It's funny how shit 80s movies look so much better than shit 2000s/2010s movies. Something about the miniatures and the matte paintings and the practical effects - even if bad - just feels a lot more immersive than free After Effects shoved into the frame haphazardly.

I miss when films were shot in 'Bleak Italian-O Vision.' 2019 may have been a derivative mess, but many of the costumes and props looked cool. The miniature shots could have been really great if they'd only shot them at a higher film speed so the water didn't look like someone's tub.

I went through an Italian post-apocalyptic movie binge this past fall, and this movie was one of my favorites. The kitchen-sink approach made it incoherent, but engaging. Fun music trivia - whereas "Oliver Onions" did the (decent) soundtrack, the actress Anna Kanakis who played the baddie interrogator was married to Claudio Simonetti of Goblin at the time.

The weird thing is there was a chain of stores (No longer in business) in my country that sold home electronics and movies. This was one of the dvd's that caught my eye along some of those low budget italian creature flicks but it was so long ago and I was underaged so I could only wonder "wtf is this". I really miss going to stores like that and finding weird fucked up movies like this.

Most of these Italian post-apocalyptic movies borrow/steal a lot of the same elements, so there is often a lot of surface familiarity. WotLW had a lot of fun ideas but was let down by flat direction of flatter actors (Ginty, FFS...). 2019:AtFoNY is IMO far more entertaining on pretty much every level.

I watched a similar movie when i was a kid, it was about saving a woman carrying the last hope of humanity (a fetus in a jar if i remember correctly) in a post-apocalyptic world. And the hero turned out to be an android in the end (which he didn't know). Can somebody give me the name of that movie please ? i have been looking for it for years
