This was one of the best reviews I seen of this generation. Wanted to ad the 4x4 lock only works bellow 25 mph as it should and is great to use when you really want to know your in the best traction it can have at low speeds , I use it all the time on my steep driveway also the 6 speed transmission in standard shift mode gives added control and for slowing without the brakes down hills. I love my 2017 so much I still do searches on it after owing it for years. Good job whoever detailed that car as I thought it was new/super clean.

great to hear you still love the car after years, I'm looking to get a used rav4 2017-2018. I plan on owning it for a long time. I have a vw golf alltrack that I bought new 2018. But it is not toyota quality, the ac stopped working 2 times, squiks and rattles after 2 years, vibration problems.. I dont want to spend the money for the latest rav4 gen, so this rav4 looks like a good used car to buy.

@@kribaska Not one real issue now in almost 3 years. Was 22,000 when I got it and about 28 now , basic le model , got nitto nomad grappler tires and still see well over 30 mpg in standard shift mode.

I actually like this generation’s styling better than the current generation, although its reported 6”+ ground clearance would be a bit problematic where I live. (7” minimum is best.)
@brianruperti

@@dbsantanapr if you find any; the most reliable year of the hybrid is the 2018 model year. I bought one last month and I’ve spoken to a number of Toyota master technicians who’ve got over 20 years of experience working with these cars. If you decide to go for the new generation of the RAV4; avoid the 2019 and 2020 model years as they received a lot issues with accelerating, gas tank issues, both interior and exterior parts quality issues. The 2018 year is more refined, has more sound insolation material so it makes the ride very quiet. And if you’re into the little things; this RAV4 has reclining rear seats where the new generation of RAV4 has very limited motion for a recline seat option for the rear passengers.

Curious question here. Would the 2018 hybrid model be significantly more reliable than a standard 2018 rav4? Enough to hand over a few thousand more dollars for? Just curious, I'm looking for best bang for buck, I have tried to do research on best years for the rav4. And it looks like 2016 thru 2018 would be okay. Avoid 2019 and 2020. Just curious about the 2018 hybrid and if it'd be worth it to find one

You’re welcome. If the city mileage on the hybrid will be used, seek one. If you won’t benefit much from that, consider finding a gas model. Both are great 👌🏼

2013-2018 Rav4s are my least favorite design. They just look so cheap, boring and small. I have a 2012 Rav4 which is the last model year with the spare tire in the back and I love it. I like how rugged it looks and the spare tire being there actually came very handy 4-5 times when I got a flat. So easy to change. The 2020 model is nice but I am never selling my 2012. It has 230k miles and I never did anything to it other than routine maintenance.

2012 are sweet. And V6 was offered! The car market was a cool place in 2009-12. For 13-18 they went submissive and efficient, to stay on top of the demand of delicate little gas savers. Now for 2019-current, we are seeing the bold design come back. The mean face, bigger front end, louder engine, more power, and buttons for different terrains. Plus you can do all that AND get a hybrid if you want! The RAV4 market is much different than the 4runner market if you get what I’m saying.
