2018 Volvo VNL 780 - FULL in depth REVIEW

I’ve been asked if I could go over my impressions on driving one of these Volvo’s. So I decided to take this chance and perform a full in depth Review on this 2018 Volvo VNL 780.
I also bring up the 2018 Volvo VNL 860 bc it’s the direct replacement of this truck, and there are some similarities as well as differences between the two I felt were worthy of noting.
I’ve always wanted to have a review channel, but on cars and SUVs. But, maybe I should aim more towards semi trucks seeing as to how, even though there are “walk throughs” and tours, there aren’t many “in depth” reviews on trucks for perspective buyers in the market.
I hope you enjoy, and I hope this helps you make a decision if you happen to be a perspective buyer, but on the fence about this very large business decision.

14-18 has the most comfortable seat to steering position. I like the position of cup holder in this model. Volvo screwed cup holder position in 19+. The biggest problem with Volvo trucks is that after 3+ years, Volvo's vibrate a lot. Everything starts shaking and vibrating. Volvo needs better insulation. If you drive a 2015 KW T680 you'd notice that KW has better build quality. There was no vibration in 6 years old KW. It was quiet while idling or driving. But KW auto trans sucks. KW seat to steering position isn't comfortable. It's a pain in the a to drive KW in city. Volvo feels like you're driving a car. i-shift is smooth. Also Volvo has a safety feature that if you're driving too fast on a curve, it will automatically slow you down to prevent rollover. However, KW feels much better driving on snow and high windy roads. There's pros and cons to both. I'd go with Volvo for comfort. I love the bunk space of KW W9 series.

great advice on a buying a 3 year old one for half , i went to the extreme and just got a "new" 08 lol pre def, quad X heavy hauler for pennys and building a custom dump truck out of it :)

Oh. Everyone likes that long nose large car but not all states like a long wheelbase with long trailer and use a big sleeper. I prefer soft ride, maneuverable, great fuel economy, and the biggest sleeper on the market. Volvo gives this. By the way I don't have a Volvo, yet!

Personally I like volvo’s we can’t have big cabs and bonnets in Europe but we tend to have bigger power outputs Great truck and enjoy the videos look forward to the next

Cool review! The Peterbilt might have had a certain suspension that worked well. I think there are upwards of four or more variations. The Pete might have had an 8 bag air suspension vs the normal 4. Who knows. Great video!

4:08 I keep bungees on my microwave. My opinion won't be popular. I don't give a flick about long noses or chicken lights. As long as the driver's seat is comfy I could care less. EXCEPT I like my sleepers. The sleeper makes the truck. I'd like a table. Cabinet space is important. A microwave and fridge are a must. I'd prefer an APU, but my boss is cheap. He installed a wabasto which does not keep me cool. I like the beige interior, but learned grey is easier to keep clean. Leather seats breathe better and are easier to clean over cloth. Vinyl everywhere else is super to clean. P.S. windshield washer fluid and a rag is very practical as a cleaner. Every sleeper needs a power inverter. On the outside? I would prefer disk brakes and good strong headlights. The rest is fluff :)

Iam in the process of thinking of going otr, I have CDL A but have been city bus. Whats your thoughts? Iam talking to prime and Danny Herman.

That’s awesome! OTR is definitely more adventurous than city bus driving. I’ve not heard enough on Danny Herman to give a worth while opinion, However Prime is a really good company to get your feet wet in the OTR world. They have several different types of trucking to learn with from reefer, flat, and tanker. It’s definitely a worth while endeavor, ESPECIALLY since you already have your CDL A. This will merely increase your possibilities to earn a decent wage.

The radio in my freightliner is for people with girlie fingers. The only vehicle I've seen with decent size radio buttons is the Ford Crown Victoria. Go figure. Commercial grade vehicles.
