2018 Tacomas steering wheel on 4th gen 4runner.

I bought this 2018 Toyota Tacoma steering wheel from eBay. The wheel and the airbag cost me about 500 shipped. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

This video is SUPER helpful! Were you not able to re-use the cruise control cable that came on the Tacoma steering wheel to avoid cutting the 4Runner wheel's cable? Is it a different plug?

Yes, the 4runners have their own plug in. Tacoma is wired with the rest.

@@Nashharis8758 Sorry maybe I'm misunderstanding something, I was asking about that white plug that's hanging from wiring from Tacoma wheel, can't that be plugged into Cruise control plug of original 4runner cruise control?

@@eugenen5953 ha I see what you're saying. No, because you only have one connection switch for the 4runner. You have to pin the wires for the cruze control. It's kind of hard to explain over the keyboard but if you follow the process in this video you should be just fine. One thing I do want to say, couple of the steering wheel buttons don't work. I just couldn't figure out where they should go.

hey buddy I have the 05 4 runner and those lights flashing on you dash is the steering whell alignment sensor it has to be reset it's from bad rack and pinion or removing the steering wheel toyoman

Did you find the steering wheel with the airbag, or did you have to purchase separately?

Separately. Most sellers will separate them, but if you message them, they might have both.

Hey Buddy, First of all great videos keep filming more tips. I have a question regarding the 2wd - 4wd switch i noticed you have a 2wd and 4wd switchable is that an add on ? Or you bought like that. Is your vehicle V6 or V8? I have the same car with V8 engine but it is only a 4wd is there any option or parts to change so i can make it a switchable ?? Thanks

Thanks bud, I have a lot more videos but need to find time to put them together and post. Mine is a V8 and this option was included from the factory. I'm sure there's a way to add/replace the module which is under the glove box but you'll also need to replace a ton of wiring and probably buy a whole new wiring harness and will cost you a fortune. I say best leave be brother lol

This is great! I noticed you have a different style head unit I’ve installed an android one as well but I had difficulty connecting it to the steering wheel controls. I could never determine the three wires used for that. If you have any knowledge around the wires I would definitely appreciate it

Nelson, I would have to mess with it myself lol I can't advice anything buddy I really would need to see your set up and what you have for the head unit. I can tell you the one I have needed no complications to set it up, customized it the way I wanted each key to work.

Yes, most used parts seller will separate the airbags from the wheels. But, before I purchased the wheel, I sent a message to the seller and he sold me the matching bag as well.

2015 and up. I bought it off ebay.

how did you get the wire into the connector without the right pins?

They simply snap on and off with the pin removal tool. Also, the pins are alike. Just needed to relocate a few.

So the red wire is for the lights. Did you put that in the right location? If yes, check and see if it's all the way in and snug in the connector.

Hey nash im currently doing this mod to my 4runner also but with a 2018 steering wheel, i could really use ur help to find out what cables need to be re-routed since mine has difrent colored cables and i think it has 2 or 3 more than what you came across

I know they make the harnesses to directly install a newer stereo from different Toyota models (the 2015 yaris for example) on the 4th gens but I haven’t come across adapters/harnesses for plug and play of the steering wheels. It’s a shame because I don’t trust myself to do this wiring on my own and my 07 wheel is so ugly 😂
