I don’t understand that which I was gonna ask in the video what is the difference between a cross country and trail bike and an enduro bike? I only ask this since I’m about to get back into riding and have my heart set on the wr450 since I prefer trail riding and a bit older just turned 30 so didn’t know if a more motocross bike would be good for a guy like me. I’m coming from my way old ttr-125l model when I was a kid but I’ve ridden other bikes quite a bit.

I raced and rode all mx bikes yrs ago and my ktm 450 xcf was by far best bike I ever owned.....I rode mostly mx but raced GP's and mx and loved this bike....I even used 18" rear exclusively.....was such a great bike and cant imagine how newer ones are 10 yrs later

You state that the xc-f has a semi wide ratio trans. Is this new for 19? Because my 18 has the exact same trans gearing as a sx as per the manuals.

Can you tune/adjust these offroad bikes so they have the exact same Hp and power output as their motoX sibilings? I realize they all use the same engines but are De-tuned slightly.... For Snowbike purposes that's horrible but it makes way more sense to start with XC bikes rather than the MotoX..... Any idea?? Thanks.

yz450fx is an awesome bike, for only 2,500$ more you can get first place with the Ktm! LMAO. I like ktm just fine but damn they charge a lot for bikes that break a lot.

FullPull Films the RM-X is a trail bike, not a XC bike. It would fall into a category with models such as the Yamaha WR and Honda 450X, not the bikes we tested.

Cool you guys do this. But it’s just funny to me how literally every one of your shootouts has KTM up top. Meanwhile all the other testers are widely varied. Seems really bias and I’m not saying the KTM isn’t an amazing machine, it just would seem to someone with half a brain there’s more to the MXA KTM relationship than meets the eyes.

Depends on the overall conditions you're rating them by. If enduro and GNCC conditions were the focus, it would do very well. Add in desert and moto conditions, and it drops down the rankings.

I'd like to know why you say that? Riding the 350 xc-f leaves a lot to be desired for myself, I believe they have to have the guts rung out to even try to perform near the 450 fc, fx xc-f that i have riden. Even my relic like 01 400 exc is preferred to any of the 350s i have ridden.

The idea of the XC test was to give them a try in multiple conditions. We played around on a GP course, MX track, sand track, tight trails, rocks, desert area, etc.

And yet no Beta in the test so that doing the shootout could be justified as every rider would give the Beta the win after 2 minutes, but you dig a Sherco out of some European bomb shelter?!

Beta doesn't have a true XC model 450. No exact 450cc bike and all their US models listed have headlights/more of a trail model. Having personally tested three Betas in the past four years, I can say there's no way it would've finished above any of the Japanese or Austrian models in this test (I was one of the test riders).

Michael Lindsay that’s funny you say that because so many guys who were die hard KTM, YZ and CR guys that have ridden mine (300RR race edition) was or other Betas like the 390 ditched the others for the Italian bike; these are seasoned racers in GNCC, D36/37, Big 6. Headlight is standard but you go number plate for racing.

@@Natedoc808 I spent around 5 years racing WORCS and H&H, plus played around on some GNCC and National Enduro courses for model intros...so I have a general amount off-road race experience. In certain aspects the Betas are good but from an overall standpoint it wouldn't do that well in this Shootout. And as a counter point, I know plenty of racers who've raced for Beta at one point or another that were very excited when they got off their bikes. Different boats for different folks per say. In our test, another of our test riders who's had more experience on Betas than I have also agreed their models wouldn't rank that high.
