Thanks for the detailed video. It really helps to understand different type of fluids. I also have 2019 Pilot. I got my rear differential and transmission fluid changed by honda dealer at 30k miles. Today i went for normal oil change at 35k miles and they called and said there is some leaks in transfer case and they need to replace some O ring and seal with pinon and it will cost around $750, not sure if they are talking about the intake or outlet valve of transfer case from where we change the transfer assembly fluid. I think that is the only way oil can leak and not sure if it takes $750 to do that. Below is the description that they gave “replace front transfer case with O -ring and seal with pinon” Could you please let me me know what this means? Thanks and appreciate your help.

I would recommend asking for more detail. Is it the transfer case output shaft seal replacement? Once you have more detail you could get competitive quotes over the telephone. Also, you could ask since that’s part of the powertrain, if it is covered by the five year/ 60,000 mile drivetrain warranty? You would have to know your manufacturer date to know if you’re within the five years.

Great video! At the 20:14 mark, there appears to be a oil leak in the transfer case area? If so, how did you repair the leak? I have 2016 with a similar issue. TIA.

Thank you. I watched the video and I see what you mean about residue collecting underneath. I do not have any leaks and I park in our garage in the same spot so I definitely would know if I had any fluid leaks. Sometimes what you see is residue from previous service jobs or other things, but I don’t have any active leaks. If you have a leak the easiest thing to do would be to change the crush washers and torque them down properly. Other than that I am not sure. There are some other bolts in that area and maybe they could be tightened.

Great video! Could you please advise why did you put 3.5 qts when the manual says 3.3 qts for 6-speed?

My previous experience showed me that it takes 3.5 quarts for my vehicle. You can always add the 3.3 quarts and then check the level after the transmission fluid is hot to see if you need to add more.

What's the size on the oil crush washer? FYI, looks like you're in a warmer climate so Valvoline full synthetic 0w-20 has a better add package than the Mobile One. Mobile one does have a better cold flow rate though.

I think that it doesn’t matter if it is Valvoline or Mobil1 unless is the correct density 0W-20
