How much was it when first bought and now what would it be worth after what you have done to the car to make it go any where.

Very nice build - well done but I f this did cost $ 230 k , why wouldn’t you start out a build with a Ram or similar Spec vehicle that can handle the load without an upgrade . The canopy build , electrical fit out and James Baroud tent is awesome but It seems you buy a land cruiser and the only thing you keep that’s Toyota is the doors , the rest is thrown in the tip !! . They aren’t cheap to start with but by the sounds of it if you want to do anything useful with the 79s and change what is needed , Toyota should just about give them away !! Maybe we don’t have much choice or option but maybe a Ram or something similar in diesel which obviously starts out a lot more money might be cheaper in the long run once fitted out similar and at least your not left with a Toyota motor and gear box . The Land Cruiser from factory just doesn’t seem to be up to it at all but commands so much 💰💰 - I reckon Toyota is having a laugh at us Aussies

Problems friends have encountered over time with a similar setup, one with a fibreglass back the other with an aluminium back is heat Poor ventilation will cause your fridges to work extra hard using tons of battery power which causes more heat and the fridge heats up causing it to go into limp mode (Yes they did). If you have a hard top pop up roof tent you probably have a solar panel on top to charge those batteries like they do, that requires you to park your rig in the sun, mmm, so in your roofy it's now 130° C, and your solid back is 120°C and climbing. I'll fix that by opening up the doors (maybe). Time to move on to the next top spot, lock it all up and let's go it's only a days drive. All those fridges running in those neat little compartments you made, sun belting down and it's now 150°C in there and shit is starting to go wrong, this was their dilemma, they now wish they had of kept the trusty canvas back like I have with good ventilation and flaps I can roll up on the go for more ventilation and would have kept thousands in thier pockets.

I’ve had my fridge (trailblazer) inside my aluminium canopy running non stop for 5 years and only issue I’ve had is the battery in the engine bay leaking. I’ve since moved a new battery into the canopy beside the fridge and no issues. Heat is definitely not an issue in an aluminium canopy

john ricardo building his dream truck mate for work and play. Yes its cost to build it but is unique and does everything he needs to do. The way i think of it. You only have to look on carsales.. Ferrari, Porche, BMW, audi, lamborghini, maserati high spec cars. Are so much more expensive than these. But alot of people still buy them. People obviously have money. But not everyone wants a sports car 30mm off the ground that has no praticallity or a chance of going offroad.

I don't really get it. I like 79's but to spend this much money on it... I always feel like you'd look like such a nob if couldn't follow or got stuck and a jacked up Hilux/80/GQ etc lucky to be worth 10g has to pull you out.. which will happen only matter of time
@AaronOffroader4 жыл бұрын
Abu7929 its more the legalities behind it. Its 4” lifted, runs 35s. With a 4.5T GVM can tow upto 4T but 8TGCM all legally, its chassis stretched, V8, Twin locked. Yes if you take it down a tight muddy or rutty track it wont be ideal for it. Its not really what its built for. Its a Touring Truck with more payload available then even the Rams ect.

Another show pony build, two do a chop and only get 500kg extra for towing big deal.. Theses cars are built weak from manufacturer and a huge waste of time and money...TJM will always walk in ARB shadow Lol...👎
@shanenorwell85805 жыл бұрын
Yep and considering the rear chassis upgrade for the bigger towing and carrying is about $45k it’s frigging stupid money.
