Have seen a couple of videos on the details of how Forest River trailers are made. Not so much for Jayco which has been crossed off my list.

Every step of the way the workers are running on high speed. From screwing flooring to throwing insulation foam to cutting openings in floor etc. I love the Rockwood trailers but it does concern me. You would think the Forest River Co. would slow down the people while shooting the video. I am a retired General Contractor that was meticulous in my building. I would never let my people run like these people. Speed = less care in my book. The guy cutting the floor openings in plywood is definitely over cutting opening. Guess all Rv's are built this way unless you go very high end. As a buddy of mine that lives by a factory said looks like the workers don't need to graduate high school to work in the plant. All in all you can see that it is all about how many units they get out in a day. Tells me it is piece work or payed by production as no one would run that fast day after day if it did not influence their pay. In return it affects quality..

Exactly what I was going to say. No wonder all these factories have issues. Every video in every factory they are running. More about speed than accuracy. Then they want thousand for something guaranteed to fall apart soon.

As the owner of a Rockwood, I agree. I had delamination issues in the first three months I owned it. I would think they would catch something like that when it was being built. I will say they repaired it for me without questioning me in a speedy fashion. I have heard horror stories of people losing their trailer for 6 months to be repaired. Mine was picked up at the dealer and driven back to the factory and then returned to me in 3 weeks. They replaced the whole side of a 34 foot travel trailer which really scares me but I haven't noticed anything wrong with their work. Time will tell.

Every time I see a video from a RV factory, the workers are running and working at an extremely fast pace. I can’t imagine making my employees work at that pace all day. Someone is bound to get hurt.

I have on order a rockwood 2606ws, will be here in 3 weeks, I just wish the workers would slow it up a bit, I know they are being pushed to work as fast as possible, but going too fast just leads to mistakes, I have heard many horror stories about units being delivered with way to many defects....altho' I did a lot of research before deciding on the Rockwood, it seems to be one of the best built, I really like the fact that they put the torflex suspension system on all their models as standard equipment.

timoteo no worries.i work at rockwood.the same exact plant in this video.same place ur rv was built.rockwood is the best damn rv money can buy.we have every part of the process down to a science.and we all work so fast because we've all been doing it for years.

Check out the Jayco you tube video named 7 hours to make one ,and you will be glad to buy Rockwood.I worked for a short time over 40 years back at a trailer assembly line in Calgary ,and man do they pump those things out.It keeps moving down the assembly line regardless.Good luck with your trailer.I am looking at a real small one for weekend camping,the Geo Pro 19 fd with the murphy bed,pulling with a 1/2 ton.It is a very light trailer and will be nice for short camping trips.

Timoteo we have a 2606ws and this past winter went coast to coast 7400 miles and 18 rv parks. It was awesome. A couple of very minor issues too small to mention and I fixed myself. You will love your new Rockwood!

I have an ‘85 rockwood r.v. P30. I drove it to storage , it sat for 8 months and when I started it and put it in gear it wouldn’t move! Someone mentioned it has a button under the dash somewhere similar to a kill switch. Does anyone know about this or experienced the same issue, pls help. Ready to go camping but can’t. T.i.a. Lori

I see lots of comments about the speed of the workers. Keep in mind that they know they are on camera. Having run house framing crews for over 20 years, I would be surprised if they always worked at this pace -- most people simply can not do it, and hard workers are hard to find. But what worries me is that I don't see anyone stopping to fix the missed screw, etc.

easy to see why the QUALITY sucks on any rv, camper, fifth wheel. Have a bad night and miss one step in the build process and move on to the next one. A person can only run so fast day after day. What ever happened to pride in our work?

I agree everyone is running fast. I am a retired contractor and if my guys would of circular sawed openings in the floor like that they would not be working for me or slow down. I see how stuff goes wrong. Way to fast..

@@melinatoche do you work for Forest River? Most of it is the guys walking and running fast. I know construction and am in tune to the construction. I won't go into it but one example of the video that I don't care if they slowed it down, when the guy glues the floor as they all say studs which it would a joist on the floor. He is using a pneumatic glue gun which he gets the glue on the joist of the floor and then the guys putting down the 5/8" plywood they set a couple of sheets then quickly drop or slide the next couple of sheets to lay them out and they are hanging way over the sides. When they move them into the correct placement the glue has been spread on the plywood when it first hit the framing. Defeats the purpose of using glue. Maybe I should say it displaces most of the glue. I have talked to sales people that have taken a factory tours and they say they are moving fast. I believe I have heard and would say they are paid on piece work. No worker would last long if they were moving that fast without and incentive. They are slammed together. I still am probably purchase a Rockwood. As you said and I agree they are one of the better ones. So you must work in the industry, correct?? Cheers

@jim i do not work for forest river but I am in the industry. Also, I don’t call it Forest River, this is the Rockwood plant. Each brand works differently I see these trailers everyday, been to Indiana and walked through the factories; They are moving fast but what factory doesn’t? I have seen about 80% of the RV manufacturers and that is why I say with confidence that Rockwood is one of the best in the industry, they vacuum bond their walls and use aluminum to support things like the bed, and dinette where others just use wood. They have torflex axles and I have not seen a single one fail and rarely see recalls. Given, there will be a few that have some issues but I will say they are the cleanest trailers I’ve seen especially for the money. Lance and Airstreams are the only other trailers I would say are better built of the big brand names. What I tell people before they buy is to buy from a reputable dealership with a full service shop otherwise any trailer can be a nightmare when you don’t have a dealership that knows how to fix everything, they’re the ones that will truly back the customer and fix things better than they started with.

@@melinatoche like I said I have looked at many and I have always said Lance is a well built product. Airstream is in a class of their own. Yes Forest River has many many brands I know and the Rockwood / Flagstaff plant builds a darn good product. It is like the Grand Design that claims a 200 point inspection and I might say in the beginning maybe but now as production increases they can't inspect from what I have seen. The sales pitch is how well built they are and how well they are inspected twice they say. Well Like I have showed the sales person things that were real poor quality like a drawer that was way out of wack. Drawer was 3/4 in off at the face frame of cabinet. Like I said if if was inspected they would of never let it go to the dealer. I said if my quality control person let that go out I would fire him or her. All in all for the money Rockwood is a nice unit. Like I said it will be my choice when we purchase. Just went to the RV Show today in Ca. I do appreciate your input and opinion specially when you are in the industry.

I met a guy last year who said he worked at an RV plant. He said that they got paid a full day's work even when finishing the daily quota early. So, their incentive was to rush through so they could get off work early...and still get paid for the whole day. Not surprising that quality is in the toilet.

This is forest river? I bought a Coachman Clipper 2 yrs ago already got wood rot on the front rails what a pile of 💩. They said 12yr roof not true either.

This is ROCKWOOD, although Coachmen and Forest River are owned by the same people, their factories are completely different. Check out a Rockwood in person and you can clearly see the difference.

@LetsGoChamp I feel sorry for you if that was your experience. Not all trailers are built the same, that's a fact. Rockwood/Flagstaff has a huge following for that reason. Also, Lance Campers are one of the best trailers/campers built.
