Thanks for making a trike video without bashing them. Rode 2 wheels for 40 years, went to 3 wheels due to equilibrium problems. Thanks to Harley for continuing to improve the trike.

I started on 2's and moved to trikes in 2015 because my wife had a bad hip and couldn't take being on 2's. I bought a 2019 in September and LOVE it! 6k miles on her and counting. Smooth as silk ride out to Los Angeles from Dallas in October! The TC was useful while riding in the heavy rains going into turns!!! And the engine change from a 103 to a 114...ABOUT TIME HD!!! PERFECT FOR THE FLHTCUTG!!

Trikes are the T bucket of motorcycles. And they are great to have. But more importantly they help those that may not want, or can ride on two wheels and that's awesome.

John, I rode an HD Trike (after a Road Glide and Breakout) at an HD demo event just for grits ‘n shiggles, and to answer given curiosities... I’m hooked! This thing was so damn pleasurable and cornered like a slot car. As a rider who enjoys extreme weather riding day or night, should I ever be in a position to buy a full tourer, I’ll probably get one of these. To the naysayers: just try it first. I’m so happy HD is addressing the clutch engagement thing. I own an ‘05 with cable clutch and hydraulic was my biggest disappointment at that same event. Keep on keepin’ on... hope to make my second ride a 3-wheeler one day!

Got my wife a 2012 Tr Glide, put 35000 miles on it in 2 years, traded it on a 2016 Tri Glide, she's put 10000 mike on it this year. She Love her Tri Glides (traded her 94 Fatboy after her knee replacement), Love the colors on that one, and the 114...WOW, our 103 has a stage 2 and Vance and Hines Twin slash. Great Video

I'm glad you brought up the difference in turning a trike vs. 2-wheel.. In four months I'll begin my 51st year on two wheels. When I lose the faculty of balance and/or too stiff/old to get on/off, I'll quit.. If I tried to ride a trike I'd be dead within one mile....'cause I'd "lean" into the turn, go the opposite direction and end up as a truck's hood ornament.. Great video - as always..

I took the '19 trike for a demo ride at the Barber's Vintage Festival in Birmingham, Alabama last October. After having to watch a 10-minute video on the trike systems and being given a pep talk by the factory demo guys, I was curious about all the fuss of riding a trike. After I pulled away to do my parking lot familiarization ride, I COULDN'T KEEP MY FEET UP! After 40 years of two-wheelers, my muscle memory insisted on putting my foot down at stops. During the entire ride, I had to keep reminding myself to keep my feet on the footboards. Riding a trike is a completely different experience. John's right about taking one for a test ride before buying one.

I ride an '05 Road Glide I had converted to a trike because my whole lower back is destroyed... Would love to get a new one, but I am now so spoiled by the frame mounted faring I didn't even want to try the new Tri-Glide. The reason I went with building one tho was because the former Lehmann rear end was so stiff and not independent suspension, but with this new one being independent, that warrants at least a test ride!!! I purchased the 2017 while deployed and love it. I have added a lot to it to make it mine. The Demo ride help and even thou I had a trike I was to watch a video but lucky for me the DVD broke LOL so I had a small demo in the parking lot to prove I knew how to. This is a great video to show what you could. I loved the radio and suspension and wished they would have redesigned the trunk. So I added shock and lift kit the trike rocks plus the recluse clutch and mMD reverse. Electric motor on them are not good. Thanks again

John Maxwell A clip on various options for the clutch lever would be fantastic. Travel distance for the friction zone is an issue for many. So many owners have that issue, we would certainly appreciate knowing the options available to us. May they be a change of lever or an internal clutch component replacement. Thanks, great videos.

a mechanic tried to find adustable clutch / brake for me and said they fit everything BUT a trike [sighs]. My hands are shorter than most men's but i had to get used to the travel being so far out. A semi auto clutch w/paddle was going to run me 2k plus labor [screw that]. Maybe the 2019 levers can go on a 2018? Still looking for a resolution.

Been riding since 9yrs old, I'm 63 now. Bought a 17' Tri Glide 2 yrs ago because I'm into the touring bikes and they keep getting heavier every year. Rented a trike for 3 days and put 600 miles on it. Took it back to the dealers and bought one. Last year a deer ran out in front of me. I was doing about 50mpg. Didn't T-bone it but just clipped the lower part of it's rear leg with the front tire. Big thump through the forks. Both of us survived. Not sure that a two wheeler would have stayed up. Lovin the Tri Glide.

John, what do you think about the linked brake system? I’m working on an ‘18 115 anniversary trike at our dealership out in the Pacific Northwest for one of our Vietnam Vets. His old trike we liked up the front & rear master cylinders since he can only use the front brake. The newer set ups have changed the thread pitch on the master cylinders not allowing us to do the same set up. I’m planning on tapping into the link somewhere to get the same effect. Short story long, what do think about how much percentage the front brake is linking up with the rear?
@TheHarleyTech
@TheHarleyTech 6 жыл бұрын
I use both brakes when stopping, so I didn’t notice it. The only time I’ve ever noticed it on the touring models is when there is a big wheel and the front brake lever pushes out. The system thinks that there is an issue because the large front wheel messes with the sensors.

All joking aside, I rode a 2016 (or there about, it was a 103) trike for a 300 mile ride in Texas. That one lacked enough low end torque for the weight. Fun to try for a day. Always thought that an electric motor in the trunk would add a lot to it off the line. Plus, it should be able to lay a pair of black lines (is it a limited slip?).

Excellent video! I couldn't deal with that tinted windshield. It obscures too much road. Two wheeled motorcyclists are always telling us how much upper body strength trikes (Harley and BRP Spyder) takes, but I didn't find it objectionable at all. Perhaps if I rode one all day for a long day... At first I thought I'd want a Harley Trike, and got my 3 wheeled MSF endorsement. Turns out I prefer the way a BRP Spyder rides better. They are strange looking - but fun. That Harley is $38K? YIKES. That's $11K more than the last new car I bought!

Any recommendations on how to get a gas cap off a 07 Fatboy Softtail? Gas cap keeps spinning and it doesn't use a key.

I like the Trike. It's in my future. I'm 58 now but have had hip and back issues for years now. I just wish they would put a hand brake on them. That pedal hanging down bugs me!

i have a 2018 tri glide ultra; it has a hand brake for the front; a foot brake for the rear, and a parking brake. None get in my way.

My old 63 trike had a ratchet on the front brake lever so you could set the front brake. It had old drum brake on it but would hold it.

Do you know a Mitch Mottern? Back in the early 90s we did MMI together then he was going to Chattahoochee Harley. His old lady, Glenda, Mitch, and me and mine used to party some as we lived across from each other in some apartments. Just curious. Be safe, have fun.

Does it have the same turning circle as the ultra limited?
@markmaese1599
@markmaese1599 2 жыл бұрын
I would say the trikes turning circle is greater than the Limited's because when you lean the two wheeled bike into the turn, you reduce the turning circle.

I really like your camera placement - a lot less wind noise when you are speaking. And it's a great camera angle (perspective.) I've never ridden a trike (per se) but have driven a couple of side car rigs - 1 on a Gold Wing and the other on a HD with manual shift (lever.) I suspect these new bikes are great to drive - not ride! And it's been years since I was last on a 2-wheeler (late 1980's.) Thanks for sharing :)

its a shame that they down graded the front brakes from a 6 to 4 piston, on a trike i want all the braking power i can get.. they are priced a little high at 36k though

Tried to trade for one, local HD dealer offered me 8000 for my 2015 FLHTP police with 2300 miles on it (which I bot new) that ain't happenin so I found a 2014 Tri Glide with 34K for 15800 which runs out great AND I still have my 2 wheeler, 19s are nice but well over 40K OTD with taxes and fees? I can def live with my 14 which looks pretty much the same for 25K less. And keep my still like new police unit. Nothin wrong with a well tuned 103 either.

@@danschramm1397 just a quick reply from 5 yr trike rider. The dealership where I test rode one, formerly known as Ray Price in Raleigh NC (now called Tobacco Road HD), the instructor that made us take the test prior to the demo screamed at me the 1 time I did put my feet down. I actually rode up on my heel a little bit, and never put my feet down after that... (Fred Marshall)
