The jeans were heavily soiled, small rocks or pebbles may have found their way into the pump making a grinding noise. During agitation the pump is constantly turning in the opposite direction so that even though the impeller is spinning it is not pumping water out the drain. The debris was finally pumped out during rinse and spin.

Kirk I think It did a pretty good job cleaning considering that they were washed in cold water only and not pretreated or anything like that!!! in reality with a load that dirty, I would first pretreat the tough stains, Then put them through a pre-wash cycle to wash away some of the dirt, then through the heavy duty cycle using warm water and a full cap of detergent plus an extra rinse... People need to understand that loads like these need to be helped along a little, not just thrown in with a little detergent and then expect them to come out looking brand new!!! I've read so many reviews on u-tube where people put the washer down because the clothes didn't come out clean the first time, People these are just washing machines not merical workers, you have to do your part too in helping with the process to achieve the goal of clean clothes!!! Great Video Kirk and Have A Great Weekend!!!

John Sluder yep my stepfather was a in the rendering business and the old MaGraw Edison SQ's took care of that with ease until the year 2000. But you still might have to run a load twice. This whole idea machines clean everything and get stains out and all that in one wash isn't a realistic expectation and never was!

Thank you for using the CORRECT method of fabric softener use! So many friends of mine absolutely fill their agitator full of it with no water dilution and it drives me nuts! In fact I use vinegar instead of fabric softener, to completely eliminate the risk of damage to the machine and my clothes.

@@jeromedavis8575 I understand your argument, you may use fabric softener but only 1-3 teaspoons is good. Fabric softener is only effective because it leaves a thin layer of film on your clothes. That not only builds up on your clothes but your washer. It takes a while for someone to notice it but after 8 years it will start showing. It can interfere with the agitator and motor sometimes breaking it. I hope you understand what my argument is.

Thank you for all of your videos. They helped me make a decision re purchasing a new Speed Queen. I was really thrown for a while as the TR7 looked really bad and it appeared that in Australia we only had a washer which looked identical to it. This put me off buying for quite a while. When I asked the salesmen about the washers they didn’t know what I was talking about re the 2018 model. Turns out that in Australia Speed Queen have kept the old-school agitation (we never got the TR action) but we have also been given all of the wash cycle and choices found on the TR7 (which is why the control panels look identical). The model is AWNE92BLACK. The best of both worlds! I can’t believe we have this machine down here and you don’t. I took delivery today and have already put 3 loads through. A little noisier than expected, but hands down the best machine I’ve ever had.

Persil is the same as the old Whisk! laundry detergent. Personally I use old fashioned Gain soap powder along with a couple spoonfuls of tri-sodium phosphate along with a capful of Calgon liquid water softener as we have hard water here and it does a fantastic job. Two more months and I'll have enough saved up for my new TC5 :D I think they've went up to $1,300.00 now + tax which will make it $1,391.00 here in Southern Indiana. I may keep saving to get the dryer as well depending on how long my 20+ year old whirlpool pair keep going.

Kirk, I appreciate your testing. However, I believe most homeowners, and I know this might be hard for others living in an apartment, but before those jeans would have entered into y machine, regardless of whose brand it is, and I understand what your intentions were here, those jeans would have been shaken outside to make sure all mud clods and/or pebbles would be out of the clothes. Then, if I had a garden hose, I would have hosed down those jeans to get as much of the surface mud off of them as possible. If I was in an apartment and I didn't have access to a garden hose, then I would have brought them to the kitchen sink, or the bathtub and rinsed that mud off the best I could. I have played in mud much worse than that in my 4x4 truck, and I would never allow something like that to go into the machine. What brought me here today is that I am looking to replace my machines with Speed Queen's, whom I'm very familiar with. Again, I appreciate your testing and understand your intent. I just don't think most people would put that kind of "mud" into their machines like that. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. And with different soils in the country (USA), Deep South Clay isn't going to come out of the machine that easy, even if it is a Speed Queen. Thanks again for the video.

i just found 1 simple trick to having this speed queen washer fill the tub all the way to the very top. 1. just simply wait until the tub is done deep filling the tub. 2. then let it start a wash cycle and then 3. afterwards cancel the current cycle completely by holding start for 10 seconds. 4. then start a new cycle again by pressing the start button and then the washer will fill up with a little more water into the tub for maximum tub fill!! this is also handy for extending the current wash cycle times by reseting it. in case you wanna do a 48 minute wash cycle

I mean, the pants were dirtier than just a little bit! Pants that dirty would probably be rinsed before going in a machine in a normal house but, the washig machine bodied these pants. Maybe, since denim is so rigid, remove a pair but all in all, it did a good job. I also would have considered after the first wash, turning the dial back to wash again and doing another wash with 2 rinses. Still, to me, this is the best washing machine on the market by far

I have a 30 year old Maytag model LA412 that's been a great washer but for the last 6 months it gets a little iffy as to whether it will agitate without fiddling with it so I'm going to change out a couple of parts and if that doesn't work I will be looking for a new one. I have heard that Speed Queens are built like tanks but in recent years don't wash very well. Consumer Reports only gives it a 3 out of 5 rating on the actual cleaning. After looking into this I have seen where Speed Queen has addressed this issue and once again made it where the agitator does the movement of the clothes and not the tub. I was looking at the Maytag MVWP575GW commercial grade residential machine but nobody has them in stock so I may try this Speed Queen TC5000WN and not the TR 5000WN

I have a dumb noob kinda question to ask. I've never seen a washer with a place for the fabric softener built into the top of the agitator. I noticed during the first spin that the fabric softener cup emptied, but did not see any splash out of the top (or not that I could catch it with my own eyes), how does the fabric softener end up in with your clothes?
@fredx7429
@fredx7429 3 жыл бұрын
During the first spin, the softener is slung by gravity to the inside walls of the big top cap. When it stops spinning, the softener will work it's way down the agitator and out the holes in the shaft and into the water as it's filling for the rinse cycle. Watch the small holes that are cleverly made down at the bottom of the agitator and you'll see the softener coming out and going into the water (look close for the film it makes in the water right at the edge of the agitator at the bottom). Watch a video of someone taking the softener cap apart and cleaning it out and it will make sense how the gravity part works. I hope this helps.

Can anyone please help: it's March 2020 and I must purchase a new washing machine... I had no idea what an absolute nightmare this would be.... Is there not any decent unit i can get with NO push buttons, fancy lights or electronics of any kind? I desperately want a washing machine that still utilizes a mechanical timer and none of that electronic crap, a washing machine that has decent roll since this household has two blue collar workers that both bring home some pretty nasty clothing.. It seems like speed queen really has gone downhill since 2017... if only the AWN432s was not discontinued that would be perfect because it had a load size adjustment for situations needing small fill.... heck, If I would have realized that washing machine shopping in 2020 would be this horribly depressing, I would have bought like 5 units 25 years ago and put them in storage... It's now going on 2 weeks of no home washer and getting sadder with each passing day..

I have to retire my 30 year old Kenmore, hated that it twisted sheets so tight it took forever to untwist them, so ended up at a laundromat to wash sheets. That ol Kenmore had a high rpm on both spin cycles and 30 second splash rinse which was great. This video showed only 2 seconds of splash rinse, wish it was minimum 15 seconds. The SQ tub is small so it'll require more frequent wash loads, but keeping it simple, doing it right is the way to go. I’m about to put in my order after a week or so of research and about 200 hours of of video comparison and decided that the TC5 wins hands down. Apparently they get better with use due to the new brakes “setting in” and minimizing indexing of the wash tub which is another plus. Hope that helps 👍

The TC5 series is what's shown, with the classic agitator that goes back and forth, drawing the clothes down to the bottom of the drum, and back up. The TR3, 5, and 7 series has the agitator bolted to the drum, and mimics the agitation of a HE top loader. It's horrible watching clothes barely moving in the tub. Alliance Laundry refuses to drop the TR series, despite the complaints about its wash action. The TR series would not have gotten those jeans clean at all. As for the Speed Queen front loader, the FF series, I didn't use the residential model, but a laundromat model that's similar to the FF series, and was disappointed in the front loader. I used one of their front loaders from 2010, and worked ok. The laundromat model seemed to have been made to meet the energy standardized of residential models, by barely having any water in them. So I doubt I'll get the FF series front loaders, and get an LG. At least I know I can hack their front loaders, if I need more water.

Kirk, your test was unfair to the machine. Jeans this soiled (mine get this way regularly) need either to be first rinsed off outdoors with the hose on "full," or-pre-washed in the machine. Your setting should have been "heavy soil"--which implies that the machine knows to give extra oomph to the rinse, hence dealing with your complaint that you couldn't instruct for both extra rinse and heavy soil. I will say that your videos and the reviews below them have helped me decide which washer NOT to buy (was looking at a GE/GTW465SNWW, and the incredibly slow cycle and awful reviews there made me rethink that!) This Speed Queen machine is nearly 2x the cost of the one I've rejected, but I'd like to see it tested fairly with accurate settings and better pre-handling/dirt-reduction (more like what most of us do) of the laundry.
