@AAJAA5 Modern diesels aren't known for reliability, thanks to emissions regulations that strangle the engines. By adding more turbos, you're just making things more complicated and less reliable. But hey, we'll do whatever it takes to comply with regulations, even if it means to screw over the customers in the long run.

wowow 4 turbo is overkill. I daily drove a very reliable 2.5 litre 2kd hilux with few mods, single turbo, tuned around 360hp 700nm. Tried twin turbo it for 600hp 1300nm but it was super undrivable. My point is 4 turbos are unnecessary but interesting!! I wonder if I can quad-turbo mine

It use new engine, B57 and same engine block with B58. Quad turbo from standard means the internal should strong enough but peripheral component mostly fail that making trouble. Water pump, sensors, vanos break and etc

This vehicle has essentially the same times with the BMW 330i to whatever measurements you guys do, yet you state that this car has a max accel of 1G but the 330i has a max accel of 0.76G. If i`d have to guess, i'd say your GPS tool is a bit off (ofc, not always, but definetely sometimes). As for the time itself, it`s not that impressive, in a vacuum. The BMW X3 30d, for example, does 0-100 in 5.6s and the 1/4 mile in 14s. Not to mention that i re-watched your video with the 2018 BMW X3 30d and you say there that it`s max accel is 1.09G :-)

This engine is also massively down tuned because of the up and coming X5m with a twin turbo v8. This engine if capable of making 384 Kw’s and 865 Nm minimum

Thanks for your comment. We'll try and answer for you. We use a Racelogic Vbox Sport - Racelogic are renowned in the auto industry for data-logging equipment. G-force and acceleration are quite different things. We've tested cars in the past that produce quick 0-100km/h but low g-force due to linear power and torque delivery. In this case it's the huge torque, AWD grip and massive weight that translates to big g-force. The peak rating would have registered immediately, as the X7 got off the line. The 330i is more linear, RWD and much lighter in weight, and it accelerates progressively off the line - no sudden heave. We have been considering removing the g-force element of the video simply because it can be quite variable. We're not sure what to show instead though? Hope this helps.

@@PDriveTV Thanks for the lengthy response and for taking the time to explain this. Appreciate it! Now, first of all, i don't quite understand how g-force and acceleration are different things. 1G is just a notation that puts a number on an acceleration process. Besides, g-force was not a part of the discussion. The value of the maximum acceleration was. You could express 1G as 9.81 m/s2 and then there wouldn't be any G's involved. Now, if we were to talk about G-forces, i think this has much more to do with the subjective sensation you get while accelerating the car (the 'push' against the seat). The problem is that the GPS device can't 'feel' any of this. It doesn't know that the car weighs X tonnes or that it has xxx Nm of torque. The GPS just records how fast the object is moving through space. There are simple physics formulas to determine acceleration (instantaneous or avg). Now, as I am a big car/acceleration/drag racing fan, I'm familiar with the Racelogic company, as i have a PerformanceBox myself. I also know that the vbox sport should be a bit more accurate, as it uses 20 Hz vs the PB's 10 Hz. Do you use any software that Racelogic provides to do post-test analysis? Can you provide the 0-100 times broken down into small intervals (say every 5 km/h)? Lastly, from my very limited experience with accelerating diesel SUVs, i noticed when doing post-test analysis with the VBOX Test Suite that maximum acceleration occurs at a speed of 12-20 km/h and not right off the starting line (but i might be wrong about this, because as i said, my sample size is so small). Can you break down this concept of 'engine torque' in simple terms? And here's something else to think about. Modern turbo gasoline engines provide 70-80% of the torque that a diesel engine with similar displacement can provide, BUT starting lower in the revs and having a much wider rev range at max torque (3 - 4.000 rpm vs diesel 500-800 rpm).
