@JB_WhoWork2 жыл бұрын
Personally if you do a lot of city driving or idling, I would go with a gas only because the diesel emissions junk could cause issues. The DPF will build up “sut” and will require you to drive for 45 minutes on the HWY so it can blow out and it uses a good amount of diesel to clean it… this is the case for any modern diesel after 2012 which is why the gas option has become more popular and why Nissan no longer offer the Cummins 👍🏾

I have a few friends with the Cummins Titan, and they all enjoy their trucks. Fits their particular lifestyle well. Sad to see them pull production, but the payload and price put them in a spot where the competition was tough. Nissan probably should have pushed that motor/trans in other vehicles like the NV cargo vans and larger SUV's.

2019 titan Cummins. Head unit radio I’ll agree. Nissans “connect” barely works. That’s why it stays on apple car play all the time. That and a recall on the turbo (replaced for free) Other than those this his been a good truck. PS Other people may hate the shifting on this ASIN, but it’s CRISP. Meant for a HUGE load in the back. Lots of problems with the RTCV, egr cooler leaking coolant into the exhaust system and pretty much destroying the emissions system. Turbo failures, issues with the infotainment system if you have a 2019. Engine wiring harness problems. Most people have less issues when they delete the emission system. You have to pay to play if you're owning this truck
@jamesstouffer18453 жыл бұрын
@@kevintieu693 Hey Kevin; the problems you mention I read about also, is that because you had these issues on your Titan XD diesel or things you read about? I have a 2016 SL and love it! I've had 0 issues at 45,000 miles and I've towed heavy, it rides and tows like a 3/4 ton. You have a lot more maintenance on diesel trucks, and since I'm a retired truck driver I just can't get away from the torque of a diesel. Keep in mind it's hard to find any truck that you can't find problems on KZbin, they all have issues.
@jjsemperfi2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesstouffer1845 The issues Kevin is talking about are true. Easily 50 known broken crankshafts. Lots of turbos and turbo actuators have gone bad. I just bought a used ‘17 with 41K and 3 days after I brought it home my turbo actuator failed. Some trucks are amazing and others are garbage. Seems quality control has failed Nissan and their Cummins (which was in development for something like 9 years and they still couldn’t get it right). Sucks because it really is an amazing truck for people who don’t want a full out 3/4 or 1 ton buckboard.

Jayce Vessier this truck is more than capable and I would choose this setup over a RAM 1/2 ton. Issue you run into is your Payload so I’m basing towing capacity off of that. I wish Nissan built this truck on a true HD platform because I know it’s capable! Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately marketing was the real problem. Why do you think it has a low payload? Because other brands market that their 1/2 ton has a 3000 lb payload? They don't. They just don't... They misrepresent what they actually have, when you compare equal packages, the XD blows them away. Do yourself a favor and go look on the door of a Ford F-250 Super Duty Diesel. Yep! I said Super Duty. As in their version of a Class 2B truck. The payloads as equipped are nearly identical to the Cummins XD. These are heavy trucks, with heavy powertrains, and it is very common for Class 2B (generally marketed as 3/4 ton) trucks with Diesel engines to have functional payloads at around 2000lbs or less. They weigh over 7200 lbs as tested. That's more than 2000 lbs heavier than an F150 1/2 ton! Which one do you think will handle a heavy trailer better? Check it out! It's a fact my friend. The Titan XD Cummins is a Class 2B truck, as well - just in case you didn't know... And if you're curious, feel free to ask any other questions. These trucks are legit. They just got ate alive by fan boys and a lack of marketing.
@MrInnovativeSound5 жыл бұрын
...and FYI, the payload is 500 lbs less on the version you tested because it's Nissan's take on a extreme off-road truck. Pro4X = less towing and payload capability. Go look at the sticker on an SV Midnight Edition for example. Depending on features and options , anywhere from 1800 - 2000 lbs.
@JB_WhoWork5 жыл бұрын

I have a 2016 titan XD Diesel. That is not true about a fifth wheel trailer at all. I’ve had 550,450 & 350 too. Not much different between them

Skid steer is different than a fifth wheel. The pin weight that a fifth wheel adds exceeds the trucks limit. No hate as the 3/4 tons have same problem with Diesel engines.

By " full size" I assume you mean three-quarter ton or one-ton truck. In which case you can't get a comparable truck. Say a fully loaded Titan XD platinum reserve 4x4 vs a Ford f250 platinum 4x4 powerstroke, you'll pay significantly less. Personally I consider the Titan XD like what gm did several years ago with the 1500HD and ram did it with the mega cab half ton.

Dustin Reasoner True. I’m sure there are a few reasons. The interior is excellent. At least it was when it came out for 2016. Toyota doesn't need Cummins. They have a slew of Diesel engines themselves. The US diesel market is a conservative, stubborn thinking one. Very difficult for imports to break into that segment.
