I know this is a joke, but Windows PCs are far from cheap nowadays. If you want something that is similar to MacBooks, you have to pay even more. Surface Laptops and XPS seem to be the only two who can actually match MacBook in terms of build quality and so on and both of them are more expensive than MBP. So go for Mac if you want it! Windows has become expensive too...

I currently have the current 2019 Macbook Pro and I have to say I love it. My older Macbook pro was a Mid-2012 edition. I upgraded that model with a new SSD, Battery, and RAM. It still works to this day, but I gave that model to my mother. I haven't noticed any issues with my keyboard as of yet fingers crossed.

One aspect of these machines that a review like this often overlooks: Most folks will opt for a larger SSD. (500 GB to 1 TB) Given this, it would be informative to see how much a larger SSD costs for each model.

I was going to go with the Air due to the battery life. It made sense to me that the processor is weaker then it would use less energy. I am a light user using adobe reader, chrome and TeX so I didn't need that strong of a processor. BUT someone posted a video (I forgot who) running a battery test on both the Air and Pro and the Pro beat the Air by roughly 2 hours. That sold me on the fact that the Pro is far better choice for an extra $200. I am hoping it will last longer than the Air in general in terms of life. I have a Pro from 2011 (which still works great but it's heavy to carry around) so it's time for an upgrade.

Agreed, I have the Base model without he touchbar and was originally planning to trade in for the New one along with student discount etc, but I changed my plan to getting the 4X thunderbolt 3 Port MacBook Pro after seeing myself in a position limited to just 2 ports. 4 ports will be more convenient at least for me despite the higher price

Battery life is hard to gauge, these guys say the Air gets better battery while other laptop reviews say the Pro gets better battery life. Love both designs but battery life is my biggest complaint when i use a laptop so the search continues.

Playdust compared to my 2012; It’s lighter, faster, has touchbar (useful for me) and has a better display. So overall I don’t regret it at all! The 15inch one is really nice as well, but for me the base model budget was my only option lmboo.

1:40 I disagree with you. Try windows laptop in the same price bracket and you find them all having a well designed hinge. Kindly limit your comparison to the same price devices. BTW a very well detailed comparison. Excellent quality.

I'm a university student looking to buy a macbook that will last me a long time. I want something that is fast and doesn't slow down. I do school work and presentations. I currently don't do any photo editing, but I'm thinking of future-proofing myself just in case. Which should I get? Should I go for the Air since thats enough for my current needs, or the Pro for future proofing, faster, and more reliability?

If you have the money then go for the pro, it’s better to future proof yourself than have regrets further down the line. The air is a good buy if your needs won’t change but if you have doubts go for the pro.
