The amount you need cut out is so insignificant, and its literally at the bottom part of the bumper. OEM hitches are better imo.

@@joshevans3452 Hi Josh, For this hitch its a fairly easy hitch and the car was brand new so I didn't get my hands dirty. But I spent almost two years in a hitch bay install hitches, goose necks, 5th wheels, brake controllers and tow bars. Just about anything customers needed (:

The regular Rav4 towing capacity goes down to only 1000 lbs if the trailer is not equipped with brakes. Nobody seams to know that. (according to the owner's manual in Usa and Canada for the hybrid as well as the gasoline models).

Correct, the aftermarket hitch sits below the bumper and the OEM hitch will go through your bumper.

Nice video. How did you torque the passenger side bolts ? I'm having a devil of a time doing it even with the crowfoot adaptor on the torque wrench, and am worried that the bolts are starting to round off. The clearance is ridiculously tight.

I did not, if you angle the hitch upward, you can slide it right over. The exhaust can be lowered to make it a bit easier if needed!

This is an aftermarket hitch and there is a Toyota Designed OEM hitch. Its possible they are quoting you thier hitch and More complicated install. They also may have quoted you wiring which is not included in this video. Only they can answer that question.

I spoke to the dealership for my own rav 4 in NY and the parts guy says they cut into the bumper and parts are really expensive 500+ hitch, 200+ wiring and 500+ installation is going to be almost 1400 all together.
