Hey Charles! Honestly I love the SChecter. The JP is so sick don't get me wrong, but it has a floating bridge. It isn't built for rhythm. I like the JP neck more, but the Schecter is fast and tighter for metal and rhythm. Long story short I'd go schecter all day. I hope this helps buddy.

Hey buddy! I think it's better than the Strandberg in a different way. Strandbergs are really fragile. My 8 string broke. The 7th string tuner broke the other day. I think this guitar and my Jim root stuff are so rock solid. The schecter neck is super small and skinny which is good for me because I have small hands. I hope this helps big man

I don't think they come stock with the ability to coil split. The push/pull knobs are for switching pickup voicing. 1 knob controls the bridge pickup and the other controls the neck pickup.

Did you happen have any fret buzz issues with yours? I ordered one through Sweetwater and was surprised that it's so noticeable. I'm not too familiar with guitar maintenance/repair, so this was kind of a bummer after spending this much on a new guitar. I still love this Schecter though, just hoping this'll be an easily fixable thing.

Its slightly different specs (Custom shop Apocalypse pickups; set thru; all Ash) I think the Apocalypse C-7 is really worth a look. I chose it over the SLS because to my ears the sound was better (yes, than an NT, maple topped, ash bodied fishman) and it just looks f u c k i n g inredible. Ray said aesettically the Black is more his ballpark, but its all subjective.

@@xanderraymondcharles I expect it to. If I was going to get a custom guitar built for me this guitar is almost exactly what I would have asked for. I'm normally not into Black guitars even though I'm a Metal Head because at the time I first got into playing everybody had black guitars and I like being different. I first saw this as a tease from Schecter's official Facebook page and it just grabbed my attention right away. By the way they are expanding the SLS Elite line into the E series guitars and also the Bass guitar lines. I'm not sure if that includes the Evil Twin color way but I have seen the other 2 color ways.

@@thisisnotclubpenguin9459 ok so I actually bought this guitar. And it has a very thin neck. It's on par with an Ibanez as thin but is more rounded c shape then a thin flat ibanez neck. It has less shoulder to it. Now I also have a schecter apocalypse 6 string. Which has what they call the thin c instead of the ultra thin c and that feels better to me little thicker. I hope this helps.

Been thinking about getting a Schecter since a couple of months now. Still hesitating between the Hellraiser Hybrid C-1 FR S Ultraviolet (a bit heavy it seems), C-1 FR S SLS Evil Twin (sustain version of this video), C-1 FR SLS Elite Antique Fade burst and the C-1 FR S Apocalypse Red Reign. The sound of the Ultraviolet since sick, but it is a really heavy beast (like in old Gibson heavy). The Evil Twin looks great, but the Floyd Rose model only comes in Sustain, not sure I want it over EMG/Fisherman's pickups. The Antique Fade Burst lacks the roman inlays ... :( The apocalypse Red Reign only comes in Sustain again ... Think I might go for the Antique fade burst ... what's your opinion?

Don't know how PRS SE are made, but Schecters are some of the greatest guitars for the price you can find. I prefer my cheap Omen-7 to a lot of more expensive guitars I've played. And it feels super solid, built like a tank.

The SLS Elite/Evil Twin series is probably the best high mid-range deal on the market right now. C'mon man....They just don't have any competition. I was very recently considering the new LTD M1000HT. Which is speced and priced almost exactly the same but lacks stainless fret wire. So now I am looking at the PT SLS Elite.

Very nice review, thank you! I'm currently looking for my first 7-string; budget between 1000 and 2000... I have discovered this a while ago (the C7) and I somehow come back to it everytime after finding another potential buy... Its just so much guitar for the money... But, as someone already mentioned, there's also the new Keith Merrow Signature, the KM-7 MK-III that comes at a slightly higher pricepoint. It seems to have similar specs to this one (neck-through; wood-combination; Fishmans; Hipshot bridge) but with Hipshot tuners, a stunning top wood and finish, Keiths signature PU's and of course a slightly changed body and headstock form... I'm really torn between these two; I think, I will go Schecter with my next axe, with 7 strings, Fishmans and fixed bridge as an addition to my current guitar (Ibanez JEM7V), but I'd love to see an honest comparsion between these two, especially how the signature Fishmans compare against the well-known and all-loved "normal" Fishmans...At least look-wise I'd go with the KM in Crimson Burst. I mean, both guitars look hella sick, but the KM has this bit more, with the other headstock and stuff... But keep on the good work, man! Glad to see that you like this guitar! Given your obvious experience with a lot of guitars and the honest style of your reviews, it really helps a lot in the process of my decision (never been good in this ^^)! Edit: If there's anything else you'd recommend at my budget, please tell me! I'm always up for new input!

I have been eyeing up this guitar since they came out. I am about to pull the trigger on the model with the Floyd Rose and Sustainiac humbucker. You've been playing this guitar for about a month now, are you still as pleased with it as you were at the time of your original review? So would anyone be able to tell me the actual differences between the C1 evil twin and the E1 evil twin? I’ve seen both online, I tried to compare specs, but I can’t seem to find any differences. I’m also visually impaired so maybe it’s an aesthetic thing that I missing or whatever but I just thought I’d ask. I’m in the market for my first metal guitar and this one sounds mean as absolute fuck so I’m probably going to settle with it but thought I’d ask my initial question anyway. Umm... Well other than having a completely different body and head stock shape it's all exactly the same as this model other than having a tone pros bridge Instead of the hipshot.

On the site it specifies push pull knobs, does that mean this can be coil tapped

boiled tapped and two different voicing. Fshmans always have two separate voicings. Hope this helps!

Fucking Schecters, man... I LOVE my cheap Omen 7 (it was 330$ when I bought it), it resonates well, is super comfortable to play (yes, it is!), feels better made than guitars twice the price (Ibanez's especially). Once I put a Nazgul in it it sounds brilliant for metal!

@@xanderraymondcharles yeah lol like an year ago I went to the local shops to try some other 7 strings cause I thought of upgrading to a higher end guitar... Nothing felt better than my Schecter, true story. Even a 1000$ Jackson. So I decided to put a really nice pickup in it, give it to a luthier to level and crown the frets and have it properly set up by a professional and now I wouldn't trade it for Anything! Plays like butter and feels amazing! P.S. The frets were okay when I bought it, I just had it for over 6 years and it's my only electric so it needed some work done on it. Don't be confused - the fretwork was fine from out of the factory. Unfortunately a lot of affordable guitars have really bad frets.

P. S. Even the luthier who I gave it to, and who makes high end custom guitars said it resonated really well and was a nice guitar and liked it. I hope people start giving more credit to Schecter, cause I don't see many people playing it in my country. Or in general.

I'm actually saying that for your benefit. The benefit of having locking tuners is that you shorten string change time and increase tuning stability because the string doesn't even make a full wrap around the tuning post. Pull string through taught, tighten locking mechanism, clip excess, and tune to pitch. It makes a huge difference for holding tuning.
