Nice job! Did the same install on mine before it even hit the water. I used a dremel with a circular cutter attachment guide. Also dropped the rudder and that made the cable slack down. Then I made sure the cutting bit depth was set about a 1/32" below the plastic. Came out perfect! It already paid off for easy access when I installed my anchor trolley. Another tip: save the plastic coupon and the shavings. You can always use it to fix holes and gouges.

Next time you are up in Virginia Beach get some real Marine grade stainless screws from West Marine. Those stainless screws from Lowes aren't very good stainless. Mine rusted up after about a year and I had to grind/drill them out. What a pain in the butt.

Well I feel bad since I've gone Outback now... The Pro Angler was nice but I honestly never gave any other kayak a chance. The CBBT the best place to launch is chics beach. Right now maybe some straggler Sheepshead and Reds. Oceans East is the nearest tackle shop and they rock!

Anyone happen to know if this kit is still available? I ordered online but the hatch kit I received didn't come with the split support ring. It came with a solid one piece support ring. Also the hatch I ordered also came with 6 screw holes and not 8.

If you try hard enough yes, but I think the drainage channels molded in may be the biggest problem with that

Really no definitive answer there. It all depends on the person using it. I have had both and for me the Outback better fits my fishing needs. The light weight of the Outback is the biggest benefit for me because I do a lot of beach launches.
