Driven both extensively, own a 2019 M5. Here's the breakdown, if you drive a lot or this is your daily, the standard M5 is likely a better fit. The comp can get rough over extended distances, these are 2 completely different feeling cars. If you want more power, get a chip or a tune and you'll be well over 700hp. Awesome car, sleeper.

Very interesting. I own a 2019 F90 too and I test drove both - I didn't think the comp pack was much different to the standard car so I got a standard car with the sports exhaust as that was the only thing that stood out to me - slightly firmer ride on the comp M5 but not night and day different like the M4/M4comp - strange how different folk interpret things! Certainly nothing in it in terms of straight line performance thats for sure.

thesoldier depends on your age if you are older then the insurance isn’t too bad and the services aren’t mega expensive so it’s just fuel and tyres I’d say you’d need £8000 a year for running costs if you drive 15000 miles a year

Standard m5 is definitely the way to go. Stiffer suspension are so pointless in a car that is already quite stiff. This car need to be daily driveable (on normal/broken road). This is not a track car.

I was going to buy a 2019 M5...until i drove the M5 and M5comp back to back. Tighter and more responsive handling on the comp. I expected this. Acceleration was noticeably quicker with the comp. This suprised me. I now own a 2019 M5comp.

Given the listed stats that doesn’t make sense. It’s only 0.1 sec faster 0-60, you would never be able to tell. It may “feel” quicker because of the stiffer suspension and lowered ride height, and if that does it for you then enjoy the car. I’m still looking for my next car-this is a contender for sure.

The engine is mounted on springs to reduce vibration and decrease cabin noise. The comp has stiffer mounts so more of the vibrations/movements will be felt by the driver. In return, stiffer springs makes for a bit sharper throttle response and a more direct connection with the car. Is very subtle.

Basically you will get m5, does this m5 competition does that. In basic terms. Think of it as a nissan gtr. Then pay extra 10,000-20,000 for the nissan gtr “nismo”. So in other terms, if you are ocd, and have alot of money to burn. Get the m competition. Otherwise m5 is perfect.

If you believe the M5 CP only has 625hp you're not a car guy. Standard M5s dyno at well over 600hp, some claim as high as 670hp. Most dyno between 630-650hp. The CP will be more like a real world 670 to 680hp.
