Having a 2013 Explorer (not to be called like that anymore) I can tell you that the biggest point here is to understands these "adventure" bikes for either being off-road capable or comfortable for touring. In getting those two figured out the most within your time of riding you'll find the answer to which is better. I will change my 1200 explorer ONLY for this bike, I would not give it up for a KTM or a GS. I have TRIPLE smooth reasons to do it.

I put 90 000 kms on mine (2012 model) with 0 problems and i still love it as much as the first day, wether she gets me to my job or to the other side of Europe. Lovely bike, incredible quality. Only thing i don't like about it is the classic triumph vacuum cleaner sound but it seems like it's fixed on the recent models. Analog rev meter was pretty nice too, i don't really like those new dashboards but oh well, i might just be old.

Don’t get the weight debate around adv bikes. You can either ride the bike or you can’t ! If you feel the bike is to big and heavy then buy a smaller one. Or take a course at a off-road school. Most brands actually have their own nowadays. Or touratech. Saying a adv bike is to big and heavy is getting really old since it is totally subjective. To me it’s like saying a sportbike is to fast and has to much hp. Great review !! Love to see these big bikes getting some love !! 😎🤘

Triumph has come a long way, hasn't it? Just look at that screen and all the knobs and joysticks and buttons and features and clever details like no TSAS in front... I'm impressed! 👍👍 And another important thing that shows Triumph does listen - weight loss. People have spoken and Triumph has made an effort. Brilliant!

Is anyone else as excited as me to see the R3 vs RC390 video? I'm looking into a trackbike and the choices at the minute are between the R3 and the RC390 so the video will be a big part of my choice. No channels really cover A2 bikes and I feel like it's a hole in the market that needs a good 44Shaft in it ;)
@ventisette.7 жыл бұрын
And it sooooo desperately needs an Aprilia. Right now a RS125 with a basic tune spanks any A2 bike on track and around decent roads.
@QQGamerOG7 жыл бұрын
An rs125 standard tune probably wouldn’t beat a lot of A2 bikes, a full power model with a can and a good power valve setup would probably stand a chance against A2 bikes but a standard I highly doubt would spank an Rc390 or an R3. Definitely not a mt07 with its ‘A2’ restrictions. There was actually a Rc125/Rs125 on either bvg or 44teeth a while back :)

I've still got my older Tiger (955) and still thoroughly enjoy riding it when I'm going to be riding a lot of dirt roads (don't take the Multi on dirt much), but as nice as the Triple is as a powerplant... it's makes a top heavy bike. That's not really much of a problem on pavement... but get in soft stuff and it's a lot more noticeable. Still... for more street biased riders I've got nothing bad to say about the Tiger line from the 955 up. I've got 70,000 miles on the Triumph without any major repairs, and a lot of those miles were comfortable touring miles... they're great bikes.

Heard somewhere they removed 6 pounds of mass from the flywheel and crank. That's going to be a big difference. Your description about having that connection with the road surface reminds me of how the late V-Strom 1000 feels. Sure it's a different price point and much less electronic bling, but what Suzuki have done is remarkable with the suspension and brakes. It's firm yet supple. It's always telling the rider exactly what's going on at the tire.

Nice looking bike, could use a fender eliminator kit on the rear. That was my only dislike on my RF900R. I took care of that right away tho and put stubby LED turn signals on it. The view from the rear of my Suzuki was breathtaking, I loved it.

When people compare the comfort of the Tiger's seat to the one on a GS, are they talking about the stock BMW one, or the "comfort seat"-option (or both)?

I’m American but for some odd reason, I always root for Triumph. Rockers vs Mods, I guess I was always a rocker. I’m happy to see that they’ve shaved some weight off Le Tigre because I think true off road capable bikes is were the “Adventure” category is headed, ie., Yamaha T7 prototype. For me the Honda AT Adventure Sport is getting the nod right now... but only for right now.
