Great video! Just a bit of advice in removing the battery terminals: Always take the ground terminal off first, and reinstall it last to avoid doing arc welding with your socket wrench when you tighten the positive terminal and accidentally touch the tool to the frame. I have done it and it wrecks your tool and makes you jump into the next township.

Great advice, it can happen so easy if you don’t follow correct procedure. Rule of thumb: if you are ever doing anything to the positive terminal, the negative terminal better be disconnected. Applies to jumping a car too.

Thanks for the video . Ended up getting the TONE PG86S extension set from Amazon Japan, helped a bunch but still very tricky for the driver rear plug. The trick in addition to your video was to disconnect the driver rear coil pack cable connector first to be able to get the coil pack out. Still a PITA! My plugs looked alright at 60k miles, but glad to finally get them replaced.

Great video! This explains why Subaru wants +$500 to replace the plugs. I miss the good ol' days when the plugs were right on top and it took 15 minutes to replace them, even for a total novice like me. Also, someone mentioned that the music was overpowering... the first song wasn't bad but the second song did begin to drown out your voice. However, I don't know if it was intentional but the "whir whir whir" at 1:28 in time with the impact wrench was a really nice touch.

2020 Forester sport here... The ac line is dangerously close to the wiring harness bracket on the driver side. Also, probably don't have to unplug the ECU at all if you can just move the harness enough. Furthermore, the driver rear ignition coil required undoing the harness clip with a flat head and DO NOT lose this clip, and then pulled out the coil towards the front and up of the engine bay. Your extensions are going be slightly too short and just too long to really inconvenience you as much as possible 😂. Good luck if you are taking on the good ol boxer spark plugs on.

Good job man great video!! You said it well, and really illustrated what it takes mentally and physically to do this job. I always do the hardest ones first or somewhere in the middle as not to be tired or mentally burned out on the job. Hey, and another way to justify the time vs money savings borderline is to take the amount you would spend and put it towards one of your other "fun" hobbies, and buy yourself that thing you've been waiting to buy. I did my spark plugs and CVT fluid, then easily justified a new $1k RC car. :-) - not being married also helps. ha ha

@Lucrativesoldier once I took the clip off the backside of the coil pack and turned the coil itself so the bolt hole was pointing the top ot came out! But not without a loss of skin and blood..... lol, I've been working on cars/trucks/ motorcycles/small engines for over 45 year's as a ASE certified mechanic for most of that time. Unfortunately, I lost most of my tools in the " camp fire " on November 8 2018, and I haven't planned on replacing what I had. Sometimes, I miss being tooled up. Thanks for posting this and getting back to me I really appreciate it

@@christopherjohnston6042 Glad you were able to get it. A little skin and blood is always better than losing your marbles. It's a close battle between the two. lol It's always great to have the tools, but it also seems like you never have enough. lol I bought my dad some new tools, and he still comes over to borrow mine. lol. Take care!

Oh shoot, thanks for the heads up. I watched it before uploading and I did notice where I said something and it was hard to hear over the music, but I didn’t think it was that bad.😒 Thanks for the advice. It seems they always make sure the spark plugs aren’t easy to get to.😂

Any way to lower songs volume when you edit @@Lucrativesoldier . Yours isn't the only vid that music seems to be louder than vids normal audio. I know some editing tools & free music doesn't let audio levels be adjusted in editing
@Lucrativesoldier
@Lucrativesoldier 3 жыл бұрын
@@tpseeker3367 lol yes, that was actually lowered quite a bit. Next time I’ll go a little lower. It’s always tricky trying to find a good balance in the audio. I just watched it again, and for me, the only part that was kinda hard to hear was when I started on the first spark plug and said what size socket to use.🥴. So hopefully people will notice I put that info in the description.

Great video. Thank you for sharing. I have a question, does anyone else 2019 Subaru forester do a lot of kicking and jerking when it’s in first or second gear? Also, it’s not a smooth transition between the lower gears either. Also, it feels like I’m having a loose of power climbing hills with/out the ac on. I had my local dealership look at it but of course they never find anything! I’m truly concerned it’s the transmission 😳.
@Lucrativesoldier
@Lucrativesoldier Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I haven’t had that problem, but I would agree, sounds like a transmission issue. Unfortunately the Subaru dealers are great at not finding the problem.😒 involving Subaru USA, and being persistent often helps get things done. Make sure to document all your issues and efforts to address them, so you have records. Good luck!

Did you use the dealer NGK plugs SKU: 22401AA940 NGK: DILKAR7Q8? or the one that rock auto sells NGK: DILKAR7Q8 or hardly anyone else. Can anyone confirm the B8 variety fits and functions properly?

I did not have to do the relearn. I’m actually just seeing the relearn process for the cvt fluid change, and I didn’t do that one either and haven’t had any issues. I think if you have an error code or the vehicle isn’t running right, then you need to do the relearn.
