This is the rental car number 129 and today I'm driving the 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SE.
There's more details below, but I just wanted to quickly say ~thank you~ for watching my video. Please comment below and share your thoughts. Or just take a second and say 'Hey'. I'd love to hear from you. Cheers!

THE BASICS:
Year: 2019
Make: Mitsubishi
Model: Eclipse Cross
Trim: SE
Type: compact crossover SUV that seats 5
MSRP: $28,265
HISTORY:
+ This is a brand new vehicle for Mitsubishi. They started making the Eclipse Cross in 2018 so this only the second year it's available.
Wheels:
+ 18" aluminum alloy wheels. Bridgestone tires.
UNDER THE HOOD:
+ Engine: 1.5L Direct-Injection Turbo Engine with "Super" All-Wheel Control S-AWC.
+ Transmission: CVT (continuously variable transmission) or you could call it a shiftless transmission, single-speed transmission, I think you get the idea. No gears to shift through.
+ Horsepower: 152 hp @ 5,500 rps
+ Towing capacity: 1,500 lbs
+ MPG City: 25
+ MPG Highway: 26
+ Combined MPG: 25
+ Fuel Tank Capacity: 15.8 gallsons
+ Cost for a full tank: Takes regular unleaded gas. Gas by me is $3.12/gallon. 3.12 x 15.8 = $49.30
HANDLING:
Solid. Comfortable at high speeds and easy to park in tight spaces. No issues.
ACCELERATION:
Okay in normal mode, very slow in eco mode, and not fun to drives. I think the best way to summarize my experience would be..."ehh".
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I enjoyed driving the Eclipse Cross, but only because it's new. Frankly, it doesn't compare to something like the Ford Edge. But I'm happy to see that Mitsubishi is trying something new and I'm curious to see how to Eclipse Cross grows in the years to come. I think it has a lot of potential, but right now, in its current form, it's just not very exciting.

I still find it difficult to be honest/critical of a vehicle, but keep the overall tone of a review positive. I hope I accomplished that with this review, because I genuinely like the Eclipse Cross, I just don't think it's met it's potential yet. Anyway, thanks for checking out my review. Hope your day is going well. ✌

I think that the problem it’s that doesn’t feel as a completely new product. And I convince that it is because some switches and controls thats looks and feels old. And the driving position for taller drivers its too high. But I like it anyway. Nice review!

Words of caution. Mitsubishi is partially owned by Nissan, and utilizes the horrendous NISSAN-JATCO continuously variable transmission. The JATCO CVT is known for breaking the bands in the CVT and transmission overheating troubles. It is not a very durable transmission, and it's known for premature failures... ⚠

its jatco yes but mitsubishi has their own design, mitsubishi transmissions dont fail like the new nissan cvt transmissions. Jatco only mass produces the transmission.

@100RentalCars --- Ya gotta work on describing handling. Can't just say it has "good" handling or is easy to park, etc. That doesn't tell the audience anything. Is the steering light or heavy? Is there play in the steering at low speed/high speed? How is the steering ratio?

Did you mean to say Ford Escape? The Edge is a fair amount larger and higher priced than this (starting at $30k). No arguing that the Edge is a nicer vehicle but how would this compare to the Escape?

Your lucky you got a SE and not and ES. They are a mix of SEs and Es’s on rental lots. When I flew into STL a few weeks ago National had a ton of these on the Emerald aisle and most had less then 100 miles on it. I didn’t want to drive an Mitsubishi all the way to Chicago so I ended up picking a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited with only 90 miles on it. The Cherokee was slow but it was a super nice car.

I'm impressed you got to choose. By me, rentals are hard to come by since it's college move out season. Then again, I actually specifically asked for this one since I'd never driven it before. Anyway, glad to hear you got a Cherokee. That's a long from from STL to Chicago and I think driving the Eclipse all that way would have been uncomfortable.

Thanks for the shout out man, I really appreciate it. And as someone who does videos on YT every now and then I know just how much work it is to edit these videos so you definitely deserve something for all the time you put in for our entertainment. As for the car, it seems like there's a lot of cheapish looking plastic on the interior. Not a big fan of that, but I definitely like the hard cover over the SOS button. I think all vehicles should have some form of physical lockout of that button to ensure no accidental presses. Great video as always.

nice review, mitsubishi should have gone with a safer design for the back, while it does not look bad, its not for everyone. a redesign of the back should be their main focus right now. they also need to include rear air vents, all the competition has it, even toyota. this will be competing with the mazda cx5, and crv. the cross looks like it has some potential though but everyone is pre occupied with the back of it to take it seriously.
@warcrabcyber9908

@Paul Apostoli well actually i am not from the US , but i do enjoy mitsubishi cars, but it would be nice if mitsubishi listens to their customers more often. there are car reviewer that would tell you get the kia instead, but the car reviewers are the worst judge of reliability and longevity in a car. they always get cars shiny new when everything works properly and mislead customers. after 3 - 4 years is when cars like kia starts giving problems , such as failing engines. they cant work properly in third world countries with low quality gas. mitsubishi and toyota accounts for all of this in their vehicles. however i would like to see mitsubishi get better as a brand, and this starts by listening to customers. as ridiculous as the request may be sometimes. things like rear ac vents is the new standard in cars. mitsubihsi needs to observe trends in the market and respond quicker to new trends. that is their main downfall other than that their cars are solid

Eco mode on many vehicles (mine included) retards the throttle response. You’re better off only using that on the highway when you have the cruise on....it will slowly bring your car up to speed (I have adaptive cruise) rather than drop two or three gears to catch up to the traffic ahead of you. I would never use it in normal driving. It’s borderline dangerous

I've never driven either of them so I can't say how "horrible" the Outlander Sport is, but I don't know where the "tiny" part comes from? Check out the dimensions on the Mitsubishi website and you'll see that the 2 cars are built on the same 105" wheelbase platform and though the Eclipse is about 1.5" inches longer overall, in every other dimension, both inside and out, the Outlander Sport is equal to or larger than the Eclipse. All the performance numbers I've seen on the Sport are comparable to the Eclipse too (actually the 2.4 liter Sport seems to be a little faster).
