I drove my managers MDX and I loved how it handled. I didn't feel like I was driving a three row vehicle...That being said, I don't even like looking at my phone while driving EVER, so when I started up the car the fan was blasting and I was trying to figure out how to turn it off. I hate that the fan and the heated seats and everything like that is on a digital screen that I have to look for while I'm driving. Yes I can pull over and adjust whatever I need but I would rather have a dial instead of having to look at a screen while driving to just adjust the fan.

Interior is cheap, and outdated. Very ugly looking 2 screens setup. It also looks pretty fat and heavy on the exterior, AND it has cheap halogen turn signals, and reverse light on the back, and it's a $50k suv....

Just test drove a AWD loaded MDX that had a sticker of $50k. Got a 36 month lease price of $599 with zero down and the dealership pays the first payment. Nice driving vehicle. I would compare it to the Lexus RX.

I ended up going with a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited AWD. Heated seats and steering wheel. Very luxury feeling. Mid $400/mth 36 mth lease. Zero down. Very similar in size and features to my previous Mercedes GLE350. Tired of paying over $700 per mth.

@@elizabethoredein6087 No premium fuel required. I did a 3 year lease and depending on packages (I only added a sun roof to the Limited package) the monthly cost will vary. I live up North for 6 months and down South for 6 months. Riding the Grand Cherokee around and some highway driving, I am impressed. Make sure you get it in the $400's or less if you get the Larado trim. The Limited is very luxurious. You will like it.

I had the 16 tech 2 days ago got the base 19 and I can honestly say im not missing much with the android auto and Google assistance. I went with the blk on blk and the chrome on the outside makes it look really nice

Why all the plastic for buttons? They make all these upgrades that look nice and mix it where they cheaper out on all plastic buttons. Especially the steering wheel. These manufacturers are afraid to give you someone for your money.

You guys do great reviews!! I have had 3 Acuras; bought them all brand new: A 1989 Legend S, a 1994 Legend S, and a 2005 RL. They were all fantastic cars - just gave the RL (they all came fully loaded with SH-SWD, voice command, etc. back then) to my son, and with 112,000 mils on it, it drives and feels like it just drove off the show room floor. I’m planning on switching from a sedan to an SUV, and have decided on the MDX. Ready to buy now, but am hearing that a major redesign, possibly incorporating some of the new RDX features, is headed our way for 2020. I’m curious if you guys have heard anything about it, and when we might start hearing details. I could buy a 2019 Tech+Advance package now, because I like the vehicle, but will consider holding off if the 2020 incorporates some of the newer (especially safety) features out there - like the new rear view camera that the Subaru Ascent has in it which shows a camera view out the back window so that people sitting in the rear seats do not block your view out the rear of the vehicle - what a great idea and something that is bound to catch on quickly. Anyhow, you guys seem to have your finger on the pulse of the market, so any info on the 2020 MDX vs the 2019 MDX would probably be invaluable to those of us trying to decide to buy now or what til the 2020s become available. Acura hasn't said anything official yet but it seems very unlikely that the MDX will go another year without a major redesign. The current model has been out since 2014 M.Y and a redesign in 2020 would match with their typical MDX redesign time table (every 6 years). As far as details, I haven't heard anything yet, but I'd expect it to be very similar to the new RDX in terms of luxury and technology. If the difference between the old and new MDX ends up being the same as between the old and new RDX, it may be worth waiting. But this is all speculation -- nothing official yet. Hope this helps some!

Can I put the ADVANCE PACKAGE rims and wheels onto my Tech package? The Tech package tire seem a little skinnier than the wider wheels on the ASpec and the Advance package...

Yes, all the rims from the base, tech, Aspec, hybrid, and Adv are interchangeable. You just have to stick with the recommended tire size for each rim to keep the speedo accurate.

Acura added the Aspec model for the 19-20 MDX. The 19-20 MDX Adv included the electronic damper system with comfort/sport settings just like on the 17-20 MDX hybrid. The 18-20 MDX hybrid remained unchanged.

I honestly think the Pilot is a better buy right now. The infotainment system is much easier to use. The third row is more comfortable. The third row seats are also easier to fold with that simple strap that you pull and release. The MDX is using the same lever that the second gen Pilot had. Also the lack of a handsfree tailgate really makes the car seem cheap (especially since they added it to the Pilot).

Any MDX long term owners here to comment about reliability? I always loved this car but I was shocked to find out their reliability is around 2.5 out of 5 while the RDX is over 4.7.

Parents owned two MDX’s for 6+ years and never had to put one penny into maintenance. Only thing they ever had to buy were new tires. It was very reliable and just a good all around car. My parents switched to Range Rovers and have had so many maintenance issues that they want to go back to Acura.

I have mine for about almost 3 years now, and it still runs like new. I haven't have any complaint with the transmission like what most people claim. Even from time to time I will have passengers complimenting the ride quality on my MDX really. So for a 3 years old vehicle, that's pretty good.

Good to see Acura's tried and true 2012 infotainment system is still available for this updated 2019 MDX. At least Honda includes a volume knob. Seriously though, I'm surprised the MDX doesn't adopt a variation of the Pilot's latest infotainment system. Those drivers gauges are in need modernizing as well.

J High the MDX get a fully redesign once every 6 years or so. Sometimes you just got to save all the goodies for the next model. If you give the current refresh all the goodies, then there is really no point to release a redesign model that will pretty much have all the same stuff on it.

Yes, this is Acura's older system. Like Le Huynh stated, the MDX will likely get it when it gets a full redesign.

No, but Technology trims and higher will come with integrated navigation standard. It's also worth noting that Android Auto/Apple CarPlay are standard on ALL trims, however.

So my mom is looking at either the 2019 Acura RDX or this 2019 Acura MDX. With the 3rd row seats on the mdx my mom is probably going to be having them folded down most of the time but she will also probably be using it for like when my friends want to come along. The thing is that the Acura RDX feels so spacious in the 2nd row and the infotainment system is easier to use. So which one should my mom get? Nice review as always!

Thanks for the comment. Quite frankly, the new RDX is a much better vehicle from start to finish (not to mention its much cheaper price tag). If it were up to us, the RDX would be the way to go. That said, the MDX is still a good three-row offering just a little dated.

bm3do I don’t know much about the CX-9 but it is a great looking car you’ll probably save some money going that route. On the other hand the MDX is also great, if you get one you should get an A-Spec. Only thing is not everything offered in the advance package is in the A-Spec. But appearance wise the A-Spec is nicer looking and I like the red stitched interior. The MDX is very reliable and the SH-AWD is amazing. Not sure of the CX-9 reliability but if it’s pretty good just go for what will suit your day to day routine better. If it’s not urgent and you have time to wait I’d say for sure get the 2020 MDX that comes out next year after the redesign. It’s gonna be amazing.

I think AFCompany sums it up pretty well. The CX-9 is a fantastic car (and is even more luxurious than the MDX currently), but the MDX definitely has its pros. And like he said, the MDX is due for a redesign and it will most likely be done for the 2020 model year

Only the sh-awd vehicles get a donut spare tire kit. The front wheel drive and hybrid MDXs don't have a donut spare and you only get an air compressor with fix-a-flat goo. You can add a donut spare because the spare tire kit fits perfectly on the fwd/hybrid models. I even upgraded and put a full size spare instead of a donut spare.

I have the 2016 model, and both the second and third roll does not recline if I'm mistaken. It does recline very slightly on the second roll but not enough to where you'll really notice any difference.
