Seeing these bikes ridden so well in 1080 or HD! Dual rear shocks, dry clutches, sliding the rear, 1:36-1:37 lap times. Great job men! People with 1980's sport bikes should cherish these gems and maybe get them to vintages races. Best racing video I've seen in ages. I would love to see this series grow.

Great to see our USA boys out there putting up a fight. But also, I have always loved watching and listening to Steve Martin commentate a race, and it's absoutly AWESOME to see the old fella 😉 out there in the fight as well. Great job fellas. And thanks for the upload. Loving this!!!!

When the US first came out they thought it was for hits & giggles....then realised it was for sheep stations!!!🤣It’s one of the best events on the calendar “Down Under”. Honestly guys jump on a plane if possible & come out!!! You’ll love it as we do! The American riders had a ball & were bloody great to have out here along with all riders from O/S!!! The best part is you get to walk around the pits, the garages, talk to these legends, get autographs ,get photos & feel a part of the whole weekend!👍🏼😎

Listening to Steve Martin explaining the difference of the 40 + years between the Katana's, he missed the main point. i am a child of the 80's motorcycles and it was awesome. You rode these bikes on the seat of your pants. Parts scraping going through bends, handle bar shakes, wobbles in corners and carburetor lag. These all made riding a 80's motorcycle exciting and awesome. With all the tech on today's bikes, launch control, controlled roll on and so we can go on, I think, makes riding boring. So who out there is with me.

I went there on the Sunday, was a great meeting. My first race meeting back since I gave up road racing in the 1980's it was great to see lots of bikes like I used to race.
@gm16v1495 жыл бұрын
Same here, went there on the Sunday. Perfect day, and it’s not too crowded, so you can ride around the perimeter and go into the pits, all without the massive crowds of the MotoGP. Don’t forget this weekend is World Superbikes down there.
@AuMechanic5 жыл бұрын
@@gm16v149 Yes the good thing about the classic races was freedom to drive or ride around and get good spectator spots as well as free pit access. I did a vid and got some goods pics too in the pits. I'm looking at going Sunday for the super bikes too.

Reminds me of the Transatlantic Challenge Match Races held in Britain in the 70's and 80's. It was held at 3 circuits over Easter Weekend (Brands Hatch on Good Friday, Oulton Park on Easter Saturday and Mallory Park on Easter Monday, although it would later be raced at Donington in the later years). The top American and British riders of the day raced in it over 9 races over the 3 events so it was like a who's who of the day. Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson, Kevin Schwantz, Barry Sheene, Steve Parrish, John Newbold, Mick Grant to name a few all raced in it. Sadly all attempts to revive it have failed but loved going and watching them race and all the support races that went with it.

I don't understand why motorcycle racing isn't more popular in North America. This is 100 times more exciting to watch than NASCAR ever could be, seriously! That said, this era of bikes are way better to watch than today's fully sensored self driving MOTO GP bike. I'd love to see some of todays superstars get on a 1978 TZ 750 where a 1/4 throttle is either a pass or it powerbands you into the fuckin rhubarb bush : )
