Don't forget to ask your dealer about the HAtch Gasket for the 2019 Front Hatch Gasket. Will help Seal the front hatch completely.

Nice....one of the biggest things is having a good set of wheels on these big fishing yaks. Those look great.
@TomyTekOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. These wheels will make life easy for me. I got tired of removing stuff and tip my kayak. Now I just have to swing the wheels down and pull my kayak out of the water.

Hi tomy! Awesome video. I’ve seen that there’s so many different models on their website. Would all of them fit into my Pro angler 2020? I found one on Craigslist but I’m not sure if it will fit into mine. Thanks !

The PA is pretty wide. I would be concerned about the center pipe being long enough if it's a used set. I didn't put Landing Gear on my PA because of the horror stories I heard about the hulls cracking. The new Landing Gear is different from the older ones like the one in this video. They do sell a specific set for PA 2015-Current, but it looks like it is on backorder. Here's a link to it boonedoxusa.com/collections/landing-gear/products/groovy-landing-gear-hobie-2015-current. You can always call Boonedox and ask them if the one from Craigslist would work. They have pretty good customer service. Thanks for watching.

TomyTek Outdoors gotcha thank you so much for the info. Now may I ask, did you put the boonedox on that outback because of hearing problems with the scupper holes cracking ? That’s what I’ve heard and was planning on putting those Boone dox on mine. It has the regular cart wheels but I’m afraid of this cracks
@TomyTekOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
I got the 2019 Outback as soon as it came out and Landing Gear shortly after. The scupper cracking issue wasn't known just yet. You can add tennis balls to the cart to act as shock absorbers. I really need to do that. I'll probably make a video about it. I will say that Boonedox Landing Gear is pretty awesome. I'm just concerned using it with the weight of the PA and the added weight of my gear. I'll wait at least a year to decide if I'm going to add landing gear to my PA. The bungee cart hack works pretty good for me right now. I'll do an update video on that and show using it a launch site.

Thanks. I really appreciate that. It's been a slow and steady race. You are in luck. I'm actually going crabbing tomorrow. This will be my last crabbing trip of the year. It might be a bust because of the rain and cold, but there's only one way to find out.

Nice video. I just watched Southern Reels Outdoors just before yours. You guys tend to compliment each other's installation videos. What I would really like to see is how to mount the wheel axles at the shoreline (on land). Or are you limited to in water installation of the wheel assemblies. I plan to do it at the surf, so an in water installation will be tough with breaking waves. I need a system that I do not need to unload a fully loaded kayak, just to install the wheel assemblies. Thanks, and looking forward to the next video.

Thanks for the kind words. I haven't surf launched yet. I have put them on by tipping my kayak enough to slide in one side and then the other side goes in easy. This is with nothing in my kayak. A friend of mine has them on his PA and surf launches a lot. I can ask him and let you know. I'll try putting the wheels on with it loaded in a future video. Thanks for watching.

Subscribed! I have a 2021 outback and want to install this landing gear. Have you had any issues with the kayak cracking?
@TomyTekOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support. I have had no issues with cracking. The mounting is different on the new Landing Gear. I did get the new landing gear for my PA. I'll be working on the installation video soon. You should also check out Southern Reels Fishing videos. He has an update video on his Landing Gear experience. He fishes way more than I do and in the salt primarily.

Nice clear video! Question, it looks like you have to install a rear hatch in order to do this install?
@TomyTekOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I installed the rear hatch before I thought about getting landing gear. I initially installed it thinking I would need to run cables for my Bixpy Jet. It was definitely helpful when I installed my landing gear. You should be able to do it through the front hatch if you use the cable trick with the backing rod. It might be a little tricky with the foam inside. Just make sure you have a good knot so it doesn't come undone.

TomyTek Outdoors thank you!! Lots to think about for sure; I’m picking up my first Hobie next week & there’s so much to think about 😀
@TomyTekOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
@@TheFishingMommy Awesome. Congrats! Which one are you getting? There is another mounting option for the 2019 Outback. It's a little more tricky, but fits better to reduce the chance of cracking the hull. I also have a video showing how to install the rear hatch. It's not hard to do. You just have to be award of the rudder line, so you don't cut it. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. I'm glad to help.

TomyTek Outdoors thank you!! I’m getting a 2019 Outback & I’m so excited. I think I’m going to have the dealer install the hatch if I decide to do it...I don’t trust myself with a jigsaw and an expensive boat. I’m brave but inexperienced with power tools & that’s a bad combination. LOL
@TomyTekOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
@@TheFishingMommy Congrats! I'm excited for you. You're gonna love it. You should ask your dealer if they will install it for free. When I bought mine, they would install accessories for free. I just had to pay for the part. I couldn't wait to get it on the water, so I did everything myself. I don't blame you. It's scary drilling or cutting into your kayak. I check multiple times before I drill or cut into my kayak. I've done it quite few times and it still scares me 😬😁

Just wondering if you were still pleased with the landing gear?? Would you consider install on the PA?? Anyway, stay safe and have a good day.
@TomyTekOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
I do like landing gear on my Outback. I'm not too sure I'll put them on my Pro Angler. The old brackets on my Outback are metal and are solid. They changed the material for the brackets on the new landing gear. I've heard a few people complain about them breaking. I'm a little reluctant to put them on my PA because of what I spend on it. I'll wait another season to see how people like them. The bungee mod on the Hobie cart works, so I'll use that for now. I'll try my c-tug cart on it as well. Thanks for watching.

Do they still sell this item? Can't find this same one on the boonedox site. Looks a bit different than the one you have

They updated their landing gear. The 2019 Outback was still pretty new when I got my landing gear. There is even a different way to install it. If you call them, they should be able to help you get the right kit. I spoke to them directly before I bought mine.

The wheels are supposed to be on the two outer holes according to Tim at Boonedox. The inner hole is for having the sand wheels. My concern is with the kayak fully rigged how much weight is pivoting on those backing plates. And does the nose weight get heavy while pulling it. My Slayer Propel 10 felt like it weighed 3 times heavier because the fulcrum point was so bar back. I also have seen Hobies that cracked from the weight on just that small backing plate.
@TomyTekOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up about the holes. I have Sandtrax wheels as well, which are thicker. My kayak is pretty heavy fully rigged. I am quite concerned with weight on the backing plates as well. I'll be keeping a close eye on them. It can be heavy pulling it on steep ramps, but that would be the same case with the cart wheels as well. Having the appropriate wheels for the type of surface would be important. I'm planning to make a video showing the different wheels. It seems to be warm on the days I can't go out. Spring can't get here quick enough. A friend of mine has Landing Gear on his Slayer and has been happy with them. After seeing how easily he got in and out of the water is what made me want to buy them. Time will tell if I will get any cracking on my hull. I'll definitely keep you guys posted as I get a full year of use out of them.

Tommy, I also have a red 2019 outback with the Boonedox landing gear with the beach trax tires. Can you do a video of how you move the wheels under the kayak coming out of the water and on the kayak when launching? Do you rotate them in the water or before you launch/after you beach? Those beach trax tires float and in the water rotation is tuff for me. Hoping someone has a technique that works.
@TomyTekOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Sure. I'll make a video showing that. I don't have the beach trax tires. I have the standard wheels and the Railblaza Sandtrakz wheels. Both of them sink into the water, so I'm able to rotate them in the water with no problem. I just have to make sure I'm in water deep enough. They are also easy to rotate when launching.

Could you attach out riggers or a trot line hook to that bracket Check this out my friend Betty who I fish with pretty often caught a snake head in Joppa town that’s Harford county
@TomyTekOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
I would probably be possible, but I wouldn't want to put additional stress on the brackets, since they are screwed into the hull. My PVC propstick still fits in the rod holders behind it. It's crazy how far north they are. I know they are catching them in the Susquehanna now. Betty would be the one to catch one. She seems to out fish you every time in your videos 😆
