As a previous owner of an astra and Corsa "crap" I was very impressed when I had one from enterprise for a couple of weeks, brilliant crusier on motorways, pretty fun on A roads round Snowdonia and a very good standard of workmanship all over. If I was to purchase one it would have to be the 2.0 as the 1.6td was enough but I like a little more kick. My kids preferred it over there mums cla220 lol, negatives include lag on the GPS and the fact the steering assistance is automatically on unless you turn it off each time the engine is started.

Sitting in a US-spec Buick Regal hatchback, I am 6'2" tall and setting behind the front seat fit more me, I had adequate room in the rear seat. It wasn't extremely roomy, but it is enough, and is as good as most midsize models. Much better than the predecessor (which I own a 2015 Buick Regal).

Shame you don't get our handling tune or the 3.6l V6 we get in Australia. If you like the size thank Australian engineers who demanded the larger dimensions. Pick of the litter in Australia is the Calais V Tourer , 3.6l V6 AWD. The base engine is 2l Turbo and the 2l Diesel is an option on lower versions. Oh and standard 9 speed auto on all versions.
@OffGridInvestor3 жыл бұрын
And now we know this was the commodore that ENDED GM in Australia. I like the looks but I'm a ford person. I felt sorry for all the guys buying V8 commodores who then had THIS THING as the replacement. I mean NO WONDER the sales flopped. Going from 6.7 V8 to "well you can have the 3.6 renowned for timing chain issues or how about the TURBO 2.0L 4 cylinder!".... MY GOD. If they wanted a 2.0L 4 cylinder they wouldn't bought A HONDA in the first place. Crying shame to see the commodore become this EVEN THOUGH I don't buy holdens.

Thank you for the detailed review Miss Jackson. We won't be seeing a true drive review of the Buick Regal stateside for a few more months, which is essentially the same thing as the Insignia (no diesel of course). That back seat could certainly benefit from more head room, but luckily, I think we're also getting a wagon version here. Does Vauxhall make a version in the UK?
@diegomontoya88897 жыл бұрын
Funnycat I get confused with the naming conventions all the time, because UK calls it the Vauxhall, but it's really all Opel, which is a German Company. And I think the Regal GS we'll get Stateside is not the same Trim level as the Vauxhall Grand Sport Rebecca has here. Ours will be the top trim in GS form...
@derbigpr5007 жыл бұрын
Diego Montoya Opel/Vauxhall make all version of this car, including an estate, yes. Buick is just gonna sell a rebranded version of this, just like the old Regal, they didn't do any development or engineering, just putting their badge on and manufacturing it.
@itsrizzy38837 жыл бұрын
Diego Montoya yeah, our GS will have a v6
@Buc_Stops_Here7 жыл бұрын
While this is close the Buick Regal GS coming to the states, there are a number of differences. As mentioned, a Cadillac 3.6L V6 is standard on the US GS. Also, the digital dashboard (something like the Audi A4s) will also be standard on the US version. It also receives Brembro brakes in the front (from Cadillac), an electronic controlled suspension (from Cadillac), and massage seats as available options. Note, this all costs money so the GS will start at $39,995 US dollars and loaded will approach $48,000. It won't be cheap, but it will be much nicer than the existing GS with a more powerful engine making over 300 horsepower compared to 250 hp for the top of the line turbo unit in Europe.
@matt42396 жыл бұрын
Diego Montoya Vauxhall, Opel and Buick are all owned by GM hence the same car but segregated markets selling the brand that consumers in that market are used to e.g Vauxhall in England, Opel on the continent and Buick in North America.

The reality of just about ALL motor journos who work for companies that review vehicles (and publish weekly/monthly magazines) is that they daren’t be too negative and arguably try to be positive otherwise at the launch of the next vehicle from the brand they’re reviewing they simply won’t be invited back nor asked to review it. No swanky hotels. No all expenses paid bills. It’s a sickly sweet, disingenuous review (personal opinion) which exposes a few minor cracks but ultimately, a solid choice and should definitely be considered a contender in its class (again, all personal opinion & conjecture)

In 2018, this will be sold as the Holden Commodore in Australia replacing the locally made rear wheel drive. The local car, the last being the VF series, had engines of 3.0 litre in Commodore Evoke, 3.6 litre in the SV6 and Calais, or a 6.2 litre V8 in the SS. So this car will need to be a very good car as the VF Commodore was very good. The other hurdle will be the Holden faithful. Will they go for the 'Opel' Commodore, or will they take a stab at the new Kia Stinger, especially those who are seeking performance and the rear wheel drive experience. The Commodore Sportswagon also had over 2,000 litre of total cargo area. More than the Superb.. That is a lot of space. I hope the Opel/Holden Commodore does well, even if the French have bought Opel.

Nice enough and well priced..BUT, is it really sensible to design a car so big with such poor rear headroom? The last model was also very disappointing in this respect. I spent many thousands of miles in the back of one, and frankly the Mondeo is far more spacious and comfortable. It appears that legroom and seat comfort might be better in the new model but headroom is still very poor. Good review WHAT CAR?, but why the annoying music in the background? You're detracting from the narrative..
@chillout11097 жыл бұрын
Robert Marsh If you slouch a bit in the back seat, headroom is fine. Nobody travels for hundreds of miles while seated bolt upright anyways. If you do, your back will become very stiff and very sore long before rear headroom starts to give you any problems.

Diesels are gonna be a whole world of pain for owners as City Councils throughout UK realise they can now charge them on environmental grounds to enter city limits or worse still copy Paris and start banning them from city centres, and govt is still plucking up courage to hit them hard with car tax, but it will come. Bit ironic as new diesels are mostly (manufacturers cheat software excepted) just as clean as petrol.
