Fabriano is one of my favorite papers. I like the hot press paper and I order it in large sheets, then fold and cut to a variety of sizes for sketching. Not as fancy as having the entire book bound, but more economical and I still get to use the superior paper.

Thank you for reviewing the sketchbooks. I love the color in your sketches with the Perfect Sketchbook. I ordered the sketchbook with the white linen cover in hot press. I love them. I will go be going back to order a set of three in A5 in cold press. I don't normally like Hot Press, however it is really nice to work on. I was shocked when I saw the white cover. I started working in the smallest sketchbook first to test the paper and because I am sick of buying sketchbooks and 'saving them'. The first day I kept it in a plastic bag to protect the cover and then the penny dropped ....it is white so you can decorate it. It now has splashes of acrylic ink all over it. I know they are expensive. I was shocked when I stayed up for the launch of the Perfect Sketchbook and saw the price. I went ahead and purchased and went back and placed a second order. I noted from the Mind of Watercolor review that he does not use his Perfect Sketchbook on a daily basis. Just when the moment calls for it. I will start sketching in mine next week as I have three pages left in the Moleskine sketchbook I am using at the moment.

Teoh, thank you for your review! I ordered the less expensive white covered sketchbook and a feature people aren't really mentioning is the flimsier cover -- they are very soft and the board inside feels like a big piece of cardboard. I was really kind of shocked by it but I think that's how they really cut costs. Added to that the very spongey white cloth covering it gives it a much less professional feel to it -- which is really too bad because the paper inside is great!

Actually the sketchbooks are not that pricey for the quality and 100% cotton paper, in my country art supplies are very expensive, a simple watercolor sketchbook medium size with thin and cellulose paper has almost the same price or is more expensive than each one of these from the bundle, for me the price is pretty good. For sure I'll buy one to try it out

@@lizziedae91 Brazil. Here most art supplies are imported, the exchange rates plus taxes make the price higher, also it's very hard to find the supplies if you live far from a capital so you need to buy online and the shipping can be very expensive (or they don't even ship it to your city lol)

I was able to get some of the cotton covered books with the kickstarter when you told us about them, not one of the earliest but at least I got some. lol They look great so I am still a bit afraid to use one yet. I looked up the Mind of Watercolor video but he didn't paint on any of them yet either. It was very generous of them to send you those, but I wish they had included the cotton covered one too. I would have liked to hear your opinion of all 3 after you got to use them, especially since the paper is not the same in the cotton ones. I am still really excited to see them being used someday!

Perhaps “Perfect” refers to the type of binding.
@lindyashford77445 жыл бұрын
Perfect binding is something else altogether, it is the method used to glue paperback books together and is a cheap method of binding. These note books are stitched and glued into the cover afterwardss which means they are very strong and will never lose any individual pages.

At a starting price of $119 I am out, it's not even their paper, it's Fabriano's (sp) paper. I am surprised at you Teoh, you are better than this. Think of your audience & what our needs are. I for one, at my age, am not spending that kind of money. However, i always appreciate your showing us new products & giving us your opinion. As an aside, some of your audience could buy the paper & DIY their own book.

"Teoh, you are better than this. Think of your audience & what our needs are"??? I feel like that was a bit harsh and you've missed the point of his video maybe?? He's literally giving an intro overview of available products that people may or may not be interested in. He didn't say the products were *must* buys and even said the products were too pricey for him to buy and gave alternative choices if people were interested in similarish artbooks. Are you suggesting that though he thinks these products are a bit pricey for him he should not feature them at all? Teoh's channel has historically been for show casing possible art supplies people may be interested in as fairly as possible while also providing at the end his thoughts in a non-pushy way even if he does not like the product, as different people will have different needs or financial/criteria requirements (for instance with technology products). This is still the case here in this video. He is very clear that he has yet to try this iteration of the product, though he has had a good experience with past iterations of the products and they are 100% cotton paper, and have linked to another channel's review so that people can be better informed if they deem the price worth it for such a product.
