over other brands. We’ve owned both the Outlander and the Outlander Sport and love them both. At first I leased and was sad to have to part with the cars when the leases expired, so I bought two to replace. Both are keepers!

When my mom was in the market for a new CUV, I told her to check out the Outlander Sport. She loved it and bought a new 2015 GT. 2yrs and 20k miles later, zero problems and she still loves it. Well-built. Dependable reputation. Surprisingly good on gas (over 30mpg hwy). 2.4L has adequate get-up-and-go. The interior is very comfortable. The CVT is silky smooth. Unless you have a lead foot, there is no annoying droning noise. I'd take this CVT over a geared transmission that shifts constantly in city driving and hilly country driving.
@chadhaire17116 жыл бұрын
CVT gearboxes suck in my book, but since the Outlander is a nice vehicle to drive, the CVT didn't bother me that much in this vehicle...
@palebeachbum6 жыл бұрын
I live in a city/suburban setting. I had a CVT equipped car. I loved the lack of shift points. A distracted driver rear-ended me, totaling that car. I'm now driving a vehicle with a 4-spd auto. The constant shifting between red lights and engaging and disengaging of the lockup torque converter around 45mph is annoying as hell to me.
@chadhaire17116 жыл бұрын
Well if you enjoyed driving a CVT car because it had no shift points and hated the 4-speed auto (which was obsolete 10 years ago), I take it you use a car for just transport ONLY and otherwise have no interest in cars otherwise. Some day you will have to get behind the wheel of a Mustang GT with 460 horse engine and 10-speed automatic--it might wake you up! Or if you can't find one, look at my video i just did on the 2018 Mustang GT and go along for the ride......
@palebeachbum6 жыл бұрын
chad haire no sir I love cars and love driving. I just prefer a smooth and refined driving experience fhough, not constant shifting around town. You are correct about the 4-spd. Driving a 2007 GMC Canyon currently. At least the shifts are smooth.

Revisiting this review because I'm thinking about an Outlander Sport again. I like and fully agree with what you said at the end, that reviewers saying it's an outdated vehicle is irrelevant because it's pleasant to drive and is worth buying. They're dependable. They cost thousands less than the competition. The warranty is stellar. Some of the best quality vehicles I've ever had the pleasure of owning were "outdated" designs. The latest in design is not always the greatest if you value reliability in a vehicle. Look at all the problems manufacturers are experiencing with carbon buildup problems on GDI engines and oil burning and dilution with small turbo motors. NO THANK YOU VERY MUCH. They can keep their "latest and greatest" offerings.

With age comes reliability and discounts. I think the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Subaru Crosstrek are better Sub-Compact SUVs because they’re based off the Small Cars, Lancer and Impreza, instead of those based off of sub-compact cars like the HRV/Fit and CX3/Mazda2.

Hi Chad, I love your review on the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. I bought mine in May, and the minute I test drove it, I fell in love with it. Mine is a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2.0L LE Limited Edition model. I upgraded my 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage DE to this beautiful red mobile. I had my eyes on this Mitsubishi Outlander Sport for the last 2 years. I paid off my Mirage last year and was in research for another car. Long story short, I was at first considering to buy an EV, a 2023 Chevy Bolt but due to my budget, I decided to wait. Fast forward to May, my mine is still on a new car, I was looking into the 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 Black Edition model, and I contacted my local Mitsubishi Dealership to check if they have any available for a test drive and the sales consultant say yes, and then I was searching through their used Mitsubishi cars section and came across the beautiful 'Red' rose. I test drove the red mobile first, and the second I left the lot. I felt so right! A very comforting feeling came over me! Now, I came back to the dealership lot and test drove the Mirage G4 and unfortunately my interest to the car dip as fast as I left the lot. It was no longer practical for me because since I drove a hatchback Mirage, driving a sedan was the same feeling and was a bit disappointed of that feeling. Don't get me wrong on the Mirages! They are absolutely awesome and reliable, but I think is great as a first car not seconds. So at the end, I decided to trade-in my Mirage and finance to get the red mobile. I left the lot feeling so nervous but happy. My emotion didn't take in effect until the night when I was at home and began to tear up because I finally finished another great milestone and going through a dealership for the first time and financing a car on my own. That's what came over me that same night I bought my dream car and have no regrets whatsoever! So even though, I was 5-years too late on watching your review, fast forward 5 years later, and your review confirms my love for my used 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, so thank you, sir!🫡 P.S. Mitsubishis are hands-down the best and reliable cars out there that most people oversee and don't want to try them out. Last note before I end this long story on my Mitsubishi journey: My first car was a used 2003 Mitsubishi Galant that was bought used in 2010 by my dad for my little sister, but I took it in my possession and fell in love with it. That's where my love and passion comes from loving the Mitsubishi!😅 Have a great day, Chad and don't stop making car reviews videos!🤙👍🤘

I think Mitsubishi could have a niche market. Build solid and basic vehicles. Become like the old Volvo and Mercedes of the last. I actually like basic controls. Basic seat adjustment and basic temp control. Outdated? I don’t care about that as long as it’s not crappy reliability and a good go to car and an alternative to a Volkswagen and American cars. And cheaper but good alternative to Toyota Mazda and Honda.

Have have two 2010 Lancer Sportbacks that I bought new in 2011. I never needed to use that excellent warranty on either one in seven and a half years. Nothing but regular maintenance. They're the most reliable cars I've ever owned. As you aid, Mitsu dealers really discount. The headlight alignment is really useful in heavy fog (when turned down towards the road). I've gotten used to the CVT and recently drove a rental (Toyota Yaris iA) with a six speed auto. I didn't like the slight jerking when shifting on the conventional auto now. Unfortunately they added fake shift points to today's CVTs... which just seems stupid.

I’ve driven both my Outlander and Outlander Sport in 4wd lock up to/at 70 mph in terrible Ohio winters. Mitsubishi’s also have a 4wd “auto” setting that drives in 2wd until it detects slippage, at which time it automatically activates 4wd and portions energy to the required wheel(s) accordingly. I found the auto setting handled rain and light snow wonderfully, and only used 4wd lock in heavy, nasty snow and road conditions. It’s truly an amazing and excellent system.

I drove a 2019 today. I hated the driver lumbar support. Too pronounced and can’t be adjusted. Deal breaker. It was great turning radius and was peppy

Lumbar support? Its a Mitsubishi not a Mercedes---who needs Lumbar? Save your money for a case of scotch and hooker---or come to USA and buy a nice assault rifle!!

Only wannabe gear heads "like" steering feel and feedback. And only because it's a fad to like it. Boosted steering with no feel is BEST.

Wouldn't fancy driving on some of the roads here (UK) with those. Potholes would shatter them in about 5mins.

The potholes are so deep here they found an old Japanese soldier who didn't realize WW2 had ended in one the other day.

I could never buy any Mitsubishi product. I had a friend who has since passed away but he was in WWII. He spoke of how Mitsubishi built the Japanese Zeros that took out so many of our boys as he put it. I can buy a Toyota, Honda or Subaru with a clear conscious, but considering a Mitsubishi always makes me think back to my friend Bill. Just me. Political commentary aside, I liked the video though.
@BullieDad1006 жыл бұрын
Those would be individual decisions. Just as it is my decision not to buy Mitsubishi products as it always reminds me of a very good man's feelings and out of respect for his memory & service I buy other brands. As I said, "Just me". It is America and to each their own. It is my individual decision not to buy VW's due to reliability issues and the attempt by VW to deceive us all. BMW's are just a bit pricey to buy & maintain for me,although I have enjoyed driving both VW's & BMW's. I hope the good people of Japan do buy GM & Ford vehicles too.

Daniel Grewe we literally dropped 2 nukes. Evens up somehow. And considering they haven't been hostile at all. I think your being to dang "murican"
@BullieDad1006 жыл бұрын
Your opinion. I stand by my previous statements. It has everything to do with respect for a friend. Anybody care to pick a fight when all I'm doing is respecting a friend's memory go ahead. The meaning appears to be lost on some of you. "murican" =American? If so, I presently have a 2017 Toyota Corolla SE and a 2015 Kia Optima SX in my driveway. Before that was a Subaru Legacy.
