Two books by athletes shaped my life. Ball Four by Jim Bouton and Out of Their League by Dave Meggyesy. They outlined the life of an athlete in major league baseball and football and how athletes were taken advantage of my owners, general managers, or coaches. I gravitated towards non-team sports and enjoyed sports and life, probably something I wouldn't have if I had stayed with football. Sad to see that Jim Bouton is gone but he lived a great life.
@snowblind90655 жыл бұрын
gotta agree Ball four is the best and probably the most eye opening read dealing with professional sports.there was another book that actually got made into a movie up here in canada called "net Worth"It is about the NHL players set in the late 40, and early fifties trying to form a union to get a fair shake from the greedy and corrupt owners...it is quite the movie, showing how evil the owners and the NHL were back then..if can fine it I highly recommend it

Don Larsen died on January 1st, 2020. He was the only man to pitch a perfect game in the playoffs/World Series. He pitched this perfect game in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series, and won the WS MVP that year. He made it to one more WS, then retired in 1967. He mostly played with the Yankees, but he also played a bit with the Giants and the Orioles. He died of esophageal cancer in Hayden, Idaho. He was 90 years of age when he died.

According to a press release, Benson, 36, was riding his BMW motorcycle at a high rate of speed in the left lane of FM 2222 in west Austin when he collided with a 2014 Dodge van at 10:20 p.m. Saturday. The driver of the van told police the van was stopped at the intersection of Mount Bonnell Road and FM 2222. The road has a lot of blind turns and hills. The driver of the van checked for oncoming traffic and attempted to make a left turn when the van crashed with Benson’s motorcycle, police said. www.ksat.com/news/new-details-released-in-motorcycle-crash-death-of-texas-longhorns-cedric-benson-female-victim-idd
