just a tip: add some water to your paint till you get a whipping cream consistency. straight from the tube is wasteful, and difficult to work with. you can also add more water and use gouache like watercolor ✌✨
@JennyJournals5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tip!! Yes unfortunately I didn't learn about this until after the fact (thought it was supposed to be more like acrylic than using it like watercolor) but now I know for next time :) Probably used wayy more paint than I needed to!

@@AmyNorthLight, Thats what I love about gauche. It can be used to meet your style. Transparent or vibrant. I see it as a good middle ground between acrylic and watercolor
@signewallin1365 жыл бұрын
I just finished a project for school where we tried out gouache for the first time. What we learnt: Easiest way to use is whit a little bit of water to mix it out and make it easier to work with. You don't have to use all the paint in one go, if it dries and you whish to use it, say a week later, just soften it up with water. Although it will turn into something that very alike watercolors. Gouache isn't as shiny as watercolor, it's this matte coat when it's dried. The colors change just a little when dried. They turn either lighter och darker, can't remember which one though. But they're really fun to illustrate and play around with.
@JennyJournals5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing these tips!! This is super helpful. I'm hoping I can take all of the tips I've learned about gouache since this painting and play around with it some more :)

She calls it an embossing tool, but I think it looks like a general purpose heat gun (usually I've seen them used for electronics work). Basically it's a concentrated hair dryer where it gets air really hot around the end, which is what melts the embossing powder.

Some quick gouache tips, it’s actually fairly similar to watercolor on contents and use. The reason it was so thick was because it’s meant to be watered down, sorta like watercolor. It also won’t mess with your nice watercolor brushes, because it’s essentially water color with a higher pigment to binder ratio and possibly chalk added for a matte finish.

When painting with Gouache, add water to the paint on your pallete. It'll make the paint less thick and opaque, and basically make them more like watercolors. Firstly, it looks nice and is easier to work with, and secondly, your paint will last longer because you don't have to slather heaps of paint on your paper to cover a larger space.
