I owned a 2015 fully loaded Midwest Weekender that I sold when I moved to Asia. I'm back living part time in the USA and need a rig to live in. I've done a lot of research on Class B's and I honestly think this Airstream has the best combination of quality and features of anything I've seen.

If I was in the market for something like this, the lack of battery system that can run the a/c would be the deal breaker. A Volta type system should be included. If I went this route I'd want to be able to boondock and have a/c if needed.

The generator runs the AC, and the new Onan is very quiet. There is more room for a larger inverter and more batteries.

Agree 100% on the AC, don’t want to manage fuel for a generator when going off grid, want to save that for going further. Also the long wheel base is not great for off-road, and would have a terrible departure angle with that overhang in the rear. Nice RV but not for me.

These features on the basecamp would be nice. Fold down window covers, netting instead of plexiglass, hanging strips, maxx air, fixed faucet with multi use sink cover, aluminum bars for bed setup where applicable, rhino spray on front / sides…a real adventure….

Airstream needs to remove the sink from the wet bath, it wouldn’t be so cramped. Other than that for the price it should have more of a lithium system. Shouldn’t have to use the generator to run the AC.

Another excellent presentation with vast knowledge of Airstream vehicles. Two things that concerned me, Velcro and the Macerator hose. Velcro we all know does not last long or simply not stick tightly. The macerator hose has a very small diameter that has me wondering if will clog up when draining the tanks? Would like to see demonstrations on how to tie down mountain bike while driving the camper. Many thanks for this video.

Your demonstration was terrific as usual . I’m just not sure who the demographic is for on this ? Young twenty somethings cannot afford this price tag, older folks are mostly out of the question as they’ve moved up to comfort living and space . That dump hose is comical at best , the table for two ? , ya if you’re each having a granola bar . Tire size is two small for a van that’s being labeled as this off road wonder . What I do like is the freezer compartment , storage is great, windows 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻, size of bed and still using as twins if so desired .

My wife and I are in the 20 and 30 something digital nomad / adventure vehicle demographic and I'd say this is mostly accurate, though the price isn't really a concern for our population due to 2 high income, work from anywhere, flexible jobs and no kids. The big problem though with this RV is most of the people who we know who are in this group, ourselves included, are not interested in generators or propane. Lithium is the future and any RV that doesn't make that a priority is doomed imo. This RV has *some* lithium but it appears to be a very weak system. We are picking up a 2022 Travato KL later this month which can run 100% without issue on lithium only. It has induction cooking so no need for propane there. We don't go anywhere super cold so we don't need a lot of heat and military showers are handled just fine with electric heating elements.

You will never get enough solar panels on the roof to keep all those batteries charged. How bout a week or two of cloudy days? Oh we will just drive and the alternator on our fossil fuel engine will charge them, or we will plug into shore power that get power from a fossil fuel electric plant charge them lol. You may be able to run an a/c for a couple of hours. Lithium is great for low draw applications, fossil fuels is still king. Almost everything you use has something from from oil, including those lithium batteries and the process to make them.

Good question! It is 11" on this one and the generator has a heavy metal plate on the bottom. The Mercedes Sprinter rear diff is lower.

Thanks for the great video. We currently have a BC 20X that we love and are thinking of getting a 24X and may or may not keep the BC as well. We are realistic about how off-road able a Sprinter really is (at least one with comforts) and don’t think the 19’ has enough room for us. My question is whether you have any sort of comparison that can directly show the differences between a 24X and a 24GT. The 24GT with 4X4 seems to offer more comforts without giving up much realistic off-road ability. We like to stay away from campsites with hook-ups, but most “off-roading” is really rutted dirt and gravel roads. Trying to figure out whether a 24GT would be enough or if the 24X would really provide significantly more capability and exactly what comforts we’d be giving up. Any thoughts or links would be appreciated.

Looking for something like this, but this one fails in 2 areas for me. Not enough battery capacity, and too small of an inverter. You have 400W of solar, yet a small battery set and inverter. Nope, also, would prefer an electric cooking system as an option.

It has heated tanks and it also has a diesel furnace. It can be used in cold weather.

Overall very nice. Surprising that the genset is LP not diesel, with an induction plate instead of burners. And the solar/battery system has no option to expand. The front door vent gizmos are "where have you been all my life?!"

It would be nice if a generator was made that would fit under the Sprinter chassis. Airstream uses the Onan diesel generator on the Atlas since it is a cut away chassis.

A lot to like about this rig, but the fact that you have to be plugged into to shore power to run the Max Air fan and the use of gas for the cook-top make this less desirable. Great review
