2019 runDisney Marathon - Dopey Challenge - Our Experience

Watch this video as I’m on my Peloton trying to get on of Dopey Training in and once y’all hit mile 24 I started to choked up and teary eyed thinking about how in less than 150 days I will be attempting my first full marathon and Dopey. Great motivational video!

Not sure how I'm just finding this video. This is exactly what I needed tonight. Great editing, great music, outstanding production that really captures the spirit of the events. I'm a 4 time WDW marathoner and a 1 time Dopey finisher (2020). I ran in the last of the four races in this video. 2021 was supposed to be Dopey number 2 for me, but then, of course... covid came calling. By the end of this video I was balling my eyes out, missing marathon weekend this year, missing the crowds, the characters, the signs and the completely random strangers who appear to be genuinely, legitimately proud of you, cheering you on along the way. Thank you so much for making this. I needed a dose of this tonight.

Wow very inspiring. I am running in the Star Wars one in April at 68 yrs young but just the 5K though. I did the 5K Disney Princess Run a week ago.

Wow. Absolutely fantastic video! Really captures the entire race weekend! And I am so jealous of your picture with Bowler Hat Guy! I ran the marathon as well and when I went through there it was still dark and my picture ended up blurry. You guys are really luck to be able to run Dopey with each other. Curious as to what training plan you use, though. The woman especially seems like she had a lot of energy left at the end of the race.

Thanks for the kind words! Bummer about Bowler Hat Guy...maybe next year! We use Jeff Galloway for distance recommendations. We only walk through water stops (or characters). I refer to my wife as the speed boat, and I'm the anchor. She's faster than me so usually has some extra energy at the end. Hauling around a 2 lb camera didn't slow her down as much as I thought - time for a bigger camera!

COVID Rn I’ve run 1 mile every day since May1 . I watch the dopey challenge when I run . I’m short 4 ‘9 ‘’ But I hope to do a Disney run one day 😍

At least the money I raised for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society will make it worth it. This was supposed to be my last Dopey but I will probably do it one more time in the future because I want to back to Disney.

This is the second time that I watched this recap. Such an amazing video! I love the way you captured the atmoshere, with some very unique angles. (Placing the camera on the ground and film the runners, wow!) I did my first Dopey this year, and that lyrics of the last scene of Happily Ever After is just perfect. I will be back for Dopey #2 next year!

This is awesome, thanks! I'm gong to sign up for the 2021 marathon but I was wondering, about how long are the wait times for more rare characters (like Goob)?

It's all about coral placement and keeping ahead of the pack. The good news is you have about 11 months to submit get a POT for 2021. Based on that time, you'll be placed in a coral. There are plenty of characters, and lines might vary. When we saw Goob, we were able to walk right up to him!
