Good lord, Dave Ramsey would have an aneurism watching this video lol. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a cool truck but 50k is a lot to have tied up in just a vehicle. I bought a brand new 2019 TRD Sport 4X4 last July for 33k but that was after saving money for 3 years while on multiple military deployments. It literally pays to have no payments. I hope it serves you well, I won’t buy any other vehicle besides a Taco now

Wow- $33K for a 2019 TRD Sport 4X4 is a fantastic deal. I recently joined the Tacoma world and paid $40K for my TRD Sport and it’s only a 4X2. Mine is the full 4 door crew cab, but it’s pretty loaded. I have no regrets getting it and absolutely love it. I was able to pay cash after trading in my 2014 Nissan Frontier. Truck prices are out of control right now. If you want a Tacoma in any kind of decent shape with any level of options, be prepared to drop a ton of money. Did I overpay for mine - probably a little, but I got what I wanted when I wanted it.

My 2005 4.0 Pre-Runner had a head gasket issue at 175K 12+ months ago, and I went through a pro/con list to repair VS replace (I’ve owned since 06’, and always changed oil and had at least 4 coolant flushes). I ended up repairing; both heads reworked, new timing chain kit, water pump, thermostat, every hose under the hood, accessories, etc. Now at 190k and running strong…would like to get 3-5 years out of it before buying the next one.

The current generation is cool, and most people who want Tacomas want the new ones, however I’m staying with the older trucks. $50,000 is quite a sum of money for a vehicle only being driven a few times a month. $50k for a new Tacoma is fucking ridiculous. I’d rather spend the $15-20k on a used lower mileage 2nd gen or even less for a 1st gen in good condition. No mid size truck is worth more than $35k, let alone $50k. And to add insult to injury of letting it be a garage queen, why would you even waste that kind of money if you aren’t going to drive it? Could have saved that money for when the older Tacoma starts having any problems and getting them fixed. Sorry but that is just silly. @HorsepowerWarehouse4 жыл бұрын
Good question, your truck is going to be a whole different ball game because the 5 lug trucks are set up different and have some unique lift limitations that the 6 lugs don't have. You do have some options but 5100's will not work on a 5 lug truck in the front, you're stuck with a spacer lift. Search "the Lifting your 5 lug guide" on Tacoma World for some good suggestions on what some options are.

The 3rd Gen has hunting problems with the new Automatic transmission from 2016 up to today, and the stupid redesign of the 3rd Gen oil filter is a real deal breaker... The ridiculous price increase is the final reason why I won't change to 3rd Gen.....Why would I pay more to be saddled with automatic Trannmission issues and a Dealer Friendly oil filter, redesign ( it looks like this bad redesign was for the dealers so you would rather pay to change your oil and filter... No thanks Toyota )... This stupid 3rd Gen oil filter with a 2 piece ,separate paper element redesign, ( Now located under the engine instead of up high beside the battery, like the Second Gen engine) was around in the beginning of automobile creation and It was replaced by a simple screw on canister ... To go backwards, is not appreciated ,Toyota,,, So no , I will keep my bulletproof second Generation truck...
