Black carpet looks amazing with the finished product
@ThomasCochran1272 жыл бұрын
Gotta love the list of instructions they say you must follow when you have to figure out the most important part on your own 🙄. I bought a 2003 4runner 6 years ago that I’ve been refurbishing and learning to DIY on. The philosophy of stop crying and figure it out is key to success! Cool video man. These 4.7L, especially without vvti, really are Toyota’s most indestructible motors.

You make it look easy. I might have to do it cuz the sunroof drain in my 08 4runner got plugged up and drained out on my driver side floorboard. I was just watching to see about how to peel up the carpet on that side, but now, if I can't get the mildew smell out I think I can actually do this. Thanks for the video

Just stumbled across you. Just brought a fourth GEN V8 forerunner. With 164,000 on it. It’s in pretty good shape. I’d like to do some stuff like put a lift kit on get rid of that x-ray or whatever it’s called suspension.little bit of a chicken to do up by myself. Oh yeah, I live here in New Mexico too. Going to try to watch more of your videos.

The v6 honestly is just as good on the 4runner as the v8. The way the v6 is made it performs so good that the v8 isn't a huge difference. Either way though i love my 03 4runner. I have the same issue it sat in somebody's driveway for 5+ years when i got it, it leaked so much that mold was growing all over the inside i finally got it cleaned with carpet cleaner shampoo for pets and elbow grease. Currently pulling the trim out now to spray it and im just going to dye the carpet black to hide anything and everything

Do you live at sea level? I’m at 7k feet. The 4.0 is terrible up here. 4.0s get 16mpg. V8s get 20mpg. Altitude

Did you have to transfer over the clips attatched to the old carpet for the sides you had to disconnect with a screw driver? If not, is there anything holding those down or just the trim panels?
@Shadowman...11 ай бұрын
Theirs a difference between _Carpet_ and _Molded Carpet._ looks like you got the regular carpet. Molded carpet is heat shaped at the factory to conform to the shape of the interior but it costs more approx $200+ for a 4 runner or Highlander. But you can get a nice look from regular carpet also and save some money. Maybe try using some type of carpet/fabric adhesive or spray adhesive to help hold things in place, But you still did an AWESOME job and it looks really nice.
@steinfabgarage11 ай бұрын
Thank you, I believe it is molded, it was about 200$ and was contoured near the rear seats. My only complaint is the lack of holes

Thanks for posting this video !! Very helpful, what did the carpet set you back ??
I am getting ready to change the carpet in my 03 V8 Limited, carpet is smelling bad. Love my 300,000 mile 4 runner, it gets almost the same gas mileage as my neighbors 06 V6 4 runner plus the engine is much stronger and runs at 2100 RPM's at 75 mph, much less strain on the motor and lighting fast. Did you find any other carpet suppliers that have the holes precut and will fit without trimming? I changed the carpet in a 1996 Suburban last summer and the bulk of the time was due to trimming carpet. Like your videos as I watched the one about changing headlights and I am doing that this weekend. Keep on posting more projects about the Gen 4, great vehicle.

I did not find any alternatives with the carpet already trimmed. The only one I think would be Toyota, but they only go 10 years back so 2012 is the oldest they would have. Thanks for watching! More content is in production

The only thing about the V8 is, if I'm not wrong, that they have a timing belt (as opposed to the timing chain in my V6; that has 344,000 and counting, btw...

Great video. My 4Runner has electric seats. Is there any reason why I would need to disconnect the battery while doing this project? If so, I think loosening the front bolts on the two front seats, then moving the seat all the way forward an then disconnect the batteries would work. Thanks again for the great video!!!
