At 25:00 they usually have a nickle balancing on edge on the giant fly wheel crankshaft journal . I have been here 3 times and will go back again. If you go , plan on all three days there is so much to experience.

Rollag is actually FOUR days! Even for a four day show, there is a LOT to see! What a great show this year was - I'll be posting my videos in the next week (I have a LOT to edit)!

This means something to me because it was part of my life growing up but it leaves too much of the story out. These machines required a huge amount of time. Get up at four o’clock in the morning to start building steam pressure, go milk the cows, grab a high energy breakfast (bacon and eggs and mush), go hitch up the teams, throw some wood on the wagon and pump some water into the water trailer, fill the oil cans and oil the bearings on the engine and thresher, load the sheaves (bundles) on the wagons and then start our day as the other men show up on the crew. Today, get up at 7:30, eat a pop tart, turn a key and punch a few keyboard keys. Stop off at the health club to get some exercise and then home to TV and video games.

There definitely was a lot more WORK involved in the tasks of yesteryear! Even today, at the threshing shows usually the steam men are the first ones awake lighting fires in the boilers, getting everything lubricated and all of your water wagons full along with your coal or wood bunkers. There is a lot to it, even when only using them for show and tell!

You've gotta go, Matt. I tried to capture as much as I could, but it truly is too big to get on film in a single day. You need at LEAST two days. The camping areas themselves are amazing!

I don't know how you did the show + 8 hours of travel with poison ivy!

Poison ivy just has to run it's course. Been there. I used to slice an onion and rub the juice on bee, wasp and hornet stings and it works some on poison ivy too. Takes the sting right away but not the swelling. Hope you feel better!
@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Jeff. Yes, this is NOT my idea of a fun way to spend my 7 days off, but at least I don't have to be at work anymore dealing with this crap. Went to the minute clinic because I couldn't stand it anymore and they put me on some steroids and gave a topical cream as well. It helps, as the swelling has reduced greatly but nothing feels better than a COLD shower!

It was kind of a last minute decision - we weren't sure we were going to go simply because of the drive. 8 hours of driving for about 6 hours of exploration time. We made it work though! We will have to catch you at the next one. Next year is the 150th CASE anniversary at WMSTR, and I am going to try to have the Case SC there!

We were there on Sunday. It wasn't bad at all, rained early in the morning before we got there. It was sunny, cool, with a nice breeze! But the poison ivy I'm suffering from just made it too unbearable by about 4pm.
