Toyotas hybrid tech is top class. I love their tech. Instead of adding some E motor to a regular car they have created an integral system which increases the strength and diminishes the weaknesses of each tech. They car crated an atkinson cycle engine with low torque but great reliability and efficiency and paired it with a high torque once again reliable electric motor. They have created a great automatic transmission with unlimited gearing chosen by the electric motor with little to none wear. This is by the far the best system on the marked. No wonder they hnd out that 15 years and 250k kilometers warranty here in Germany. This is a fantastic vehicle. It´s a shame they cal their transmission eCVT it has nothing in common with a CVT transmission whatsoever. Gas usage in the city for my Corolla 1.8 is 4.8l/100km

@@AutoStartTest Well it was old too as a 2nd gen. Here in Germany a Prius start with something like 40k which is way too much for me. My goal was around 10k with a used car but since the marked skyrocketed and I really liked the Toyota Hybrid I got it fr 18k instead. It´s more or less the same tech a the Prius so I am happy. I don´t need the size of the Prius so it´s alright.

Thank you for the good review! I like the car in general. But I also test drove it and found several problems that made me not buy one. - bad allround visibility - too much piano black in the front cabin - the infotainment system is one of the worst around the market I would say (no android auto and apple car play for instance..., also the reverse camera has no trajectory lines) - the trunk is small and impractically shaped - there is too much road noise on the highway, I am not quite sure but I think the 18" wheels and tires did add most to that - I had a hard time finding a good seating position between the steering wheel, the seats and the roof> one can only sit comfortably when having the seat very low. trying to have a high seating potition is futile. What I do like a lot: - the looks and style of the car is amazing - it is greatly planted on the road and comfortly to drive - on low speeds everything is so nice and quiet inside, especially the engine - I also like the seats a lot, their shape and bolstering are great - the fuel consumption is exemplary, as far as I know even in the 2,0 l version which is even capablöe of going in EV mode much longer and on higher speed (but lacks trunk space, has useless paddle shifters and fake exhausts) So I agree on a lot of the reviewer and think the car is to be recommended if one can look over some of the deficiencies.

Toyota simply does not know where to put those EV switches. First they put it under and a bit to the right of the gear stick so you have to take your eyes off the road in order to find the switch. Now this even worser solution. Would it hurt them to put it somewhere up front or to incorporate it into the steering wheel? Anything but this solution. And the cup holders... another "great" thinking by Toyota. For a car in this price segment I would expect a "simply clever" solution as offered by Skoda.

Yes you're right,but for example in new RAV4 the switch is in perfect place (please take a look at my review) unfortunately in "simply clever" in the same segment (Skoda Scala, video also on my channel) the cup holders are too small and not in the right place, but the Scala offer much more amount of space then Corolla with the same dimensions. In summary is very hard to find the perfect compact car, btw I'm looking forward to testing all New Kia X-Ceed , maybe there will be perfect.
