I’m 15 years old and I have a 1993 Forest River Rockwood Popup that my dad bought me and this summer will be the first summer I will camp in it. I’m so excited! It doesn’t need very much work and right now it is being fixed because the mechanism that lifts up the roof was completely busted. Other than that, on the corners of the roof are somewhat rotten and we are going to fix that. It may need some recaulking in places. I think it will overall be a good thing. I haven’t been inside because how would I when the crank to do the roof was busted. I know it has a sink and 3 beds and a custom audio system wired through it. I might come back to this comment and give anybody who reads this an update of how it is.

This is almost a perfect copy of the Leisure Travel murphy bed van. So many identical features; if there were copyrights on these things, Leisure Travel could sue. :-)
@thomasdarby60845 жыл бұрын
Beautiful. But I see nothing in this video that justifies the price-- a nearly-identical Murphy-bed model called Unity from Leisure Travel, which also has a video here, has equal or better features, and fully optioned out manages to cost $70,000 LESS than the starting price of the Airstream. And Airstream has a "counter extension" that doesn't come up level with the counter! Also, the seating below the Murphy bed is much more practical in the Unity, even converting into a dinette. Subjectively, I don't care for the polished cabinetry which, while probably high quality, looks like plastic; or the "Airstream look" aluminum that would not be a good sound insulator. Less value, more money.

LTV cannot put the bed down if slide is in, Atlas can, LTV must have the slide partially out, to lower the bed and it still hits the TV, Atlas is wider. LTV has far cheaper everything inside, Atlas is top notch, hell, the Faucet in the kitchen alone is $500, LTV pure junk faucets. LTV has 3 coats of paint (lame), Atlas has 15 coats of paint. Like comparing a chevy ( the LTV ), to a Rolls Royce. They both will get you there, just one gets you there much happier. LTV are pure junk and their customer service is one of the worst in the industry. Is it worth the extra money? Of course. LTV are just junk. Nice try though.

Not bad & I do like Airstream as an RV brand, but the Leisure Travel Vans 2019 Unity Murphy bed seems nicer & has a slightly longer mattress on it's Murphy bed. 74" x 68" & you can still walk around the end of the bed if the slid-out is extended. I am 74" tall so I need the longer bed.

At the beginning of the video (around .12 mark), the specs say the sleeping capacity is 2-3 people however, the presenter did not mention where the third person would sleep. Looks good.. Maybe in ten years.. I like the way airstream, maintains it's signature quality they've had since what the 60s? My old man has an ancient airstream, that used to be his dad's back in the day (my grandpa).. It's old very small in comparison to this pull behind.. It's covered with aluminum on the outside, and has a very 60s looking round almost space capsule shape to it.. About ten years ago my dad had someone refurbish the entire inside, so the original floor was all gutted, along with cabinets and countertops and trim, ect.. He actually had it looking pretty good for a very old airstream.. Unfortunately, he bought a new boat, nothing wrong with that, but he completely forgot about the airstream he just spent time and money on.. Ten years later, (or currently) that poor airstream needs to be gutted quite a bit all over again.. Ten years of neglect and leaving it parked outside in Minnesota winters for ten years in a row.. You're sure to get mice problems.. Hey just a frustrated son that loves his dad that's all.. Thanks for showing that airstream.. I'll definitely consider that option when it's time..

Gregory, thanks for watching and for the comment! @Erin-Thor6 жыл бұрын
Alvena Beach - Yes, they are insulated. Airstreams are rated at 22° F, ten degrees below freezing. They have tank heaters, ducts to keep the tanks n pipes kinda warm, etc. These are intended for short trips and those who go from RV park to RV Park. You can stay anywhere for a few nights, but off grid for anything longer... not a good idea. Ditto for seriously cold weather. There are videos here on KZbin of people that got caught in snow... the heat is not intended for much below freezing, and your pipes will freeze. Sorry.

Could you comment on the Mercedes-Benz restriction regarding the use of biodiesel? As I understand it, in at least a couple of the states in the United States, you would not be able to purchase diesel that would meet the M-B engine warranty requirements. Thanks
@campingworld6 жыл бұрын
Hi again Gregory! To my understanding, M-B fully accepts ULSD (Ultra low sulfur diesel) containing up to 5% biodiesel meaning that you should be able to refuel in all 50 states. They greatly restrict and advise against B20 blends (between 5%-20% biodiesel) but it will not void the warranty if you have no other choice. They do warn to watch oil level and engine performance if you must use a B20 blend and to use it very sparingly as it has a much higher chance of causing engine damage. Anything with a higher percentage of biodiesel or any "home brewed" biodiesel is absolutely not approved by M-B. Hopefully this answers your question and as always, thanks for watching! -Ian Baker
@georgek7196 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your response. However, I think it's a bit misleading. In states such as Minnesota, you cannot get biodiesel with anything less than 20%. So if you were to take your Mercedes-Benz RV to MN for any length of time, you would by necessity have to use 20% biodiesel. If you read the fine print in the Mercedes-Benz warranty (although it's a bit ambiguous), and you have a problem with the engine because of that, this will void the engine warranty. So, back to my original question. How does Atlas sell RVs in Minnesota (or other states with similar restrictions), assuming they make a full disclosure on this warranty exclusion?
@campingworld6 жыл бұрын
@@georgek719 My Airstream rep sent me a PDF file stating that M-B does recognize the Minnesota B20 mandate and will still warranty the chassis. It does state however that you can ONLY use M-B approved oil and filters and that you shouldn't idle the vehicle for more than 5 minutes. If you have further questions, feel free to call M-B at 1-800-FOR-MERCEDES (1-800-367-6372). Hopefully that clears things up and sorry for the confusion!

Very nice! I'll take it and make it work. Great that this manufacturer isn't using the gaudy striped exterior paint jobs that are done to death and so ugly. I see so much wasted space inside in the cabinetry format, unused corner spaces, etc., counting up at least 30 square feet that could have been utilized as additional cabinet space. Why are these not made with OPTIONAL oven, giant microwave, and enormous refrigerator? Not everyone plans to bake cakes, roast Christmas turkeys, or nuke big-dish casseroles in an RV (certainly not me), and more drawers/cabinets in that space would be beneficial. The awning is great, but where's a simple roll-up three-sided Velcro attachment that would turn that space into a livable additional exterior tent-type room? Such a small thing would double the living space when parked. Manufacturers, please start including a built-in safe, built-in 5-gallon bottled water dispenser, built-in surge protector, built-in vacuum, and a tiny wood-burning stove.

Camping World .. Absolutely beautiful coach! I have been following you for sometime. Your probably familiar with TEDTalks .. Notice how they give speeches.I have to do some public speaking and presentations in real-estate. Talk about a tough crowd.. lol.. I got my start with Toastmasters.. look them up and see if theirs a group some where locally for you.
