I just purchased the titanium trim of this vehicle and I love it, more room than you think, the 2.0L i4 AWD has decent power(its not a mustang, but more than serviceable) . These auto reviewers all have the same problem, they drive so many cars, like high end brands, they can't compartmentalize their reviews to a single class of vehicles. For the deals you can get on this (I got my at $19132) you simply can not go wrong with this little SUV.

Somebody decided to run into my parked 2016 F150 totaling it. I needed a car quickly, so I got the 2018 EcoSport. I was mildly surprised with this little SUV. It did make me think of a roller skate compared to the F150. But, this little car with the 2.0 engine is quite peppy. The highest mpg I have gotten is 34 and lowest 24. To me it has plenty of room for my 200lbs and 6’1” shape. The seats are comfortable, not luxury comfortable, and is not expected to be. I constantly drive between San Antonio TX and Corpus Christi the speed limit 75 mph; this little car maintains that easily. I like the side opening rear door, I do not have to worry about bumping my head. It is well equipped, the only thing it does not have is the navigation system, which I was told was about $1700. That is okay, just use my smart phone and google maps! It is much easier to park that the F150 was, but again to be expected. The reviewer in the video already seemed as if she had a biased opinion when she started the review. If I would have had the time to do more shopping around, I think I would have still gotten the EcoSport.

This is a Brazilian baby. The Ford EcoSport was invented in here back in 2003 and it was responsible of opening a segment on our market of small SUVs and crossovers. Since then, the EcoSport became a very popular and reliable vehicle on the Brazilian market. It's curious that Ford of USA chose the Indian assembly line to build the vehicle for them, since they have an fully loaded assembly line right here, that serves the entire latin american market as well. And no, Mexico has no involvement with the EcoSport whatsoever
@bommareddybrijendrareddy93014 жыл бұрын
Indian Assembly line builds to the same standards too as far as I know. And to the best of my knowledge, India is the centre hub for Asia and Europe for distribution of exports, so just like a lot of other brands, for Ford making it there is a viable and wise option with vendors being reasonable in costs.

When i first heard that Ford was discontinuing its passenger cars starting 2020, Two things stood out. 1) This isn't just a Ford issue. Ford is a big part of it, but there is more of an underlying issue. It's more of a segment issue. Passenger cars (i.e. sedans) sales have been going downhill for years. (Some of them falling faster than others) Crossovers, Trucks, and SUV'S are the hot sellers.(Especially the subcompact SUV/CUV segment) They are the ones that are making the most money. They are ones that are selling the most. Even the top sellers like the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Honda Civic and few other top selling sedans have slipped through the years. The difference is the other automakers will not discontinue the passenger cars. (Not yet at least) if you think Ford's car sales are bad, Chrysler is WORSE!! Chrysler only has three passenger cars left. (Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and the sports car Dodge Challenger) That's it. This has been going on at Chrysler for a couple of years. With that being said, Ford isn't blameless either. Ford has neglected its passenger cars to concentrate on their trucks, SUV, and Crossover markets. Ford's passenger cars are in badly need of a redesign. (Especially the Focus) How bad do you think Ford sales for its sedans if it is discontinuing the whole segment. If this can happen to auto makers like Ford and Chrysler, It can happen to the other auto makers.

Try 21.5k usd equivalent in php for the top of the line Titanium here in the Philippines. For that much you won't even be able to buy the base variants of HRV and CX 3. Kona and Trax only offer one variant here and they're both more expensive. I fully understand the condescending tone of this review because this was done in the US. And this unit won't sit well, pun intended, with the American market. One thing that those 4 competitors I mentioned have in common - they feel like oversized hatches; drive like sedan with their low ground clearances. We wanted an undersized suv (read: not as pricey but drives like one) with high ground clearance which is what this model is all about for us. The nearest competitor here is a Subaru xv (dunno what you call them there, crosstek is it?) With 220mm ground clearance. But that one costs 28k usd equivalent. Had Ford here priced it like so (or like there) Subaru would have been a no brainer. But not those 4.

First, let me say I'm not a Ford guy. In my youth, I was a Chevy guy. Later in life, I became a Honda guy. I'm not saying this review is full of lies, it is not. However, most of her complaints are very subjective. Yes, you will not win many races from a stoplight. If that is what you want, why in the hell would you buy a sub compact SUV. I have had cars with plenty of horsepowers, but guess what, I didn't need it. Other than getting a thrill now then, it was worthless, in cost, insurance premiums, gas mileage, and getting a ticket for no good reason. Even with average power, this car is fun to drive. I have owned everything from a 67 GTO, Camaro, to Honda Preludes and Accords. I loved all those cars but none of them did I like as quickly as I did this one. Maybe I'm getting old, but this car is perfect for me. Perhaps the best advice I can give....test drive the dam thing. It's a very solid feeling car with absolutely no squeaks or rattles.

Lyn, thanks for the video about the Eco Sport... Fords move away from cars, was a smart move and good fit for them, as their highest volume sales are Trucks and SUVs... so it only made sense for them to walk away from the car market.... What this means however is there is no longer a econobox in their lineup to boost their overall CAFE ratings. However it also means they don't need to compete in the CAFE requirements for cars... Light Truck CAFE is hovering at 18 mpg average, where the average for cars is 28.4 mpg .. The ecoboost Mustangs are in the 31 and the GT in the 25 highway range so they are solid if that winds up being the only car ford builds. The Eco Sport was no doubt constructed to replace small cars, and its fuel economy easily allows Ford to meet the light truck CAFE across the board.... Most people don't consider the regulatory end of the spectrum when reviewing vehicles, they only determine whats acceptable from a purely consumer perspective... However with more and more government intervention (TOO much) and the Socialists wanting only electric vehicles, the use of regulatory bodies to move Vehicle manufacturers toward those ends has become extreme... That is a primary reason Ford walked away from the car business as will many other manufacturers in the future..... As for electric cars ... anyone in their right mind should be aware that humans and high voltage (electromagnetic radiation) .... are a toxic cocktail...

I drive 4,000 miles a month for work and I’m 6’4” @ 260 lbs (yeah, I’m a pretty big dude) and the seat comfort is totally fine and very much adjustable, even for my SE model (and YES, there is a lumbar adjustment, KBB. Unfortunate that they missed that.). Plus, with careful driving, I get well over 33 mpg combined. The rear swing gate isn’t a problem at all! They barely show it before they hastily cut away, but the rear swing gate has a mid-way hydraulic stop which still gives you full access to the back of the car. With all the cities and towns that I travel in and around, I’ve yet to come across any issue with opening it. As a matter of fact, the small size of the car enables me to fully open the swing gate almost every time! And, I LOVE the side-opening swing gate, especially as a tall guy! One thing I will say - the only drawback I have so far is the power. I have the inline 3 cylinder turbo, and while it’s feisty and I can still pass with mostly relative ease, if I really want to get on the gas for an emergency, the power’s just not there. I believe it’s mostly due to throttle response and gearing; both seem haphazard and somewhat lazy. But hey, dat TOW CAPACITY doe! And come ON, for 20 grand brand NEW?? Gotta say, I LOVE this thing!

Seems like bullying to slam this poor excuse for a cute ute too much. Obviously, Ford had invested nothing in designing for this emerging market segment and simply looked around for something they could use as a placeholder until they can design a proper Fiesta replacement. Its peculiarities suggest that in non-North American markets it may fill some niches that don't exist here. For example, the cargo space, though smaller than its competition, is tall and square. As such the car can be used for light commercial purposes in urban environments in Asia and South America. Yes, its base engine is ridiculously under-powered, but in environments where going over 30 mph on a backroad is potentially hazardous, that may not matter so much. And though the larger engine is also low on performance and not very efficient, it has been around a while and is probably relatively simple to maintain. All in all, the review gets it right. If you must have a Ford product, the local dealer will be happy to take your money and will probably give you a decent discount in appreciation for your patronage.

Shane Nelson ya, and its fuel economy still sucks too. This is going to be a failure quick I think. Just get the bigger and much better Escape

Depends on the vehicle. I wouldn't want one of these, but the new Fiesta ST with the 1.5 3cylinder with 197hp/210lb-ft looks lovely (well I prefer the old backend, but that's not my point).

@@twistedinnocence8617 lol how does the fuel economy suck on the EcoSport lol my gf just bought one sure my Cruze RS Diesel hatch back gets over double the gas mileage with a 1.4 turbo diesel but I guess Ford could add a hybrid system to the 3 cylinder EcoSport not only for more power but a longer driving range and better fuel economy. It hasn't been in America that long if they make the 3 cylinder a hybrid I probably will get it but I do love my gf's EcoSport though it's comfortable to drive tbh but that's my opinion though

My last ford went 160,000 miles without issue and that is when the manual clutch was replaced, cant ask for more than that. Although afterwards I did trade it for a Honda, just the be sure.

I just got a used 2019 and it already has issues with the display screen. Fortunately it's still under a bumper to bumper warranty and will be repaired for free. I just hope I can get a good 10 years out of this car before I trade it in.

The version of Ecosport which is sold in India and Brazil has an extra spare tyre attached to the boot door. That may be why it opens sideways.Can't get why the American version doesn't have the characteristic extra tyre though.
@gregoryleo46402 жыл бұрын
A spare tire on the back door would block the rear view camera, which is now required by law in the USA. I heard that 1 trim level only in 2018 in the USA had an option for a spare tire attached to the rear swing door.

I drove one for some long-distance trekking as a rental too and I really liked it overall, but the balance of power and fuel economy is definitely not there. It feels like a hamster under the hood and simultaneously gets poor fuel economy. For perspective, but Mom has a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, which is the same size class and price. It's noticeably wider, has very decent power with its optional 2.4L 4cyl, and manages the same, if not slightly better, economy on the highway. Low 30s at interstate speed. Mid to high 30s at 55mph. I think the small Ecoboost engine has to work too hard and the economy suffers as a result.

I'd rather have a Ford station wagon over this thing, but it's too bad that Americans are too superficial to buy wagons, stuffing themselves in tiny tin cans like the EcoSport instead to maintain their image, part of America's age-old image problem.

I'm looking for a car with easy enter access. Living in the UK these days where a full size SUV, while getting popular here, isn't the smart choice considering the size of the roads and parking. If they made a few tweaks to this car it's something I would look at. Volkswagen is coming out with a T-Cross this Spring (UK) I think might fit the requirements for me. I test drove a Honda Jazz (I used to own one and liked it) that is getting a new engine as well (and the HR-V).....although that engine has had some issues on the CR-V.

I have a 2018 2.0 4 wheel drive an I really like it an don’t know why everyone knocks it. It drives good I have no problem getting onto an interstate or keeping up with traffic, as far as gas mileage it’s not bad ( I don’t really look at those EPA estimates) as they are only estimates . I like the door opens sideways makes it easier to load an you don’t hit your head on the hatch. I have enough options on it, I have the sync 3, sun roof , heated seats an steering wheel, auto headlights, power driver seat, remote start pretty much what I need. Ford kinda screwed up on marking it, there was very little in the way of things to dress it up, I have 17 in wheels an 205 50 / 17 tires, but with 4lug wheels which makes it hard to change wheels to aftermarket. I would like to go to a little more aggressive tires since it’s 4 wheel drive. An the biggest disappointment is they did not put or make an option to put the 2.0 Ec o Boost 2.0 in it that in my opinion was a mistake. But it is what it is an I can live with that. One more thing I think It looks just as good or better than the other vehicles she mentioned.
