Who wouldn't love to have them. I thought Stillman &Birns was expensive and they had nothing on Etchr. I think I better keep making my own. 🤗 Thankyou for showing the products. I still love the wc pencils a bit more than the marker but everybody has their preferences. They really remind me of the pitt markers which are permanent and slightly able to be manipulated. Thanks

When you do a package opening it is like Christmas. You know so much and have such a deep appreciation for product it contagious. The signature series is fabriano artistico 300g, oh you said that, the basic is 230g, no name mentioned on website. Not available on Dick Blick, but every other sketch pad you’ve ever reviewed is. Just a matter of time. I watch a lot of people on KZbin do these unboxings and without product knowledge it just chips away at the prestige of their talent. You are the best. Always exciting.

I love that you took a coffee break! Made me want a cuppa, too! lol!!! Of course, I'm just sitting here with a scowling grimace, arms crossed, all jealous and butthurt watching you open those sketchbooks. lol! Once again, something I didn't need - but after seeing them, suddenly I do! Can you please tell me what your 100% straight up five-words-or-less opinion is of them? Are they as good as they look? If you had a page from the sketchbook and a sheet of Arches, which would you go for? And lastly, are they sized? I would assume so, but, well... you know that saying! Enjoy them and be warned, my friend... never drink coffee next to your laptop! I learned the hard way! lol! Hope all of yours are doing great! :)

Well, someone said you can never have too many sketchbooks. I'll add to that "100% cotton" sketchbooks. I like them a lot. I'm about to release a video demo done in the white ones. Not a match for arches though to answer your question. I know I should know better with the coffee but dang it! I need my caffeine.

I was sold the minute you showed the extra pocket! Because when travelling I like to print out some pics I want to draw and I'm always stuffing it in my books and in the plane it falls out and I'm bending in impossible ways to find it again. So wish more sketchbooks would do that! Also your coffee mug was giving me anxiety 😅 if I do that it's just waiting till it tips over 😂😂😂

I have ordered the Perfect Sketchbook. I also have a bundle of the Etchr Sketchbooks in white linen in hot press. It is the nicest hot press paper I have come across. I don't normally use hot press. It is good for pen and ink with watercolor. I will be going back to order the cold press at some point. Perhaps when the grey covers are available. Thank you for the tips on using watercolor makers. I have the Winsor Newton set which don't get used enough.

Just had a look at the prices and honestly? It's not that bad. It's 100% cotton and has a ton of pages, and i think it's a pretty good deal if you grab a bundle. You'd only be paying slightly less for other sketchbooks which would have significantly less pages in them. I was looking to upgrade from my non cotton stillman delta sketchbook, so i think i'll give these a try.

I have a kind of off-the-wall question. Why do a lot of artists leave blank pages - multiple blank pages - between the watercolors or sketches? I'm very linear so I tend to start at page one and go through page by page. I can understand leaving the page facing it blank, but sometimes there's one or two or more sets of pages that are blank. I'm assuming there's a reason. If you would enlighten me I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

I can’t speak for other’s but I know why I do this, as in skip pages in watercolor sketchbooks. I will go back and fill those pages in later but will, say, paint on page one and then page four and so on then go back to the beginning and do page two and 5 etc. the reason is that I want to make sure there won’t be any bleeding (even on super high quality paper there can be bleeding and buckling-especially in sketchbooks since you can stretch and tape down the pages like loose pages and I tend to use a lot of wet washes) so skipping pages helps to make sure there is ample time for the paintings to dry and flatten back out before I do something on the opposite side or next page. I also tend to get anxious and worry about making things perfect or get nervous about screwing up the first page in a book where you can’t tear pages out so skipping around helps alleviate that anxiety-but that’s just a weird personal problem (though I know a lot of other artists have the same issue!).

Knowing Faber Castel they probably tuned their colors and hues to match their watercolor pencils. I’m intrigued by the most expensive Sketchbook you showed. I was linked here byTeoh. I always prefer 100% cotton sketchbooks but to use the Fabriano is outstanding. I have the Winsor watercolor markers and I don’t know why. I swatched them and never used them. Down-to-earth, unpretentious and friendly, what else can we ask for regarding reviews? Will you ever consider having workshops? (Hey Cheap Joes! Take notice! Hire this guy!!) You remind me of the late,great Don Getz in your approach to sketching. Cold press now sold out 😕 bought the first incarnation in A4, excellent quality. Purchased Etcher’s field easel pack per your review - jury is still out on this product. A “quality” tripod is necessary with a very strong quick release (1/4” x 20 nut) to avoid becoming bent when attaching. Keep up the honest and thorough reviews, extremely useful.

I know that with the white ones that they either come in hot press 220gsm or cold press 230gsm and the grey ones will be 300 gsm cold press like the signature series.

In my country i get only daler rowney watercolor pads or canson. I prefer neither as they can't take water really well. I would have to order from abroad. Thanks for your videos. Steve totally inspired my passion for MG Paints - I think I purchase a new (or more) Tube every week. Those sketchbooks look amazing, the cover is also cotton on the normal ones so you can decorate it how you like! The markers look great though Faber Castell themselves recommend to only use cellulose fine grained/hot press paper with them. The two they recommend are Canson Montval and Hahnemühle Brittania.

I saw that recommendation but don't agree with it. I found the markers to work really well with Arches. The marker color may move a bit better with cellulose but then you have all the other draw backs to it as you paint on, such as layering issues.

Having seen The Perfect Sketchbook lovingly referred to in a few blogs it was exiting to see that a limited edition of the signature series was available. Pleased that I ordered on Sunday, as the signature series is now sold out.

Watercolor markers look great and fun to use, but at these prices, no thank you. FB doesn't give official ratings with these and from my experience with FB that means they're not going to stand the test of time in real life at all. Great video for sure and if one day I've got the money I may actually give these a try.

TPS is... 110+ dollars for two... I understand why they're so expensive. But goodness! I have 4 of the etchr sketchbooks since I supported the Kickstarter and they're amazing, best I've honestly used but these sketchbooks really aren't cheap by any means. If you have the money to spare, definitely go for it. But if you're tight on cash, might wanna look for an alternative.
