Winter driving tip, when the fast DC charger tapers down, turn on the vehicle heat to maximum. The charger will warm the car while still adding the maximum amount of remaining power to the battery. The car will carry the warmth for a while and everyone will be happy. Do the same in high temperature days with the air conditioner.

What a great review! Really helpful and (lacking what is sadly prevalent in many reviews: swearing/OMGs/anger etc) professional. Little did Jason know that this was not just the first, but last - for now - electric Jag.

really great video! It captures all the range anxiety of a first time driver. Good to see that you adapted so quickly. Consider the low temperature the range is actually pretty impressive! Similar EVs would have lost more than 50% of their rated range easily.

Driving without heat? Silly to not use the heat, the heat pump is very efficient or use the heated seats on low. You could have pre-heated the car at IKEA and you aren't in ECO mode.
@zaphodsbluecar95185 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you just use the seat heaters sooner..? They use far less power.

This is the main reason why I went with a Tesla - access to the Tesla superchargers. 20 mins gets me from 30% to 80%. Plus use at least the heated seats, it drains very little battery compared to the actual heater.

For as much as I love Tesla, Jaguar, e-Tron, or EV's in general, I think I will pass. If I have to drive without heat in the heart of Winter I may as well stick with my gas car. At least I know I will be warm and comfortable driving, than to be worried about my range or something basic as staying warm. Thanks for the video. I appreciate your honesty.

Depends where you live. I live in the city. With regen chances are I won't run into problems. As he pointed out dead of winter and long range driving are not the ideal setting for an EV. But as he showed you can still take a day trip and get home. Now if you live in a small town and do nothing but highway driving and there's little traffic. Ok maybe an EV is not for you. My work trips are 40 km per day. So 200 KM range would be enough for me for a week. If you are in stop and go traffic, the regen helps boost your range.

Nothing against electric vehicles,but until they make charging stations widely available,I think it’s premature to consider owning one.

O boy. People that dont own jaguar I pace are funny))))))I use mine to fullest and never had issues with range excietty. Its quality of the car . Performance so much better than any tesla I had and I had 3 of them

Great video! For future reference, I would at least use the heated seats and steering wheel as they don’t have too much impact on range. I understand why you were cautious though. Looks like Canada’s EV infrastructure has a way to go. I’m sure it will get there though.

For the family, we found that a combination of 1 EV (BMW i3) and 1 ICE vehicle to be perfect (BMW X4). Want to cheap put on gas? Use the EV. Want to take the kids skiing? Use the ICE vehicle.

Great looking Jaguar, but looks much better on the 22” rims

There are no 22'' winter tyres available for the jag (only 18, 19 and 20)

I still cannot understand why you need to drive in your car like you are on Everest. The proper test should be at a cabin temperature of 22 degrees like every old-school vehicle can do. Especially if you plan to go for a half day of driving.

Stupid that you didn't use the builtin NAV and PlugShare to plan your route and the charging stops.

And of course this loss of range does not happen in piston engined cars? Oh it does? So why no videos on the effect on gas cars??
@ybergik4 жыл бұрын
The range loss for regular cars is more like 10%, which is far from the 50% one can expect with an EV. That's why this is very important as it comes as a huge surprise to first time EV-buyers.

EVs for now are more suitable for urban environment or as a second vehicle, at least in Canada. Nobody would or should drive a EV that long range and battery level below 20%
@stevenbarrett76485 жыл бұрын
What’s the point ? It’s got less range than a Renault Zoe runaround !. If I kept chickens it would make a good, posh hutch !.......Maybe in its home town in Austria low range isn’t an issue but it looks like a motorway motor not a city car, just a waste, shame.

What a Joke...No Heat in the middle of the winter!!! Don't waste your money on an total EV vehicle if you drive in a Northern Canadian climate.

Using Jaguar brand for 18+ years and this is my horrible review with the I-PACE. I've had a horrible experience with Jaguar's I-Pace. I had the vehicle for a year, and have only been able to drive it for approximately 2k miles. It has had issues with battery, software malfunction, charging system, and even when you would try to start the car it would make noises. Its a shame that Jaguar has tainted its brand with such a problematic car. If you want to be walking to places instead of driving, BUY a Jaguar I-PACE.

I have Jaguar ipace 2022. It's a piece of garbage. I named it death trap. In 6 months I escaped death 4 times. Jaguar is not concerned about it. Service is zero level. If we have cars and dealer like jaguar. Trust me jaguar will not be in business in near future. Beware this car stops abruptly in the middle of nowhere 🤔. Jaguar says they're is no problem. Seriously.
