Looks neat. You can tie bigger bag or basket into rack to increase capacity and remove them for show run.

I think I would've kept both washer sets on the bike on either side of the rack arms, or failing that, do what you did but fit the smaller washers onto the top bolts to minimize paint scuff from the spinning bolts that hold the top part through your yellow frame holes.. I love that colour style year on monkey!.. the best.. new ones dont look as good..

I’m really not sure mate, could be give or it take an M10, I’d have to pull them out to measure. You should really get back to the seller and get some send out and they are a specific length as well.

G'day Car Craft, Love the vid, thank you (so professional!) and I just bought a 2022 Monkey - one of the very last in Oz. I love the OEM rack here and checked out the beez deals site to buy one. It mentions that they have the last of the OEM Honda racks anywhere but they have them because Honda RECALLED them. I can't find anywhere an explanation of this - do you have any idea what's wromg with the racks that Honda would recall them?

Honda recalled them because apparently the stated load capacity was over rated, so they shouldn’t hold as much as Honda claimed - I can’t remember the specific rating. If you’re not intending on carrying anything heavy (like me) on it I think you’ll be fine, I have mind for over two years now without issue, but if you do want to load it up then you’d be best served getting an aftermarket one 🙂

Apparently it’s because people were using them to “carry pillions” and hence bent/damaged the frame so Honda stopped supplying them because of these idiots?! They are available in the UK ATM (2024) to buy.

@@Vazza72 Thanks for the reply Vazza, much appreciated. This is an old post and since then I bought a ManInTheBox rack for Chimpster. It is quite robust, heavier than OEM and a bit bigger. If a non-biking person had to double a pillion on a monkey I can 'sort of' understand how they'd think the rack was OK to sit on but, yeah, anyone that knew even a little better would indeed have to be some special kind of idiot. So I’m an idiot and over tightened my left side upper rear suspension stud....and stripped a good couple cms because I didn’t have a wrench that I could adjust the fpt.......now I don’t have enough stud to contain both the left suspension and the rack....anybody know what to do? I called my dealership and they said the stud is fused with the actual frame because honda decided to make it this way and now.....I’m screwed....HELPPPPP

Honda has discontinued it, I believe it was because it’s weight rating was wrong - but can’t remember what it was, not much though
