Hello, I believe it uses a CVT gearbox

Their is no gearbox in the traditional sense. The engine is connected to a 70kw electrical generator which can be used to charge the batteries or create electricity to run the motors (series hybrid). At higher speeds and loads the engine is clutched to the wheels directly to assist the motors. There is no CVT with belts etc, the CVT is achieved by varying the load imposed on the engine via the electricity generator

@@callumcurtis15 i don't think it's similar to the Prius, the Prius uses a planetary gear set to couple the wheels engine and electric motor. The outlander has no mechanical link to the rear axle, simply high current electrical wire, the front axle is selectively coupled with a direct link clutch that is designed for speeds greater than about 45mph like top gear in a manual transmission
