Hi Alex, thank you so much for ALL of your videos! I was stuck between the X3 and the RDX. In the end, I took your advice from this video - I bought an RDX Platinum Elite (AKA the Canadian version of the Advanced trim) and I had the dealer deliver it to me with snow tires so I could go out and buy myself a set of summer wheels and tires. I ended up with a set of sweeeet Enkei wheels that give the car a much sportier appearance (the Advance wheels are ... well ... I think they belong on a Toyota Sienna), as well as a weight loss of about 7 lbs per corner and some sweet Conti DWS06 rubber. As you suggested, it made for a great combination. And even including over C$3k for wheels and tires, it was STILL C$10k less than an loaded X3 30i mSport that I was shopping it against. I had been on the fence for a long time, so once again, a sincere thank you!

That’s what I would do too. Can I ask how much they charged you for the 20” rims? Did you have to buy new tires as well? And do they let you keep the original Advance rims?
@docseland6 жыл бұрын
Ronald Regan $3k for the rims and performance all season tires, which I believe are the same tires as the Aspec. I know people balk at this and you can sell your Advance rims and go online to Shop 20” aftermarket rims and tires, but I don’t have time for that. Plus when I saw the Black Advance RDX with the Acura 20” rims and tires, I knew I had found my car! Everything about this car is amazing and feels more futuristic, advanced and slightly roomier than the German competitors. Plus, the value competes with German SUVs costing around $65-70k! Bottom line is take one for a drive and see for yourself. Acura has a winner with the new RDX. And when the next upgrade to the engine comes around, look out!

Alex, I totally agree that they need an A-Spec with Advance Package. I have the same issue with the TLX. I love my 2015 TLX Advance SH-AWD, but I can't get the new TLX A-Spec with the features I want. I'm also not happy that you can't get the RDX without the panoramic moonroof or get it with laminated glass. I'm not comfortable with my child being in a car with a tempered glass panoramic moonroof. I hope Acura changes its packaging strategy or I may be faced to look elsewhere for my next car :( Thanks again for another great review.

Jeff Taylor CR has brought this up again recently. The tempered glass is 4mm where GM panoroof is 5mm. Unless something drops on it it should be fine.

Tempered glass indeed should be much stronger than sheet metal. That does not change however how I would prefer without the panoramic roof. Down here in Texas panoramic roof has little of use.
The black parts you mentioned look amazing with the APEX BLUE paint that's only available in the A-Spec trim That color combo is the main reason I like the A-spec trim! Especially since that specific blue is my favorite car color...

Lots of exaggerated remarks. As a previous owner of an mdx with s hawd and a mb GLK350 what makes a car fun to drive is how neutral the front to back dynamics of the vehicle are. Consider adding "steering feel" and "transmission" category to your reviews. There are a lot of decent cars out there that essentially fail in these two categories -- potential customers and auto manufacturers need to pay more attention to this. The last ILX and TLX I test drove had the worst steering feel I've ever experienced in my life (absolutely no feedback) -- and there were unacceptably long delays in jumping down multiple gears in their transmissions. And I know electric steering decently well -- I've owned 4 cars with electric power steering, and driven many more. Of course, they are all plagued with numbness, but relative to each other, some are considerably better than others.

Honda "recommends" regular fuel for the exact same engine in the Accord 2.0T. The difference? When they "recommend" premium they can advertise it as 272hp, whereas on regular they can only advertise it as 252hp. It's 100% the same engine.

Consumer Reports got 7.0s 0-60 mph and averaged 22 mpg for the 2019 RDX. It was slow through the Emergency Lane Change test at 52.5 mph, or 3 mph slower than Buick Envision 2.0T at 55.5 mph. SH-AWD...what?

Hey does anyone know how the 0-60 time of the 2019 4 cylinder compares to the 2018 V6? This is really important that I know this knowledge. If only some major media outlet had done this test and it was available for me to review. Oh gosh, whatever shall I do?
I had Mobil fuel, my A Spec did 0 to 60 in 5.7 secs . The new RDX without a doubt should be the fastest vehicle of Acura line up beside the NSX
@normt54636 жыл бұрын
The fastest data is C&D at 6.6s. They figure in atmosphere in and are usually the quickest. 7.2-7.4 in a video by Everyman Driver at 2,200 feet elevation.

I wonder how well the AWD on the 2019 Nissan Altima will be?.. (I know it doesn't compare to this RDX)
@normt54636 жыл бұрын
AugustRushDesigns Altima 2.0T will be quicker than Mazda 2.5t ht no AWD. The QX50 has already been tested to be faster than the Car & Driver 2019 RDX test of 6.6s.
@augustrushdesigns38906 жыл бұрын
Interesting.... I will probably get the new Altima after its mid-cycle refresh around 2022, but the reliability of the VC-turbo has yet to be proven (since it's so new). The addition of AWD was a smart move, the new Altima seems to be a well put together vehicle.

I like my new RDX, it's fast and the interior looks great but the decision makers at Acura should have at least give us 2 engines, the t 2.0 is nice engine but I think a t 3.0 eng as option would have been great. I tested my A spec 3 times 0 to 60 ,5.7 ,5.9 and 5.7.
@ryanlittleton56156 жыл бұрын
@@lloydybenoit6766 I agree the new RDX is a very nice car, what I meant is that the last few years of Acuras were just not really competitive with their rivals and not really worth the upgrade in some cases versus their Honda equivalents IMO. The new RDX (and NSX) finally changes that, and I'm actually quite excited about that and what they're going to do in the future.

RDX seats are way too short. Even the top-spec seats don't extend far enough for a normal height driver and the front edge of the seat steeply falls away leaving the thighs extra unsupported. Didn't even bother test-driving because it was so uncomfortable. QX50 seats are even worse with abhorrent headrests. Why can't Japanese designers sit in a German car and make normal seats?
@meugzy6 жыл бұрын
This acura is a really good car but not fast. Infiniti qx50 is faster according to motortrend. From motortrend At the test track, it was a bit of a toss-up. The 268-hp crossover recorded a 0-60 mph time of 6.6 seconds and a 15.1-second quarter mile at 91.6 mph. That's a good bit slower than the last 280-hp Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Sport we tested but slightly quicker than the 272-hp Acura RDXA-Spec.
@normt54636 жыл бұрын
Babs The Motor Trend 2019 RDX 2.0T faired even worse of all formal tests with a 7.1 0-60 mph time or one full second behind the RDX v6.That follows Consumer Reports 7.0s and Car & Driver 6.6s ranging from a half second slower or more behind the prior generation with 3 5l. Even the lower power Buick Envision 2.0T with less power and four less speeds accelerated quicker, stopped shorter, and handled MT handling test better than the RDX. "RDX's vague braking feel and response. Given that Acura equipped the RDX with "limousine" brakes, slowing down precisely was frustrating for many. Said Scott Evans: "Trying to make a stop sign is much harder than it needs to be." "Acura's wide net leads to confusion about what aiming to be. "It's torn between being luxurious and soft like a Lincoln, sporty like an Alfa, or techy like an Audi, and those things sorta cancel each other out...on winding roads in Sport+ mode, but we didn't feel the emotion we expected."

I traded my 2016 TLX SH-AWD (V6) for a 2019 RDX SH-AWD A-Spec. Although I haven't recorded the 0-60 time yet on RDX it feels quicker because of the new 10 speed transmission. The TLX was no slouch. I have a MINI Cooper S that reaches 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. This RDX feels quicker. I'd bet if I raced them both the RDX would win. There's no way the RDX takes 7 seconds to reach 60 mph.
