Hi - agree, excellent video. I have a dent in the panel just over the Front left wheel of mine 2019 RAV4, so the panel that’s just before the bumper. Any advice on how to get that off? I was told there was a way to get that out using boiling water… Not sure that’s Advisable but I at least wanna try to bang it out myself gently

Great video! I hope I never have to remove my RAV4 bumper, but I subscribed. This is an awesome channel, man. I used to pull the bumpers off my BMW cause I was always doing my lil mods 😂 and back when I first did it, I couldn’t find a good video on how to. So these type videos are so valuable for many of us. Thank you for this video. I will attempt to do this. The sensor on the passenger side was either pushed in or fell off behind the bumper and it has been beeping like crazy. I hope I don't have to open the entire thing to replace it. Thanks again.

Thanks, good straightforward video. Do you need a special tool for removing the clips, or just use a flathead driver? I need to replace a driver side headlight assembly and looks like the bumper has to come off to do that. No videos online yet for 2019 headlight assembly replacement.

No you don’t need a clip remover, you can just use a flathead driver to remove the clips too. You can just loosen half of the bumper and remove the screws and clips. For the headlamp there’s about 2-3 10mm screws on the top,(color of the screws is silver) then look at the bumper retainer on the side and there’s one black 10mm screw holding it from there too, remove it. Unplug your cables going into the headlight. The cables might to clipped into the headlight just look under it and pinch it out with your flathead driver. If the bird is located behind the lower grille you might be able to just loosen the 10mm screws on the bottom of the bumper and stick your hand in there and pull it out. For whatever reason you can’t reach it, then I recommend removing the front bumper so you won’t damage any parts. Scared to do this 😂😂😂 I like the fitment. I’m scared it won’t go back to it’s original spot I’m installing seimid brand fog lights (direct replacements for OE Toyota/Lexus fogs), and I’m gonna take the bumper off to install the lights. I’m hoping for the best!! Wish me luck!

No you can replace only the painted bumper. The bottom texture portion can be reused if you like.

It doesn't look that difficult to do. Do you think you can make another video that shows how to remove/replace the grille from the inside of the bumper? I bought the new Maserati style grille and want to install it myself. I thought it could be done from the engine compartment instead of removing the bumper but that's not possible. The one I want to install actually replaces the OEM bumper. The new grill is not the front snap on type. There are two types of Maserati style grilles. There is the one thar I bought which goes into the bumper from the inside out and there is (in my opinion) the cheaper type that just clips onto the front of the OEM original bumper. Some folks may like that type because it's less work but to me it doesn't look original because if you notice with the original bumper it fits from the inside out and you can still see the original painted trim around the out side where as the snap on type it covers the trim. So if I wanted to get the chrome trimming around the grille it would not be possible with the snap on but would be perfect for the inside install new grille. Thank you..

Sure I’ll keep this in mind once I come across another RAV4. I’m interested in seeing that grill installed once you’ve got it done. The best way to install that grill would be removing the front bumper. It makes it more comfortable and it’s a quick install. Thank you!

My wife hit a piece of plywood on the expressway and it broke the bottom small grill and the clips on the left side holding the bottom valance on. Can that be replaced without removing the entire bumper?

You can take the bumper off half way and try it like that. But I usually take the whole bumper off to not waste time.

Does the 2020 model have pretty much the same process for removal? I scraped up the front left side and labor to just remove it and put on the new one is nearly $400 so I am trying to do it myself.

Awesom vid! I have one question though: Did you/anyone experience problems with the Toyota Safe Sense system? The dealership guy claimed that unclipping the sensor 2:58 would make it necessary to recalibrate the radar, but I’m not sure if I should believe him.

The body man said that or the Service advisor? I worked at Toyota for years and only the blind spot monitors in the rear bumper got sent in to get recalibrated. I’ve replace parking sensors and the radar sensor that sits behind the emblem and never had to send it in to get recalibrated. The more service they add the more money THEY MAKE. Service advisors will sale you crap that you don’t need. Their job is to scare you into buying more junk you really don’t need. That’s why I quit working for dealerships. They have to hit a certain number a month by selling bullshit. BEWARE AND PAY ATTENTION.

I’m not sure actually, I asked for an estimation and the guy came out. And yeah, that is exactly what I was thinking when he claim that unclipping would ruin the sensor. I don’t think any competent engineer would design something this fragile, especially when it is not located at some place secure. No you can loosen up half of the bumper and remove it if you like. But if you don’t feel comfortable doing that just remove the whole bumper for peace of mind. Thanks for watching 💪🏼

Just a cover is fine unless you have some more damage behind the bumper cover. In this video I’m removing the bumper cover.

Hi, useful video btw. I removed the front bumpers on RAV4 and now the car is saying that there is a pre collision system error and headlight malfunction. Do you had this problem ? And what should I do about it ? Thanks

The pre collision gets unplugged it’s shown here at 2:58 of the video but the other plug isn’t the headlamp. If I remember the other plug is the radar cruise control ( I think but don’t remember). Your issue could be caused by a bad component like a fuse, relay, or module. In this video I’m only showing how to remove the front bumper and nothing with the headlamps.

Take the bumper off and look at the lower cover and it should be held on with tabs, screws or clips! Just remove it
