I'm currently saving for a used 2018 3.6R and this review made me feel good about my decision

Subaru is noted for making THE BEST CVT on the market. Even better then Honda. I think if they had stayed with a 5 or 6speed automatic with this 6cyl. It wouldn't get up to speed as fast as it does. CVT's are noted for doing that since they don't have gear ratios to go through. Sure there is "simulated shifts" but it's still faster then having a regular automatic.

Technically the CVT gearbox of the 2015-2019 model year legacy is called a 6 speed lineartronic CVT but it's because subaru programmed 6 ratios via a software that manages the gearbox and it's much much faster than most regular automatics, CVTs overall can have up to infinite equal ratios or 1 continuous ratio

These are great cars, Ive owned 3 in the past.....

Car people hate the CVT transmission cuz there's no way to actually test how much fluid is in or if the fluid is gone bad you physically have to drain the entire Transmission in which is costly.

I like your review about the sound, it's way better than the current 2.4T!

The current 2.4l turbo is no sloutch either but the 3.6L has ab immense tuning potential

My dad owns a Outback 3.6r Touring which is basically the same car but in wagon form and boy let me tell you.. THAT THING IS QUICK.

What year is the one your dad owns? We have the 2018 outback 3.6R touring and it hauls ass and acts like a Porsche around the corners because I put in a STI rear sway bar. It’s a big difference from stock.

@DiversityForIsraelDon’t be bothered with steering away from the CVTs. They’re bulletproof transmissions for what they are; Subaru made sure they could withstand 3000+ lbs of towing and plenty of stress while offroading. They don’t build them out of garbage like what Nissan puts in the Sentra. Subaru’s CVTs are really worth it, and the newer ones have simply gotten better and more reliable; faster simulated manual shifts, stronger steel chain drive, and overall incremental improvements made year after year. People seriously need to stop labeling these transmissions as being horrible just because of bad actors from other companies. Subaru really knows what they were doing when they made these, and it wasn’t a cost-cutting measure or a way to keep people from owning their cars for long times.

A 6 spd manual as an option would have been great.

What about body roll compared for example to dodge charger?
@eliharalson37872 жыл бұрын
There is not a ton of body roll, I have the 2018 outback 3.6r touring and if you go into a corner with no power than it seems like your driving a truck, if you go into a corner with 20% or more throttle than it handles like a Porsche.

You certainly DO NOT want a dual clutch they break and are very unreliable.
