John, I rode an HD Trike (after a Road Glide and Breakout) at an HD demo event just for grits ‘n shiggles, and to answer given curiosities... I’m hooked! This thing was so damn pleasurable and cornered like a slot car. As a rider who enjoys extreme weather riding day or night, should I ever be in a position to buy a full tourer, I’ll probably get one of these. To the naysayers: just try it first. I’m so happy HD is addressing the clutch engagement thing. I own an ‘05 with cable clutch and hydraulic was my biggest disappointment at that same event. Keep on keepin’ on... hope to make my second ride a 3-wheeler one day!

When I lose the faculty of balance and/or too stiff/old to get on/off, I'll quit.. If I tried to ride a trike I'd be dead within one mile....'cause I'd "lean" into the turn, go the opposite direction and end up as a truck's hood ornament.. Great video - as always..

I took the '19 trike for a demo ride at the Barber's Vintage Festival in Birmingham, Alabama last October. After having to watch a 10-minute video on the trike systems and being given a pep talk by the factory demo guys, I was curious about all the fuss of riding a trike. After I pulled away to do my parking lot familiarization ride, I COULDN'T KEEP MY FEET UP! After 40 years of two-wheelers, my muscle memory insisted on putting my foot down at stops. During the entire ride, I had to keep reminding myself to keep my feet on the footboards. Riding a trike is a completely different experience. John's right about taking one for a test ride before buying one.

Didn't T-bone it but just clipped the lower part of it's rear leg with the front tire. Big thump through the forks. Both of us survived. Not sure that a two wheeler would have stayed up. John, what do you think about the linked brake system? I’m working on an ‘18 115 anniversary trike at our dealership out in the Pacific Northwest for one of our Vietnam Vets. His old trike we liked up the front & rear master cylinders since he can only use the front brake. The newer set ups have changed the thread pitch on the master cylinders not allowing us to do the same set up. I’m planning on tapping into the link somewhere to get the same effect. Short story long, what do think about how much percentage the front brake is linking up with the rear?
@TheHarleyTech6 жыл бұрын
I use both brakes when stopping, so I didn’t notice it. The only time I’ve ever noticed it on the touring models is when there is a big wheel and the front brake lever pushes out. The system thinks that there is an issue because the large front wheel messes with the sensors.

Tried to trade for one, local HD dealer offered me 8000 for my 2015 FLHTP police with 2300 miles on it (which I bot new) that ain't happenin so I found a 2014 Tri Glide with 34K for 15800 which runs out great AND I still have my 2 wheeler, 19s are nice but well over 40K OTD with taxes and fees? I can def live with my 14 which looks pretty much the same for 25K less. And keep my still like new police unit. Nothin wrong with a well tuned 103 either.

Really like your ride and reviews. Reminds me of Shawn Smoaks, master mech at Pro Caliber Motorsports. You, Shawn, Ryan Urlacher, Shadetree...and a few others are my favorites. Forgot how many bike posts I watch:)

@@danschramm1397 just a quick reply from 5 yr trike rider. The dealership where I test rode one, formerly known as Ray Price in Raleigh NC (now called Tobacco Road HD), the instructor that made us take the test prior to the demo screamed at me the 1 time I did put my feet down. I actually rode up on my heel a little bit, and never put my feet down after that... (Fred Marshall)
