Its that feeling, that you think you are breaking the speed limit, when your only doing 40mph. That's what makes driving my MX so special. The 1.5L engine has plenty of punch, so why pay extra for the 2.0L when its not really needed. Also, it has to be the full roof down experience, and even though the RF looks the business, it weighs more.

The engines flexibility comes from the power plants high compression ratio. What they have done with the 2.0 is copied the engine changes they made on the original ND 1.5 which the car was designed for. more power is always a good selling point but for me it also adds weight. Which when you think the idea of the alloy body panels sling back ski jump seating , shaved bell housing and even drilled door glass was the whole point, adding another 100 lbs which the 2.0 engine and steering column adjuster does, its a bit of a backward step IMHO. If you get the RF it adds yet another 100 lbs and puts the car back to its predecessors weight something the handling department were not overly keen on. what ever one you have though they are without doubt the most successful roadster of all time and the most fun

Lee B definitely worth it from a power-to-weight perspective

Just traded in my 2004 NB facelift for a TT 45 Quatro. It's not the same experience but it's just as enjoyable and more so in winter. I will miss the MX-5 and it's a shame I couldn't quite justify a Cayman which would have been the natural step up.

They need a hi performance version...220 horse or more it would sell like crazy

Love the car, but your take on the suspension is way off. It's far too soft in stock setup. It's great as a daily driver without asking much out of it, but once you get aggressive the body roll is far too excessive. I still love the car, but it needs an aftermarket suspension IMO.

Which trim? Many say the Club gear isn't worth the uptick in price ; ie the Brembo brakes etc.
@johntechwriter5 жыл бұрын
I agree, the Club is overpriced. Does the car really need Brembo brakes, or are they mostly bling? Same with the Bilsteins. The standard Sport model, which I own, has such high limits as it is, the Club kit is redundant for street driving. I’m not convinced it would be meaningfully faster on the track, either.
@mackan70865 жыл бұрын
@@johntechwriter I would say the bilsteins are way better, also the Recarro seats are so much better
@mexkdspEd444 жыл бұрын
Bilsteins are a noticeable upgrade in my opinion, but for me the club is worth the cost simply for the LSD. That's a must have for a proper RWD sports car if you ask me.

Mx5 is mid engine not front engine.
@robluck213 жыл бұрын
They should have made it bigger, and make a model with a back seat,so it would be practical and not just a toy with no glove box or spare tire. this quest to eliminate any remnant of utility or practicality is ultimately destructive to sales.

Better own an MX-5 than to not own a 911.
@tonyandrews79564 жыл бұрын
Why put labels on what someone chooses to drive. 911 can be labeled as old man mid life crisis car trying too hard to look cool. Mx-5 is more I don’t care what others think I want to enjoy real driving without being flashy.
@tonyandrews79564 жыл бұрын
That being said. I love a 911’s and all Porsche products 😂 best sports cars out there. I was just making a point. Don’t label a car.
