It's a complicated issue. I work in live productions. shooting 1080p prores is a different animal compared to 720p. transmitting from all the cars and cameras that aren't wired is the other issue. It would be cool but high quality 720p looks better than low quality 1080p, to me at least.

I don't get how the prototype challenge series has a bigger field than the DPI class.

DPI class is manufacturer based and requires more funding than the single-make Prototype Challenge series.

How do these races run? sometimes theres GTD and GTLM with the prototypes all in one race Sometimes its separate

This is lmp3 it's a separate series

You're talking about the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, there you see The prototypes (DPi and LMP2) with the GTLM (GTE) and the GTD (GT3) cars together. This is support series with LMP3 cars only. There's also the Michelin Pilot Challenge with GS (GT4) and TCR cars, for me the best series of the IMSA because of the good head to head racing.
